Ed1 if your about and watching the United game, what's your take on Baileys tackle on Iheanacho, for me that's a pen, didn't get get the ball and took his leg? Thick commentators praising him for a good tackle.

{Ed001's Note - I would not have argued if a pen had been given. He did get the ball afterwards, but only after the leg across and a push in the back. Not the clearest cut penalty ever, but it would have been given as a foul anywhere else on the pitch.}

Refs aren't filling me with confidence for the season and its only the first game 🙄.

Leicester were unlucky not to go away with at least a point today, James Maddison looks a really bright prospect as does Ben Chilwell.

{Ed0333's Note - the Ben Chilwell we nearly signed. Another one that got away.

Was there VAR guys? Is it planned for all games or some? Fa Cup maybe?

Personally I thought it was a penalty straight away, they got lucky with that one but a hard split second decision to make for a ref that one.

I thought Ricardo was very good for leicester.

Robbies better and we wouldn't of signed him of we had of gotten chilwell so silver's linings.

Madison is a few season off being good enough for us. Needs god develop over there and then he might be ready to get in a bigger team like us.

I hate this developing players lsrk. Top clubs should really only be buy8ng ready made.

I thought Chilwell looked quite good. He seemed to have a field day on the left.

Do you reckon they would swap for Moreno? Nah happy with Robertson to be fai!

To be fair I thought Unt were pretty comfortable in that game even though they conceded most of the posesion they did what they do and I expect they will get top 4. Under mourinho it will never be pretty but they will grind out results as they showed tonight.

I'd rather have Moreno than Chilwell.

And kloppsboss. You are normally so sensible. Bringing players through is a responsibility of lfc. We have had some truly amazing home grown talent. Robbie fowler, Stephen Gerrard, Jamie carragher. And that's just premier league era. I'm sure I'm missing loads, Steve mcmanaman. Rob Jones? And now young trent. Micheal Owen came through the ranks. These days half the boys in the academy are not from Liverpool. We buy them young, and bring them through. There was a 16 Yr old last summer, we bought and it was a big signing. Can't remember his name, he was from Eastern Europe I think. Its a serious business not to be dismissed by sweeping gestures. If anyone knows the name of the lad I'm talking about it would be appreciated i think he is a CM.

@ Robbiejames. VAR to be used in FA and Carabao cup games but only at Premier league stadiums.

I didn’t see what you all did with Chilwell. He got wherever he wanted but really didn’t do much with the space he was given.

Rob Jones was signed and went straight into the first team. We can’t take any credit for developing him.

There needs to be a mix in a sqaud of home developed players and ready made in my opinion.

Rob Jones, was a promising young player when he signed, but you can't say Liverpool didn't help his development, I bet you Rob himself would tell you by training alongside top internationals and being coached by Roy and Ronnie improved his performances.
Development doesn't stop when a player goes straight into the first team.

Rj.

No dude academy yeah. They should be our young players but as for first team players, top clubs shouldn't buy players years away from there best.

We literally just wasted 5 years on can for him to have his prime over in Italy. We have players like origi who you thought would of been good bu5 instead don't reach thag potential.

Now we're signing ready made talent like vvd, fabinho, keita, Salah, Alison who have all had there development elsewhere and we literally get there best years, which then gives a better platform to the likes of Trent and Curtis Jones to fit in to a starting 11 made up of very experienced tip players rather than a team of players not much older than themselves.

Being in a dressing room of players older, wiser and more sensible is only more productive in there development.

Like shaqiri now he has had years messing around at other clubs and we get him ready at 26, ready to go.

City, Chelsea, barca, United, arsenal, Tottenham, Chelsea, Madrid, Munich all have enough money to buy formed players. It's not wrong to sign a real. top young talent here and there but yp7 should build your teams on 24+ really. We have started that and now where tipped for the title.
