Some of the behaviour towards some players by persons is disgusting but let's not forget that it's happening at other clubs also. We as a nation fan base should be looking to stop this treatment at ALL clubs no player deserves to be abused as if they are not human beings who will make mistakes. I don't know how but I would love to see the morons caught and punished then re-educated about the consequences of their behaviour.

I couldn't agree more it is shameful. I am sure that it will be recognised as a hate crime in the near future and the culprits will be imprisoned.

{Ed025's Note - some of it is over the top i agree langland but lets not go down the hate crime route FFS, they are grown arse men who are on extortionate wages so sometimes a bit of stick is fair game, i hate all these snowflakes and PC correct wallers who think you cant say anything bad about a player, if i think a player is crap then i will say he is crap as much as i will laud up a player who i think is doing well, if they dont like it then tough titty and they need to grow a set mate, im not talking about personal abuse here only the expression of an opinion which is my right while i live in a democracy..

I’ve been getting abused for 20 years by morons at every level of the game and I’m not on £100k a week, tell you what stop abusing officials across the board and I might agree with you.
Match officials are 4th class citizens yet without them there’s no game. Players experiencing what is acceptable towards us by all football fans every time we set foot on the field and all of a sudden everyone starts to develop a conscience 🤷🏼‍♂️.

{Ed025's Note - i agree with that koppite..

3.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 18:15:23
It’s the internet generation mate, gives morons the belief they can act like morons anonymously and they are mostly correct.
I bet players have actually had very few of any of these threats directly to their faces.

23 Jul 2018 18:36:29
Couldn’t have put it better ed25- shouldn’t go to some personal levels and family, race etc should never be brought into it but at the end of the day if they f*ck up they live with the consequences. If I drop the ball at work as bad as some of these players (pardon the pun! ) id Have managers screaming abuse at me for hours and these guys are paid a hell of a lot more than me so they can sure grow a pair take it!

{Ed025's Note - thats all im saying rajp, lets just be honest and give a true assessment of a players performance, im not condoning abuse or a personal attack on the player but dont lets get bogged down by having to tell lies so some supporters wont jump on our backs for being disloyal...i think thats only right mate..

5.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 18:38:15
Ed, I too cannot stand the PC madness, however there is a fine line. I don't 100% agree with langland but I certainly understand his thinking. There is an argument to be made that if one makes threats like those made to Lovren, or if you are wishing someone death and cancer on someones children that is going way too far, so in that respect I do support what lanland says. There are degrees to the comments that are being made. Being critical of performance is one thing, but the over the top madness that has happened to Lovren and Karius in particular is frightening really. Can you imagine making a mistake at your work and then receiving the threats that some of these players receive?

{Ed025's Note - i totally agree stone, personal abuse like that you mention is pathetic and quite frankly sick, what i am saying is that assessment in context is the way to go mate..

6.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 19:04:33
Agreed ed, good discussion, thank you.

{Ed025's Note - your very welcome mate..

7.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 19:07:33
There is nothing wrong with criticising a player but for heavens sake, everytime a player of your club touches the ball and he is ridiculed?

It is a total lack of respect towards the club. I was not a fan of Hodgson but the treatment he got at matches absolutely goes against all that this club was built on. Utterly pathetic how morons behave at matches.

I really hope Karius gets a escape exit. He is better off leaving and getting rid of the LFC crowd of hooligans.

'I bet players have actually had very few of any of these threats directly to their faces. '

Exactly mikey, too many keyboard warriors these days mate.

Ed25, I have had my say on the abuse of Liverpool players by so-called Liverpool fans in a separate thread. Just wanted to say that you sound like an arl arse like me (apologies if you aren’t) and we appear to have similar views on the difference between honest, even robustly delivered opinion on a player’s performance (acceptable) and personal abuse (not acceptable) . Unless it’s Harry Kane. (That’s a joke)

{Ed025's Note - i am just turned 60 WW so arl arse indeed mate, i give my honest opinions on players and everything else for that matter mate, i never had a good word for thatcher and never would now its esther mcvey who bears the brunt of my tongue, racism is another thing that gets my goat as is zero hours contracts ad the disgraceful way the homeless are treated by this so called civilized society, i will always opine as is my want and if people have a problem with that then so be it, never have and never will be a snowflake or a fence sitter...love me or hate me thats what you get..

10.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 19:45:24
Ed025, at least yous are rid of fat Sam lol.

{Ed025's Note - calling him fat sam is bullying max....oh no its not because his name is sam and he is fat...thats telling it like it is mate..kudos.. :)

11.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 19:54:04
Ed25 I hope you have got your Mersey Travel pass. Saves me a fortune!

{Ed025's Note - i have not applied yet WW, when they stretch it to taxis then i will consider it mate, i hate buses and am quite well off so no rush yet.. :)

12.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:00:11
Try attending a match at the Emirates - the disgusting abuse their players and (ex) manager got these last few years even for one misplaced pass (Ramsey gets it a lot) is way worse than what happens at Anfield (I get to visit both so can speak first hand! )

{Ed025's Note - its the same at virtually every ground 1jj, as i have said before its a social problem rather than a football one mate..

13.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:08:46
Fat Sam is pretty much the only person who could lose a load of weight and his name would still only change to “formally fat sam” lol.

{Ed025's Note - love it mikey..

14.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:11:19
Been saying the same thing for weeks ed025, there is nothing wrong with saying karius is not up to the standard and needs to be moved on! Can’t open your mouth though without people moaning, calling you a plastic fan and throwing you’ll never walk alone in your face! Once you settle for mediocrity, it’s game over!

{Ed025's Note - its the PC brigade who dont like you thinking for yourself and expressing an opinion JK, they are in fact bullying people into only saying positive things about the club or players or else they will be castigated and called a traitor, well it wont wash with me mate..

15.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:13:01
Ed025, you got someone with a plan now in Silva. Doubt you will win trophies with him in the near future but reckon he can sort out the mess you guys are in at the moment and move yous up the ladder.

At least you will be getting some entertaining football.

{Ed025's Note - i would like to think so max but we are not kidding ourselves mate it wont be quick fix..

16.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:21:32
Delete twitter. Pick up paycheck. Wake up beside beautiful woman. Go to training and get paid so much you will never have to work again when you stop playing. Turn 38 pour yourself a big glass of german beer and giggle at all the losers that were giving you death threats.

Job done.

{Ed025's Note - i cant argue with that wolverine...except that for some it would be work for a month than retire mate..

17.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:30:35
Love it ed25 😂😂😂😂.

18.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:39:52
Exactly ed025, karius is a professional footballer on 60k a week, he should be able to take a bit of stick (by stick I don’t mean death threats etc. ), if he’s such a snowflake, stay off social media!

{Ed025's Note - agreed JK..

19.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:40:04
Yeah Ed025, arch rivals but you guys need some sort of a break.

I just hope it is not another situation for yous like we had with Brendan. Spent a whack load and left us in tatters lol.

End of the day, you can only hope for the best but believe you are in better hands now than last season.

{Ed025's Note - thats the plan max but sometimes things just dont pan out like you expect...but we live in hope mate..

20.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 20:40:58
Ed025 Totally agree with your assessment of PC in the 21st century, players are in the spotlight and earn most peoples lifetime wages in a single season regardless of performance whereas if i put in shocking performances at work i would get paid off, and not when the full contract run out, so people can voice their opinions and in regards to this i have no sympathy for some players who don't perform, but personal abuse is out of order.

{Ed025's Note - i see it exactly the same SJW..

21.) 23 Jul 2018
23 Jul 2018 21:09:25
Well said ed025. Didn't think you were sixty reading your texts. You sound like z fresh 36 Yr old cynic mate.

{Ed025's Note - to be fair robbie most most of the nubile ladies in the woolton area say the same mate.. :)

23 Jul 2018 21:45:43
Best thread Iv read on here for a while this one- thanks ed25 some great comments on here good mix of sensible opinions and great jokes!

{Ed025's Note - thanks rajp but it takes good input from posters to make a thread work mate, we are all in this together..

23.) 24 Jul 2018
24 Jul 2018 11:26:15
Ed025, you have put it into words that I couldn't well done sir. I've been having a discussion of sorts with another poster and what you said was what I failed to put over in the conversation.
I hope the poster reads it and gets a better understanding of my point.
Obviously edd you were not included in that conversation but just wanted to say thanks for inadvertently saying what I failed to say.

24 Jul 2018 11:30:21
damn right ed025 its the 'liberal fascist' PC brigade who accuse any opinion other than their own as bad in some way. whilst I totally agree the abuse of players nowadays is unacceptable and a massive social problem.

The internet age has made people demand instant gratification in all areas of life, so if a footballer isn't brilliant from the get-go they'll always be the subject of abuse. this site is about the only place where one can find a balanced opinion on anything.
