Hiya Ed here is my take on the goalkeeping situation. First of all we need a top keeper so just go out and pay the money. Now of course maybe the keeper want's to go to another club or other reasons but if the money is there to go and buy a top keeper then go out and do . Now if we don't get in a top keeper then we HAVE to back Karius and I mean back. We can't crucifi him if he makes a mistake. Now I know there will be some people going mad if Karius is no1 for the Weast Ham game but you or I or anyone else on here is in charge so it's not our desesion. Anyway let's see what happens but if it's Karius support the lad's. Take care all.

You're right about backing Karius but the rest is a bit contradictory.
If the money is there go and spend it, but the player might not want to come. We are not going to go spend massive money if the few targets we want are not interested. Very few top class keepers and a few top teams looking for them. They are also at decent teams to begin with. Oblak for one might have no interest or reason the leave A. Madrid.

Macca may have a different opinion but I think we will stick with Karius for another season. He looked good towards the end of last season and could come off good this season.

Lovren has been a huge hit at the world cup so far. If he brings that form into the season alongside VVD, then we have a CB pairing that could help us well into the season. Not forgetting critical contributions from the likes of Alexander-Arnold and Robertson.

It’s a good point Barry. If we buy someone may as well buy big regardless of cl final otherwise, there is no point in spending a half fortune on an average keeper when we already have a decent keeper. What I would say is, I’m hopeful karius takes the next step up in his development. As of now I think he’s well above average with great room to improve. I think the final will be the makings of him. I really think he has the physical attributes to be excellent. It’s the mental ones I’ve been wary of. I genuinely think he’s spent the entire summer wanting to redeem himself. I expect he’s done all to forget the feeling of that terrible night and is pushing himself harder than ever in training.

Think I need to go to MK to learn how to write a post. What I mean Kloppshop is maybe we do have the money to spend on a top keeper but maybe the keeper we want may no want join us and that's where the full 100% support for Karius comes in. As I said we will see.

Are we backing Mignolet as well or are we being selective?

Barry, Im not sure we do have the money. If I remember correctly, Im sure Ed002 suggested just recently that we were pushing the limits of FFP regulations. Im sure Ed002 will correct this statement if Im wrong, but Im sure I read this recently.

{Ed002's Note - People forget that there are bottom line payments for past purchases to be made each season - the last submitted accounts for the season before last showed that to be £79M. Liverpool need to raise money if they are to keep spending significantly. They would get that through sales.}
