I personally don't think Jose is losing his edge if anything he's getting better. He is getting under the skin of us Liverpool fans with his buying everyone comments and his media image doesn't mean that's what he is like with his players. He is creating an underdog narrative which is were he thrives in. Think about it Porto won the CL as underdog Chelsea money didn't moved to inter another CL underdog won CL moved to Real Madrid and didn't moved to Chelsea and didn't Jose wins being the underdog not the favourite.

Jose creates a siege mentality it’s the ‘everyone is against us’ narrative. Problem now though is his credibility has been severely tarnished by his antics at real and more recently his last season at Chelsea. He has been losing the dressing room which you would never have thought possible when he was at Porto and in his first stint at Chelsea.
He used to come across as a great manager to work for who’ll back his players to the hilt and use the media to promote his own agenda.
Now he just looks and sounds like a boring, miserable whinger and his team now plays in that image too.
For me he’s not finished but he’s not the elite manager he once was.

He’s far from under my skin, I think it’s hilarious!

Siege mentality is fine, but he’s gone from ‘everyone against us’ to ‘everyone against me’ and he’s more than happy to attack his own player and board now.

He’s always been happy to stir the pot but this is different. I’m wondering if maybe he is unhappy at how unspecial he is now compared to previously, and how much attention Pep and Klopp are getting.

i think you're grasping at straws mate. he doesn't give a toss about getting under lfc fans skin - how exactly does that help his team? he would need to get under the skin of klopp and team which i highly doubt he has acheived.

he's clearly going backwards and his usual deflection tactics he was once a master at are becoming increasingly embarassing. his days are numbered at old trafford and he's under far more pressure than any other manager to deliver the title this year.

I think we are all laughing at him more than getting under our skin
If he keeps mentioning us and the money we have spent now wait until we play them.

Really 87red? Surely it has to be Klopp under the most pressure to win the league this season, promised the owners to win it in 3 seasons. He's spent millions trying to buy the league and now you've got a team to challenge, he hasn't even won a trophy at Liverpool mind and lost 3 finals in a row with you, and you yourselves last won a cup in 2012 lol.

I just don't think Mourinho has a team good enough to win the league at Utd yet, they're clearly missing players in important positions, LB CB and RW at least, and he did win 2 trophies in his first season there so maybe that lessens the pressure a bit. You should challenge City for the league this season with Man Utd, Spurs and ourselves going for top 4.

“F Jose and the horse he rode in on”.

His team plays dull football, they can’t compete with Man City and his most expensive signing is still a lot more than Klopp’s.

Jose bought the league whilst at Chelsea, now he hasn't got the financial doping he’s had in the past he’s having to use other dark arts.

He’s an irrelevance to me 🤝.

His most expensive signing is 'a lot more' than Klopps Ron? Only a £15m difference between Pogba and VVD.

9.) 06 Aug 2018

£15m IS a lot more. That's the same as some existing Premier League team's transfer record.

From transfermkt data, Mourinho has bought 10 players averaging €48m each since joining Man U, while Klopp has bought 13 players at an average of €33m each since joining Liverpool. Pretty much exactly the same total, over a similar period, and that’s ignoring Coutinho.

If you look at Man City, Pep has bought 21 players at a total of nearly €600mln!

How is Klopp buying the league exactly?

Don’t be duped by Mourinhos comments, Klopp has come from a lot further back in terms of squad quality, and only just spent the same as his competition. He should be under no more pressure than Pep and Mourinho to win this year, and given where he’s come from be should be judged on what he wins in the next two seasons, not the last two.

How exactly is he not buying the league SGRed? Bought most of the players in your first team.

That's right 'cause everyone else has the same squad from the pre Klopp era, Sarriball. A ridiculous comment seeing as this is Klopp's 3rd summer at Liverpool. All managers change teams when they take over at clubs. More money has been spent recently but still not the same amount as Man Utd or Man City in Klopp's time in charge. Chelsea still spent more than Liverpool last summer. This may be the first summer ever (or certainly in my memory) where Liverpool have spent the most, and the window is not yet closed.

I just think fans and managers from other clubs don't understand that the major pressure to win is coming from places other than at Liverpool. You might not be able to grasp the idea, but we (at least speaking for myself) expect to challenge, not to win, as much as we would like to. By all means you create the pressure, if you like. Luckily, Klopp doesn't care what you think.

06 Aug 2018 16:13:01
Not the point Sarri - the question is how can you be accused of ‘buying the league’ when you’ve done nothing different vs two of your biggest rivals.

The data shows Klopp has spent no more than Mourinho or Pep (despite Coutinho leaving) since each joined their clubs respectively, and has brought in 13 players vs. Mourinhos 10 and Pep’s 21.

If we win the title this season, then we will have won it due to the players which Klopp has bought, so we would have bought the league. But that’s what it takes now, if one or two players come through the youth systems of the top clubs it seems that’s ok, all of the top 5-6 teams in prem should be under pressure to win the title. If Klopp promised title in 3 years then he should be under pressure to win it this year, he has been backed with pretty much who ever he wants, so he should be winning something this year.
Not interested in what any of the managers have to say mostly as they all say stupid stuff to play games. All I’m bothered about is winning some decent silver ware this season.
We are now spending as much or more than other top teams so for me there should be no more excuses, we should be challenging on all fronts all the way.

None of this matters we will finish 3rd this season. We will win zip this year unfortunately.
Klopp will be gone, a new manager maybe Eddie Howe will be appointed have 3 years of transition and still City Arsenal and Utd will be stronger than us.

Klopp has improved players, almost beyond recognition. When you look at lallana Henderson and firmino. Mo salah and mane. We have made do with 2nd and 3rd choice players, gini and Mo, it worked out fine.

Despite the mad spending by Chelsea and arsenal we gave been consistently better than them. While City signed mendy we got robbo and I honestly wouldn't swap him for mendy now.

Despite missing out on targets we made the ucl finals and now everyone is expecting big things from Liverpool this season. This would have been the case even if we had made only one signing.

For once we have out spent everyone (so far, still 4 days that Coul d see utd spend 130 mil on cbs) this is the first year we have truly competed in the transfer market and are getting slated for it. Wait for it. By a chelski fan! Good god.

Teams like Liverpool are always there or there abouts sarriball, we have been for decades. Utd and arsenal too. I remember summers where Chelsea look unrecognisable after the transfer season. You used to be West ham. Before you literally bought the league.

Liverpool and fsg have built while strong. This doesn't happen every season. When you over achieve, as we did last year, the fans expect more of the same. I don't think Klopp could have done anything more than bring in 4 quality players.

19.) 06 Aug 2018
06 Aug 2018 20:19:17
Also. We've signed 4 players. One a goalie. How can 4 players be buying the league?

20.) 06 Aug 2018

Take no notice of Jose. His comments often seem complicated but it really isn't.

He deflects the attention from his players to him. He's been doing it for years and it works.

We should be looking at how they have failed to sign a top cb, have failed to sign William while mata gets older and slower (still a good player)

Jose brought the players he likes when at Chelsea, now that's where he looks for new utd players. I don't see spurs selling Toby, they should have a better chance with maguire.

Also I'm secretly worried that alderverald would be a great signing. Hm not so much.

I admit we bought the league when Roman came in, literally admitting it, but you are failing to admit to it, it's exactly what you're doing. Klopp has bought a lot more than just 4 players, it's obvious he's trying to buy the title.

Also, you have't consistently been better than us or Arsenal for years, we've won 5 PL, 1 CL 1 EL 5 FA Cups and 3 League cups since the takeover. 'Consistently better'😂😂 We had a poor season under Conte and u guys were supposedly invincible under Klopp yet you JUST scraped into the top 4 ahead of us, says a lot.

The point I was making was referring to Jose who has had a significant financial advantage everywhere he’s been with the possible exception of Inter.

If someone said Klopp is buying success at Liverpool I would not disagree, but there is no way he has a financial advantage over City, Arsenal or Man Utd.

Klopp won the bundesliga twice whilst Bayern were far and away the wealthiest team in Germany.

Klopp has never held “the financial advantage” whereas Jose’s domestic successes have depended on it 🤝.
