Surely now matip is out and proving a bit of a liability, we will have too get a defender in as cover or do u think this will be ignored an we battle on, I am gutted we ain't going for fekir or someone who can fill that creative gap that coutihno left . I am living in hope but preying we do something fingers and toes crossed as it could make the difference to our attack to have the variety too chose from .

We can’t just keep on buying players. We have had the best transfer window I can remember. For years I have wanted only to buy a few players that improve the first team and we have done that. Let’s concentrate on getting a few players off the books who aren’t going g to get much game time.

Re the CBs, hailstones, we’ve got 5 senior CBs for just such an issue. Injury to Matip means Gomez has a chance to partner VVD until Lovren is back.

I still believe we will get Fekir, and no where have I seen anything conclusive that says we won’t.

Even if no one else comes in, this is one of the best windows ever.

I agree mate I am just gutted cos I like the player and think he would suit us, I don't think we will get him things have moved on too much since then it looks like we would have to go back too Lyon which I can't see, it has been a great window but I still feel we a couple of injuries from being exposed especially in attack an defence the quality back up jus isn't there.

We have Ox (injured), Lallana, Keita, Wijnaldum, Milner, Henderson and Fabinho can't see where Fekir fits.

unless matip is done for the season, I don't see the sense in bringing in a reinforcement. VVD, lovren, klavan matip and gomez are our group. 5 senior CBs seems about right to cover for injuries etc. and no matter what we think about the quality in depth, we can't just bring in more players and have say, 7 or 8 senior CBs every time someone gets injured. say if matip is injured long term or has a chronic injury, then I imagine a deal that may make sense would be a loan deal for someone where we manage to wheel a decent wage share out of the home club. otherwise, just roll with who we have.

secondly, we've replaced coutinho with Keita imo. I don't see where we have issues with creativity. but if we get someone myu preference is pulisic!

If Keita doesn't play the midfield is similar to last year. No where near enough goals or good enough supply to the front men.

Any mix of the midfield players without Keita will not be good enough over a run of games. The squad though is better so maybe Mane or Firmino will play the number 10.

What I would say mark, is that with Fabinho in the team at least Hendo will have the opportunity to play further forward from time to time. He's a lot more creative with final passes than he gets credit for and is not afraid to have a shot or two if he's in that role. Klopp didn't trust Can enough to allow Hendo to be the furthest forward of the two and I think that will change now. However, I am slightly leaning towards the idea of having signed a cheaper keeper, purely to take the onus off of Karius, and to have signed a Fekir type for the reasons you state.

Hopefully this Alisson thing puts the keeper issue to bed completely and negates the need for an extra creative body in there, for now. We scored 84 league goals last year. All but City would've given their right arms to have scored that amount. Maybe if we can halve goals conceded we'll bridge the gap. I'd prefer to score more than concede less, but whatever works really.

Markp scoring goals wasn’t always a problem, albeit sometimes against major PTB teams, but we'd still find at least 1 most times.
It was conceding and throwing the game away that was the major problem
New keeper and a proper DM will hopefully massively improve on that. So we may get a few boring 1-0s instead of 1-1s lol.

Not sure that is correct, we were about 10 goals short IMO, if we score 84 goals this year I would think it won't be enough. Hendo doesn't/ can't score goals. Without Keita the midfield is basically the same.

A midfield of Milner/ Gini, Hendo, Fabinho won't be good enough over an extended period to challenge City.

No excuses though, there are enough forward players now to change it up when required.

mark what you on about? without keita the midfield is the same? but we do have keita. so if him and fab play we have changed 2 out of 3. that is not the same.

you could argue without Allison our keepers are basically the same. do you wantt us to sign an upgrade and a reserve for every position?

Hendo was never prolific, but he certainly scored and assisted more when he played a more advanced role. He just hasn't been playing there for the last 2 or 3 years.

Most years 84 goals would be enough to win a title, Man City broke records last year - that won't be repeated. We've improved the squad and more importantly, the first team. City will have to complete some extra ordinary work to improve theirs. I think the mercurial football conceptualist that is Guardiola will have to re-reinvent the game this season. If he does, with what is still the most expensive squad by a long way, then kudos to him.

From what we needed before the window, to what we have now is a leap beyond dreams. To ask for much more is just being greedy, I think. But hell, we are football fans.
