Morning Ed,

Wow what a video on Ronaldo that is, he was a genius on the pitch! Glad to hear he is out of hospial.

Have a good one mate.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate.}

Thanks Ed01.

May I ask, have you read about the recent comments from Ramos on Klopp?

{Ed001's Note - yeah just Ramos being the dick he is. And then ending it with 'but I voted for him as the best coach' just makes him seem even more stupid.}

Hughie Green, unquestionably.
And I say that most sincerely folks.

Thanks Ed great update. Like the video reference. What a player he was! Best striker ever?

{Ed001's Note - hard to say because Pele was a striker.}

Me too Ron, with an injury free Salah and our new lads, we'd rip them apart.

As for Ronaldo tho, happy to see he is out of hospital. I don't know if he is the best striker ever BUT you can definitely make that argument cos for me, he was THE player of my youth. The one I watched from beginning to end of his career and one I learned from as I played the CF position as well. Ronaldo was simply, the BEST player I had ever seen in all my 35 years of watching football.

Ronaldo was really a cut above. Pace, power, skill, finishing, game intelligence. His tricks were used to create pace, get pass a player, get into a better position; everything was intentional. He lost and won a WC for his nation; that was the extent of his influence. Neymar hasn't even come close to being so important for Brazil; I believe even if he had played, Brazil would still have lost to Germany, by a greater margin perhaps?

Yeah Neymar is not even close to how good Ronaldo was yet he has the cheek to act like he is gods gift, he needs to look back a bit and think of the real legends before classing himself as one.

Oh you can't place Neymar in the same sentence, or even the same paragraph, as some of the true Brazilian greats like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Zico, Socrates, Romario and others. The fact that he has scored more goals than most of these players, for the Brazil team, is purely coincidental in that the team plays around him and there is no other talented playersd in this generation. I heard more than a few commentators and read more than just a few articles (in the non-English media) that it was Coutinho who was the driving force behind Brazil and not Neymar. Given the vast difference in talent between the two, it tells you all you need to know about Neymar.

Ronaldo was simply as his name says he was - the phenomenon.

Can you imagine a hybrid player with the flair and offensive talents (learnt in Brazil) of a Ronaldo and the tactical, positioning and work rate (learnt in Europe) of a Firmino?

I’m old enough to remember watching Zico, Falcao, Socrates, et al. Zico was a personal favourite. Always liked Romario after what he did to Man Utd in Barcelona but the arrival of Ronaldo was a step up.
The type of step up compared to his peers that lends itself to the lazy journalistic phrase “unplayable”. There is a video of him playing under Bobby Robson where he runs from the half way line and his demeanour is that of a bull on the charge. He had the strength to shrug of defenders of all types and the skill to back it up. The one thing he was adept at (like Romario but unlike Neymar) was if it was a horrible little toe poke that was required that’s what happened. Goals for the team not the camera.

Exact same Ihaad, loved watching that Brazil team, I was just a young kid at the time growing up watching that Brazil team and when we were brilliant as well. Had Dalglish and Zico as my idols, even called my dog Zico, loved Socrates as well, especially his penalties 😁.

Brazil 82 - the best team not to win the World Cup.
I still don’t understand how they didn’t win, Paulo Rossi had the game of his life and Brazil wasted a lot of chances.

Sorry just from United page, and saw Ron's Brazil 82 comment. Loved that team. They were missing a young Careca who got injured before the 1982 world cup. He would have completed that side as they didn't have a true out and out striker/ poacher. Brazil 70 and 82 my favourite teams of all time attacking wise. A. c. Milan in the late 80's early 90's defensively.

Ronaldo was absolutely incredible. I remember back in the '94 World Cup, when he travelled with the squad despite only being 17 (I think) . If I recall correctly, things weren't exactly brilliant between Romario and Bebeto and both felt that they should be partnered with the young Ronaldo instead of each other.

The stars that made up that '82 Brazil squad were also true greats. Zico seems to be one of those maestros that tends to be forgotten when people discuss Maradona, Platini and the other great number 10s of the time. My personal favourite was Socrates, but Falcao (I hope I spelled his name right, I may have confused him with the guy that did 'Rock Me Amadeus') was another player that I really liked.

That team played so well. It seemed only natural that they would win the World Cup that year. Paolo Rossi had other ideas, however.

Hey Supasub - always good to see posters from other sites venturing out.

How do you feel about the news of Zidane potentially being interested in taking Mourinhos place?

Do you think Jose will be there much longer?

Looks like Facebook are laying down infrastructural foundations for the Premier League. Once they work out the magic advertising/ subscription ratio then it's only a matter of time I tell ye. Pop up adverts for ass implant surgery over live pictures and a constant comment stream larger than the match screen here we come!
