I've just read about Klopp's treatment of Can before he left and I must say it has to be applauded. Klopp has declared that he knew for months that Can was leaving (as did almost everyone else) . And he didn't like the fact that LFC would not be able to make some money by signing him to a new contract and selling him after that (as was done with Suarez and Coutinho) . But in his professionalism, he continued to pick him whenever Can was able to play on the field (UCL Final included) . We've all seen how other managers freeze players out during contract disputes (Aldeweireld comes to mind recently) and how they're banished to the U23's or whatever. Klopp's even handed conduct in this situation has to be recognized and applauded.

I certainly get what you’re saying, but in a champions league final picking anything but your best available players is counter-productive.

I always liked Can and he seemed to keep putting the effort in too!

The thing is Can was professional all the time.
He didn’t refuse to train he didn’t coast through games.
He behaved like a pro and Klopp treated him like a pro.

Too many footballers refuse to train, turn up late, “miss a flight”, carry on knock, blame their wife as an excuse to get a move. They deserve to be isolated and sidelined.

Absolutely right Ron. And then even after leaving, neither Can nor Klopp have had one negative word to say about each other. Another positive. Simply because very often both players and/ or managers decide to get bitter and show it, once the player is gone.
