I am so relieved England were knocked out but to all the English fans on here, hard luck lads and ladies, they outdid themselves and did you all proud. I think the only thing that would have made England winning any way bearable was probably the posts on here, cos sometimes it's pleasent to see people genuinely happy. I know it sounds irritatingly corny but it was either that or coming on mocking which probably wouldn't have gone down well. Best of luck with the 3rd-4th playoff. I know it'll offer little consolation but at least you guys can enjoy them one evening more. And hopefully the media don't build them up too much moving forward. This has been a peaceful message from an Irishman still reeling from our last competitive game. Cheers.

None it will matter if Liverpool beat Bury in the actually important game this weekend 😉.

That's the worry I guess, my brain hadn't got round to that yet. Yeah they will be built up to high heavens as serious contenders for the next euroes but the truth is we had an easy draw. Strangely easy. If Germany and Spain had got through we wouldn't have got out of the last 16.

Proud of the lads, horrible to be so close to two massive trophies in a month or two. Feel for our captain, my Prince. Didn't have his best game but gets zero help from lingard or ali.

Henderson was massive for you guys. Hope he’s rested for last match, though at this point perhaps another grueling match may be exactly what his body needs. He seems to have gotten better and better as the tournament went on.

I've never understood how one can dislike another country enough to be glad at their defeat, yet love a football club which includes some of those national team players (who are likely gutted right now) and is based in that same country. Seems so hypocritical to have hatred for England (not saying you hate, but. ) and then in the same breath you can declare love for an English team.

Totti, I will rejoice in their pain because they all rejoiced in ours when we lost the Champions League final. I'm getting bitter with age.

I'm pretty much English (roughly 1/ 16th Welsh from my dad's side) and even I hate England at times. I hope They all cried themselves to sleep 😂 the "It's coming home" memes were great fun though.

Totti, how about this, do you love Liverpool? Do you hate Manchester United? How can you hate one and love the other yet still love watching the game. There are plenty things I don’t like about england that doesn’t mean I hate. some people just can’t take an attempt at a respectable post.

I'm Northern Irish and my misses is English, all I've heard all tournament, "its coming home". You lot flapped your best chance to win the world cup in my life time. Columbia, Sweden and Croatia? My god, 100% you should of made the final comfortably, sure France would have hammered you but then at least you'd have matched reasonable expectation, did well my arse.

Aoe is Irish though. Scouse are made from Irish blood sweat and tears.

My dad was Scottish and he loved liverpool coz of all the Scottish players. We've had great players from Ireland wales and Scotland. Ireland is one country in my eyes. I studied "the troubles" a little for my course and was ashamed to be born in England.

Ray Houghton doesn't get many mentions, I thought he was great. Is he on the list Ed01 mate?

One day there will be no more legends left and it'll just be fellini and Kieran dier looking to ed01 with hopeful eyes!

I have to say it. Being a Non-Brit, I'm amazed, when reading these pages, at how many don't care for the national Brit teams. Just seems so strange to me to unconditionally support a local team but not the national one. Just weird, to me.

I’m English. I just can’t be bothered with England.

“It’s coming home” was a reference to the fact that England hosted Euro 96, so it was “coming home”.

Now “it’s coming home” seems to have been twisted to mean “England are going to win the World Cup”. I don’t get it.
I dislike England because they have unjustified arrogance. Have a bit of respect for your opponents who have much better players than you do. We’ve won nothing, not been in a final for 52 years. Get a friggin grip and some humility.

The only good thing about England being knocked out is, all the bloody pundits can finally stop over praising the team.
The hype was unbearable at times that when I watched the games, I was majorly disappointed in how boring it was to watch.

Still gutted though mind, but I think France would have demolished that back 3 so it may have been a blessing in disguise.
