Ed01 where u impressed with Naby today and the lads?

{Ed001's Note - very much so, they looked like a team used to playing together. Keita was excellent, Milner and Mane were the best players on the pitch and Salah's movement seems as good as last season.}

Let's not forget Sturridge bagging with his first touch 😎.

Naby Keita was really good. If there's any player that might just take Firmino's spot as my favourite player, its him.

There are so many things to like about the game, the team. Yeah!

Looking forward to your match review Ed.

{Ed001's Note - I will do it tomorrow once I get a chance to rewatch the game.}

Never seen you this impressed with Milner ed! Does he seem to have learnt?

{Ed001's Note - looks to have moved on a long way since first playing central mid for us.}

Keita makes them all look better. Well Gini might be the exception.

When Milner played with Hendo, Gini, Can etc no one had the class to change a game, so many many times we couldn't break teams down.

Keita didn't even play that well today (for him) but believe me he will be the best of the best by the end of the season.

{Ed025's Note - i thought keita was very good to be honest mark..

You ain't seen nothing yet Ed. That was his average.

{Ed025's Note - i have seen quite a bit of him actually mark, excellent player who only has one flaw and thats his temperament mate..

mark08, why the sly dig at Wijnaldum? I was st the game and he was excellent.

We need a bit of bite mate. We have been too nice in recent years. He just hates losing - not such a bad thing. He was a bit naughty last year I admit, but in this side I think he will settle down and be our game changer.

Good luck to you for the season - top man.

{Ed025's Note - i never said there was anything wrong with that mark, in fact its exactly what you needed mate and could well be the final piece in the jigsaw..

He isn't good enough and he is very very lucky to be in that team. As the season goes on he won't play. He wasn't excellent - Milner was very good and so was Mane if you think Gini was Excellent you are far too easily pleased. He is not the quality required to challenge for the title. He wouldn't get on the City bench.

What a very silly comment gini was good today as was all the midfield
support your team mate is it really that hard?

If Alan Ball were playing today, he'd be Naby Keita.

{Ed025's Note - im sure naby would be delighted with that comparison juicer..

he was ok today but last season he was terrible until the last 2 months. I don't change my opinions game by game. As for Gini I don't trust him he is not good enough.

mark08, listen to what Klopp had to say about Milner and Wijnaldum after today’s match “They we’re both excellent”. But you know better than the Liverpool manager, hey? If he wasn’t good enough, Klopp wouldn’t continue to pick him. Why not take Johncrow Junior’s advice and support ALL our players instead of denigrating those who you don’t rate.

15.) 12 Aug 2018

Klopp won't pick him when other players are fit. Klopp put him up for sale meaning he doesn't trust him long term either. (no club would pay the asking price so that should tell you how other clubs rate him) . I have no problem with him playing a few games but over a season in the league he won't start more than 10 games and rightly so.

People are free to give their opinions on here. I think Keita will be great and Gini is not good enough - I don't see the issue,

Markp08, I absolutely agree that people are free to have their opinion on this site - the freedom to do so without being trolled is one of the key attractions of the site for me. My issue is that you refuse to acknowledge an excellent performance by a Liverpool player because you simply do not rate the player. I repeat, I was at the game, not watching it on tv, and my opinion is in line with Klopp’s - Wijnaldum was excellent today alongside Milner in midfield.

It’s always been the same. I had a season ticket during the seventies and I was surrounded by people shouting stuff like “get him off, he’s rubbish”, “not fit to wear the shirt” etc. This usually came from guys who were so rotund they couldn’t even see their own feet. And all while we were winning the league and collecting cups for fun. There will always be moaners, but mostly they just demonstrate how little they know about the game. Klopp wouldn’t play these guys if they weren’t good enough. Simples.

I never said he was poor today he had a decent enough game but it doesn't change the fact that I don't think he will play much in the league this year.

If people are not allowed their opinion then this site would just have the same 50 posters just agreeing with each other. I will not forget how bad he was for 80% of last season.

{Ed0333's Note - if the Ox was fit I’d bet good money Gini would have been sold. I agree with Mark, Gini is not of the required standard for us. He is anonymous in way too many games and would not get into City’s, United’s, Chelsea’s or Spurs Midfield. If I remeber correctly he was only bought because players turned us down in that position, notably Per Zielenski

Evening Ed. That is my only fear this year that we might miss the OX, he was looking a really good player and very effective.

{Ed0333's Note - evening Mark. Yes I can’t believe I’m saying this because I was his most fervent critic but the Ox is a monumental blow for us. Love the guy, was loving the football he was playing for us and I truly hopes he goes on to become our captain the kid is the personification off class.

I think having a decent defensive unit will help Wijnaldum.

That and greater competition for places will help him progress. He played really well today, they all did 👍.

{Ed0333's Note - it’s the same defence as last season Ron? I think Gini is marmite he has his fans and detractors. I’m not a fan myself and I don’t think he serves much of a purpose. I hope he proves me wrong.
