Really feel for Ozil. IMO, he was just showing good gesture. One of many reasons I hate politics and politicians; spew out all the hatred they can from almost anything.

The Germans are hurting, he seems like a good scapegoat. The photo was never going to go down well with anyone but Erdogan supporters (so not many folks really) and the main thing is I've always found Ozil to be a fair weather player. He disappears when the going gets gets tough. Not the German ethos and just my opinion. He doesn't need name calling from supposed German figureheads though.

They say chewing raw garlic is a great cure for the common cold and they might be right but honestly, is the cure not worse than the disease. Best thing I’ve found when not burning my mouth, throat, and stomach with hellfire is copious amounts of water. Feel better mate!

{Ed001's Note - lots of lemon and honey I use and it works.}

The stuff Erdogan is doing now in Turkey is extremely unsavoury - the players must surely have known that having pictures taken with him would go down like a lead balloon? I think Ozil is an excellent player but that was a stupid decision and one bound to get peoples backs up. If Arsenal want to bin him off I'd love us to sign him for the CAM role, the amount of chances he'd create would be ridiculous.

I don't agree with ErdoÄŸan policys and from what I know he isn't a good person. However otzil has the right to see and talk with who he likes.
The German politician should be sacked straight away.

I disagree, Walter. Erdogan is a dictator, Fact. Ozil can see or speak to who he wants BUT he or his PR team should have known that this was a political propaganda stunt that would only end up in tears for him. The German politician was wrong in his conduct BUT Ozil gave him the opportunity to do that and that is Ozil's fault, end of.

If I could know that this was an Erdogan stunt then he and his tea, are fools for not being aware of the public stink-show that would cause. Ozil allowed himself to be used as a political pawn and Erdogan got what he wanted out of it. If you think Erdogan cares whatever backlash Ozil gets from there then you prolly want to educate yourself about how dictators and demagogues think. Hint: They care about NOTHING and NO ONE else BUT THEMSELVES.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but no. Ozil's treatment is racism, pure and simple. There is no excuse for the racial abuse the lad has taken.}

It's funny how many top athletes have met with the likes of Putin, Assad, Gadaffi, Hussain etc over the years and had no problems isn't it?

If Bastian Schweinsteigger, Thomas Muller or Marco Reus had met him rather than Mesut Ozil and Ilkay Gundogan (no idae why they would but still) then no-one in Germany would have said anything. And anyone pretending otherwise is lying to themselves.
