The whole Karius situation is getting out of hand now, on both sides of the spectrum. He has to be taken completely out of the firing line and needs to work on his game big time, it’s clear he hasn’t been doing enough to rectify his mistakes because they’re happening non stop. I think the abuse he’s getting is disgusting and people need to take football a little less serious, I’m a huge football mark but when it gets personal then it’s time to reiterate your own life.

I would have said before the preseason that I’d like Karius to stay and compete with our new GK. However I have always said we need a better keeper to come in, I even said that last season before the CL final as I was never convinced by him and it was clear as daylight he’s a mistake prone player just like migs, In fact for me, he’s worse than migs. At this point I think it’s almost better for him to leave entirely or at the very least go out on loan to another league. I personally think he’ll never recover enough to come back to Liverpool and make it but he can do it elsewhere, which is a shame. If that were to be the case I wouldn’t mind keeping migs but I’m sure migs also wants to leave for first team football. With ward, migs and Karius all leaving, we would definitely need another keeper. This whole situation has become a bit of a shambles and has spread further than it should have, the abuse is sickening but it just doesn’t look like Karius is doing himself any favours. I think we need a new GK coach as well, no idea why that hasn’t been addressed, I’ve done my research on achterburg last season and he has nowhere near the credentials to be working at a club like Liverpool, I thought the same with Ian ayre and he eventually got replaced and look at the rewards.

I really think Karius would benefit from a season loan to a Bundisliga side. Back in his homeland away from the pressure of the PL. Give him time to work on his game and rebuild his shattered confidence.

Great post- agree with almost everything except achterburg. With Klopp already losing his right hand man I think the detriment to team morale and Klopps own coaching performance should achterburg leave would far outweigh the potential benefit of bringing in a new goalkeeper coach- if there would be any.
I hardly think a goalkeeper coach can be blamed for the type of mistakes Karius is making, a goalkeeper coach can help with technique, positioning, decision making but they can’t prevent karius totally losing concentration and making ridiculous mistakes. That’s a combination of lack of confidence and Karius personal/ concentration flaws, I’m not sure any GK coach in the world can help with that.
Allison will be a good test for achterburg for the first time at Liverpool he has a keeper who’s already showed he has all ability/ skill set required to be exceptional so let’s see what he doesn’t with him.

Rajp, I get where you are coming from but some of the top managers in the game make changes to their coaching staff every now and then when they think they need new ideas, Alex Ferguson did it all the time. Since achterburg has come in, we’ve seen the sharp decline of possibly the greatest Liverpool keeper in the PL era in Pepe Reina, a good young keeper with huge potential that help keep Sunderland up in Simon Mignolet and the same again with Loris Karius, all with little to no improvements, in fact in some cases they’ve gone backwards. I don’t think achterburg leaving damages team harmony/ morale, you need change sometimes to succeed and when something’s quite clearly broken, you need to address it and fix it.

I wish the Buvac situation never happened so I agree that may have a detrimental effect especially since I’m not totally convinced by his replacement. I think long term this could affect Klopp, we saw what happened to Rafa after pako, he’s still a top manager but at what club has he reached the levels he did when he was at Valencia and Liverpool. Let’s hope history doesn’t repeat itself.

I think it's appalling what people are saying to Karius personally, shameful

But

Why has he publicly come out about his feelings for this Alisson thing? He needs to shut his mouth, seems an arrogant man for someone who cost us a champions league.
