A few thoughts from the game

- I don't want to take too much away from the score, we beat Barcelona badly last pre-season, but this side is looking slick and passed the ball really well to beat Napoli's aggressive press when they did try to get back into the game
- Allison's distribution is awesome and looks so confident. Think he's going to be huge for us
- I hope TAA starts instead of Clyne, he immediately added something to the game
- same with Fabinho, want to see him start at base of midfield. Fabinho looked so composed on the ball and has fantastic range on his passing, with some really incisive balls going forward
- We look so well stocked in the forwards it's ridiculous. Mane and Salah looked as dangerous as ever and Sturridge seems to be working out how to play in our system without needing electric pace. Shaqiri looked dangerous too and keen to make a mark
- Solanke still looks short of confidence in front of goal though, I really like him but beginning to wonder if a loan would be better for the lad to come back next season with some game time in a professional league under his belt and some confidence

Almost there now lads. season starts in a week. Cracking performance tonight.

The link up between Shaqiri and Trent was scary quick and sharp given the kid has only been back a week. They compliment each others game massively and the potential speedy overlaps and balls down the channels is ANOTHER good headache for Klopp.

What I like the most about Shaqiri is that he can play anywhere across the front 3. Good cover/ rotation option for Bobby, Mane and Salah.

Bobby was way off the pace and I was surprised that he started. Since it was his first game back, I thought he should have gotten a cameo off the bench.

Keita was a bit tentative and sluggish in the 1st half but grew into the game. Can't expect him to be at 100% after that neck injury. Hopefully both of them get back up to speed in the next week or so.

We have a great squad with strength in depth all over the pitch. Absolutely buzzing for this season!

Still pre season, but that was lovely to watch. The players we’ve bought seem to naturally suit our system and might not need much of a bedding in process. The exception is probably Fabinho, but it’s very much a case of just getting used to the system ala Ox. Never been this excited for a season.

SG Red.

Pretty much agree with everything you said mate. very excited for the season to commence as well.

Clyne's bar has been set for a while now, for me i'd prefer to sell if a good offer came in, but I have to say he seemed to be at least trying to hold his own, which is more than i can say for recent seasons gone by. I think his defensive side is fairly reasonable, adequate i suppose. but going forward he has literally offered nothing before this season. When under pressure he seems to panic and allows possession to be turned over very often. To me he seemed a little bit more eager tonight.

Don't get me wrong, I'd start Trent over him all day long.

Don't get me wrong, I think TAA is our first choice RB but if Clyne made the mistakes TAA did when he came on he'd be crucified.

I thought TAA was off the peace myself. Needs a couple weeks.

Cheers Smallsy, I agree and I’ve never been as down as some others on his defence, it’s his attack that bothers me. Trent got forward really well with some overlapping runs and we now have the passers in the team to release him. His crosses are also far more dangerous.

Yes he made a glaring mistake defensively Faith but the lads just come back. Clyne has those in him too and he gave away possession in dangerous spots at least 2-3 times that I saw. One header he made under no pressure at all he gave straight to their attacker in a dangerous spot.
