Would love to see Sturridge stay this season and be second choice to Firmino. There's world class talent in that guy and if he stays fit, with the quality of players around him, he's bound to get a hatful of goals and hit close to his 13/ 14 season form.

He is staying mate.

I hope so good player when fit. If we had to find a winner what a player to bring on to get the 3 points.

I wonder how good he would be if tried in the No. 10 slot? Shift the focus and pressure away from scoring goals and yet still be an offensive threat from outside the penalty box and send in through balls to the front 3. Not saying leave Keita out of the team (I'd still want him to play) but I've seen Sturridege play further back this pre-season than he usually does. Even though he's always had the tendency to amble around midfield in the past too. Just a thought.

Kloppsreds17, didn't you also say that Fekir had signed a new contract yesterday?

What's your source for this Sturridge news then?

Or is it your opinion?

Sturridge can also go missing in games. It happens a lot actually. I don't think he likes getting hit.

I agree though. A fit Sturridge is a good option from the bench. The longest he has stayed fit though is shdn Klopp didn't play him for 3 months.

And without his pace he won't be as effective.

He’s well past it and would be sold but nobody wants him.

World class? not anymore I'm afraid. I love Sturridge but his time at Liverpool is about done (I can't see him moving anywhere this window btw), we can't be blinded because of a good couple of appearances in preseason. Nothing would make me happier to see him thrive and do brilliant again but I seriously doubt we'll see that. Fingers crossed I'm wrong of course.

I think in games where we should have a lot of the call, two of Solanke Sturridge and Firmino would be good!

Just hope he can stay fit because he’s a good option from the bench, and gives solanke a chance to go out on loan and gain some valuable experience.

If Sturridge can put in world class performances, which he can. Why is he not considered a world class player? Injuries. If he can stay fit then he is an assett.

But, if he doesn't really fit into klopps high press mantra or just isn't the type of player he wants why on earth is he not being sold? It's crazy.

Last season he was fit for ages. Scored a beauty against bayern in pre season, looked sharp and Klopp never played him. Didn't even bring him on when we needed a goal. Why on earth is he not being sold so a more firmino type under study can be bought in. I don't know who. A technical player with a bit of bulk who tracks back and can find nice passes, oh and can finish.

{Ed001's Note - no one wants to buy him and pay his wages.}

I'm not getting my hopes up about stirridge anymore lads. Best you do the same.

Just can't see him having an injury free or close to injury free season.

Wages too high to sell him on and we all know how injury prone he is. No wonder there's no takers.
Just letting his contract run down then show him the exit. Any game time / goals this season will be a bonus.

“IF” being the word there! He can’t stay fit the lad is crocked! I love studge but it ain’t happening he should be moved on! He’s on big wages spends his time in rehab that’s not good for business!

Just went to show when he was available for loan. Only wba took a chance. And that back fired.

Sturridge will not start matches unless needed. It is safe to say his time at LFC is up.

We cannot hold onto the past.

Sturridge when fit is a great asset but like Maltip he is also made of glass if we could get a realistic price for him then it's time for him to move on, like the guy but his pace is gone so he doesn't suit our high tempo style of play also piss poor in a tackle and obviously as I said before made of glass would love to see him go somewhere stay fit and be successful but expect him to be injured by 1st week in September. Hope he makes me eat my words but doubt it.

Solanke is far more suited to our style than Studge, but until he starts hitting the back of the net, improves his first touch and stops trying to skin people in his own half, there will always be people hoping for Studge to come good again. He’s a great player when he’s on it, even without his pace, but he doesn't press.

19.) 24 Jul 2018
24 Jul 2018 23:16:06
If he could stay fit he would play. He can't so he can't be relied upon.
Sell or even offer a free, get him off the wage bill and replace.

Btw I love a on fire fit studge.

24 Jul 2018 23:22:17
He had his chances last season and didn’t deliver. Not worth the wages and I would rather let someone younger get game time tbh. Maybe a different league would be better for DS.

People keep say sturridge needs moving on he's got to etc. not as simple as that, his wages are massive and club won't take that gamble because of his injury record . I personally think we as fans need to look at it from a different angle
Most are correct in saying others are more suited to the style we play than sturridge is, but sometimes we need something a little different in certain games, a selfish forward in the box, a fox in the box etc and in sturridge we have that
If and it's a big if klopp can get him on board with not playing every week and him staying fit and sharp (which to be fair he looks fitter now than I've seen for a while ) then he could be invaluable to us this season and is capable of picking up 10/ 15 goals and turning them games we drew last year after dominating and having chance after chance in to a win.

Thanks Ed, it's the wages then. God this is a perfect lesson in not signing big players, with high wages who have serious injury history.

If fekir started getting injured a lot we would be in the same boat that is highly frustrating.

If we don't sign fekir it'll be interesting to see how his knee holds out.

{Ed001's Note - Fekir's wages would not have been as high as Sturridge's.}
