Ed 001 do you still think we will sign Fekir this window? Do you know the reason the deal broke down? You’ve got to feel for the lad if he had indeed carried out all the media obligations that he had signed for Liverpool for it not too happen must be tough on him and doesn’t reflect well on club to leave him in limbo. I think we’ve had an excellent window but think we lack that bit of magic/ creative flair from midfield since Phil left and fekir could fill that gap and also add a lot in terms of free kicks set pieces. If we signed fekir and a decent cb like Jimenez think we will be genuine title contenders.

{Ed001's Note - no I don't think we will offload enough to go back and get him, this window.}

So it seems only likely if we manage to offload a lot that Klopp doesn’t see in our future. Probably wise in the long run, as much as I’d love him to come.
Guess that means the likes of Markovic, Sturridge, Ings, maybe Origi, Gini And Lallana.

I believe everything happens for a reason and if we had bought fekir earlier in the window I don't think we would have signed Allison.

Thanks for your reply ed do you know what changed since we initially agreed the deal and he had a medical? Is it a case the club saw getting Alison in was more important than a 10 in this window?

{Ed002's Note - It has been done to death - Liverpool went back on the agreed finances.}

We don't lack magic/ creative flair from midfield mate not when we have Keita, Hendo and Fabinho. Keita the most notable, I'd have him over Coutinho any day.

I think we're already genuine title contenders, Fekir or no Fekir, sure he'd be a great signing but he isn't absolutely needed.

A CB isn't necessary this window, maybe next year when Klavans contract runs out (I can't imagine it being renewed) but certainly not yet. If we went and brought in a new CB now then that'd be Gomez out of the picture because CB is the only position I see him getting game time this season, he's 3rd/ 4th choice for LB/ RB.

We already are title contenders.
I don't think liverpool would've signed oxlade chamberlain if we had got keita last summer. It was a last minute thing. And I don't think we will sign fekir since signing shaqiri.

The squad is massive and there is plenty of magic in it. Keita, lallana and milner can be called creative mids. Gini is very attacking. We have mane, firmino and salah. That's enough magic for any team.

I really think lovren will come good, consistently with becker behind him and fab8nho and hendo in front of him and next to vvd.

Have some faith in the players we already have. If we added the two players the op mentioned then more than half the team would be new faces. Not the team that got to ucl final, battered City 3 times and finished top 4 again, in a tough tough league.

Just buying players doesn't always work. Look at Everton last year.

I'd be worried about diluting the already great team spirit by adding too many new players. 4 is about enough. Even without becker it was a good window. Now it is a brilliant window.

Don't keep wishing for other teams players and have some faith in our own

Preach over, sorry.

I agree. If we’re going to buy replacements I’d rather wait another window or two and buy quality and the right player that just buying for the sake of it. We’ve moved beyond that now. We know the key areas were goalie and CB. We’ve got a top goalie and to be fair Lovren has stepped up and become more consistent. He should now get the benfit of the doubt and let him keep his starting place. Let’s see how things pan out in the new season. Just as our whole back 5 was more solid after VVD came, I expect BA to have a similar effect in terms of confidence on our back 4.

I hope klavan is offered a new contract. He was very good last season and he's left footed. I get what you mean salah, klavan is knocking on but a replacement at 25/ 26 will cost millions.

The guy really won me over last season.

Ed001. First time i've heard you say you don't think we will go back in for him mate. I kinda thought as much but now youve said its not happening im gutted.

I personally think that’s a bit poor considering the pre media work done etc. thought should be given to the lads mental state when a deal like this falls through. May e some lessons should be learnt?

What if another club started bidding for him, Would that force us into bidding again for him? Knowing he would not be available in another window? Would Klopp be aware we need to shift a few on first?

{Ed001's Note - I doubt it would make any difference.}

Fair enough mate. No more Fekir questions from me.

Robbiejames, I think Klavan did really well when called upon and he seems to relish a physical battle.

Yes franklymrshankly. He looked a bit edgy in his first season but was good whenever called upon last season. I think atm he is the 3rd best cb at the club and in some games he was better than lovren.

Oh I agree Robbiejames83, I'd like to think we'd keep him for another year or two after his contract ends but personally I'm leaning more towards us bringing in either another CB next summer unless Gomez really impresses which I hope to be the case. If that IS the case then we should sell Matip, keep Lovren and Klaven as backups but that's just something I want to happen not something that's likely to happen lol.

The operative phrase in ed001’s response is “not in this window” I still think that if he is still in Lyon in January and they have already been eliminated from CL then he will end up in Liverpool. If not, then he will be a summer 2019 signing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a similar situation as we saw with Keita. He wants the move and Klopp wants him. I have no sources just sifting through what I read on here.
