Hi Eds and reds, Do you have any particular journalists whose articles you enjoy reading, football wise? Even if you do not necessarily agree with the views, are there anybody's style of writing you like?

{Ed001's Note - I don't really notice to be honest. Sorry. I don't have much time to read anything other than research for articles.}

Ed1s any day of the week, no fake bs and straight to the point with a hint of humour, unlike the paper journos
(Do you count as a journalist ed1? Lol)

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea but I will take that compliment anyday.}

I don't read anyone's apart from Ed1's and MK's these days so them two would get my vote. Problem is with the majority of people out there is click bait, they make their title interesting, you click on it and its either a paragraph copied from elsewhere or its just random nonsense they have no idea about. With Ed1 and MK we're reading top notch stuff which in today's world is very rare.

Yep spot on Salah.

This is the only reliable site for football news. When you have the likes of Ed001, Ed002 and Macca sharing info you don't need anything else you can pretty much guarantee what they say is as accurate as you can get in terms of footballing news.

You then get the added bonus of the articles that get posted, the daily updates and the opinions and reviews of everybody else on the site.

{Ed001's Note - speaking of which, apologies as the review of the day will be late today. It is waiting on Ed033 to fix a coding error so I can upload any articles.}

Read everyone but always be aware of the context; is it reporting a first hand source or just rehashing someone else's work. Is it just filler or is something important being said. Is there an agenda?

If you only read one source you only get one point of view and that's not great in any type of journalism.

Good point Putney, although like the others I don’t read any “sports journalists” in terms of mainstream media. 👍.

Cheers Salah. That's really kind of you. I personally am really looking forward to reading more from Reid the Red, next season! I also enjoy Putney's occasional work though, and of course the legendary Tristan Burke-Shakespeare.

Don't be silly apologising, Philinho. I probably only post about 25 articles a year. Ed001 does that in a week sometimes. It's incomparable so I don't ever expect to be mentioned in the same breath, because frankly I don't deserve to be.

Besides, I just do it for fun really.

Cheers MK, I'm a big fan of anyone who considers something, forms an opinion and is then able to defend it, it would be great if there were more posters like you putting themselves out there.

Thanks for your replies, guys. I was talking more about reviews of games, the state of football etc rather than stories which require reliability such as transfers and other stuff. You have to pay to read the times online nowadays, but I do enjoy Henry Winter's style, pompous as he is. I just like journo's who can make you feel like you are there or can tell a story with their article, rather than simply reporting the facts. Know what I mean?

{Ed001's Note - have you tried the site thesefootballtimes?}

Bardzo, if you don't burst into flames visiting it I think the Guardian football reporting is decent and it's all free.

I have actually Ed, thanks to your recommendation a few months ago. It's a treasure trove of interesting stuff, though is mainly about players and teams from days gone by, with the odd article on current affairs. It's nice to read things that haven't been dumbed down for van man (I drive a van before anyone goes getting offended) or that actually explain some things about the game rather than using conjecture and misquotation.

Cheers, Putney. The good thing about most of the papers is that their political agendas, and ideals don't generally translate in the sport pages so you can be forgiven there mate! I'll check it out a bit more closely.

{Ed001's Note - glad you enjoy, I have always found their stuff amongst the better stuff to read. It is unusual in that it is mainly good quality, rather than the odd good quality article, like you find in the likes of the Guardian with their long read.}
