Is it just me or does Sturridge have a habit of scoring once in a game the switches off because he thinks he’s done his bit. Rarely scores more than and if he scores early you then have 10 men on the pitch.

Yep Sturridge looks sharp. Let’s hope he stays available. Solanke dropping down the pecking order. Shaquiri looked useful. Nice to see him receiving the ball to feet, turning and looking up for the pass.

I am impressed by Solanke. Plays with the maturity of a much older player.

Sturridge again shows why we all hope he can stay fit.

Shaqiri, take a bow. What a debut. Against kids, fair enough, but looked the best player on the park. I hope he has the right attitude in his lfc career because his ability is unquestionable.

I don't know why we keep doubting Klopp and his signings. Robbo was constantly moaned about last summer and now he looks like one of the most assured lbs out there. I think shaqiri is going to look a real shrewd piece of business this season.

Great goal by Shaqiri, he played better in that 45mins than the whole of last season for stoke, Let hope it a sign of the times.

I know it’s only one game but Shaqiri doesn’t look like he’s here to play back up. That no 10 role suits him well and the last 20 minutes everything good we did involved him. As I said only one game but the signs are promising. I’m thinking the plan was stick with Karius and buy Fekir. Fekir deal was too high risk so we got Allisson and the cheaper option with Shaqiri. Could be a blessing in disguise.

Studge scored quicker than Salah! But he did seem to switch off a bit afterwards, and I think he sulked after losing out on taking the penalty too lol

Shaqiri was sensational, he was literally everywhere to receive the ball, left, right, deeper, or as a striker. Before he scored his goal I was going to post about that and then he went and scored a beaut to top it all off! How he is so agile, fast and light footed considering his bulk is amazing.
If he can start pressing more Klopp will have a serious dilemma on how to start him in games xD.

Has shaqiri ever had a proper crack at the top.

Basel, dominated.
Bayern to young and they where just to good, after a year they signed gotze for big money and just pushed him aside
Inter. Sinking ship.
Stoke.

Sometimes talent brings talent out. There about 1 player that could go to a stoke team and win a ballon and it's Ronaldo.

If he can't crack it here then he never will. Best man manager in world football, best club in the universe, best fans in the multi verse and the best anthem in the ran out of verses 🤣

He has that number 10 position to make his own. Its all there for him.

He was cracking tonight.

Now little comparison in regards to work rate in that position.

I've watch griezmann a lot as I love the guy. Now he works hard but I've never seen a player look so bad and be so good in the flick of a switch like him. Sometimes, I mean whole games he just does nothing, nada, zip but klopp wanted him for his quality.

Now I have a little theory that he doesn't want the number 10 to press as much as the rest and to also account for the amount of times big bobby goes missing up too because he's working to damn hard. Sometimes where on a break because he's cleared the ball from our box. He's a phenom but it does leave us 1 short. I think the idea is the number 10 in our system is to remain further forward, not track back as much and to work with bobby so one goes the other stays, like a tandem.

Obviously work hard and make good runs etc but not for both to go bombing back etc.

I remember when number 10's were support strikers, not attacking midfielders. I don't know who the first modern number 10 was, but he's got a lot to answer for.

Angy Bardzo, you described Roberto Mancini, Pele, King Kenny and Roberto Mancini perfectly as the no. 10's who were support strikers.
