Anyone else worried about England. I mean we're two wins away from sir raheem sterling and sir Ashley young.

Not bothered if that happens. If England win it’s on merit. Plus Sir Jordan Henderson sounds good to me.

Is there a summer tournament this year? I thought that was next year.

Sadly they'll only knight the captain. One of the reasons I'm not sure I want England to win it. If Kane gets any more ego massaging his head will be bigger than Maguire's!

WTF guys!
Worried about England winning the world cup. Nonsense I'd be over the moon if we won it. Best thing ever and makes up for the ECL loss.
The only downside for me as a LFC fan is the Ox and Gomez misisng from the squads.

Knighthoods have been a joke for many years.

'makes up for the ECL loss'

Really?

Makes up for the ECL loss? Metaphorically speaking, I spit on that statement!

If i had to choose, I'd rather Liverpool beat Tramere Rovers in the friendly, than England beat Croatia in the semi 😂

I like seeing England do well but only because they generally have more Liverpool players than other countries have.

Liverpool football club. That is all.

Salah for me seeing England win the World Cup would make up for the loss of the ECL. It is something I doubted I could imagine seeing in my lifetime.
I felt a lot worse after the 2007 Final against Milan as we should of won that game we played the better. But got over that.

It’s only really hit me today. We lost the champions league final. I’m completely gutted. No WC win for England will compensate for this I’m afraid. We lost the god damn CL final!

I respect the comment but never in a million years will any England victory make up for any Liverpool loss no matter how big or small the game.
International football bores me and for me is behind the premiership and Champions league is terms of excitement
just my opinion though.

Thanks MK Scouser : (

I understand what your saying but nothing can take my buzz away from how well we are doing as a nation. Of course i'd be gutted if we got to the final and lost it but actually challenging for a title is refreshing from the previous attempts.

Plus getting a top 4 spot is great but not the same as winning the league. that's what I hope for as a LFC and England fan.

I seem to be on my own on this one.

But great to see this red passion from all the posters on here. #YNWA.

Honestly mate, it was only light hearted. I have no problem with people being passionate about their country. I would consider myself an England fan, but I am a Liverpool Supporter. I will actively hope for Liverpool to do better whereas with England it is more of an outsider looking in kind of thing. Like watching another English team in the Champions league. I want them to win, but I'm not fussed if they don't.

Haha, I don't see how it is relevant to the Champion's League Final at all. If England winning the World Cup makes you happy, that would be nice for you, but it's got nothing to do with Liverpool aside from Hendo and Trent. If Ireland won the World Cup (in a land of goblins and fairies, but bear with me here) I'd be delighted, but it would not make up for the CL heartbreak, they are totally separate things.

Sir Gareth and a team of CBE's is what it would be.

I was born English. I chose to be a Liverpool fan (and have been one for 40 years watching many a game at Anfield and away from home) . I am super proud to be both English and a red however if I had to choose between my country winning the WC (likely a once in a lifetime experience, hasn't happened so far) or winning the CL or top league i. e. Premier/ old 1st division (which have both happened in my lifetime already) I would want my country of birth to win every time.

Next week if we win (or lose) then I'll revert back to wanting my beloved Liverpool to win the quadruple for the next 4 years until the next WC :)

Juergen I resent the goblins slur. The faery land cup has had enough problems as it is without faeters coming in and spitting leprechauns all over it. Ireland has a rich tradition in this tournament and one of these decades will get out of the group stages once we learn to put our jerseys on inside out. Faith and begorrah man. Faith and begorrah!

Jurgen I think he knows they are seperate things. I think he means in terms of his own feelings. If England won the World Cup it would make him happy, and would therefore make up for the champions league final loss as in footballing terms, he’s seen a side he supports win on the big stage. In that regard, they are similar and I’m with you sukhyrai. It won’t make up for the loss, but it will make it easier to digest and fill a hole in my footballing heart that’s still a bit broken from that UCL final.

10 Jul 2018 12:28:08
Not sure you support LFC, if you do you would not have said that.

No way in a million years will England losing a WC final be equal to LFC losing an ECL final. We have non-England fans supporting LFC, how do you handle that?

I would take a continuous run in an ECL final over an England WC win any-day any-time.

LFC first, Britain second. England winning would be fantastic and I would celebrate, however I would be just as happy if Wales, Scotland or Northen Ireland were ever doing well. Choice is everything. I choose LFC because I fell in love with the reds. I never had a choice about being British, and therein the connection, feeling and passion is different. I’m not saying it’s not there, it’s just different. LFC premier league over an England World Cup any day of the week, any week of the year, from now until the day I die.

10 Jul 2018 17:44:28
I want England to win the World Cup but the difference between England and Liverpool is that if England lose in the final on Sunday I’ll be miserable until Tuesday. Since Liverpoool lost to Real I’ve been miserable ever since. Not even a World Cup win will make up for it.

Generally speaking it takes a new season to start before I get over previous season’s disappointments.

Romeo that is just your opinion though, not matter of fact. I’m sure the non English LFC fans support their own country and want them to do well.

Great respects to anyone who chooses to only support a club, or only support their country. But. that doesn’t make people who support both their club and country wrong Or less of a supporter. It’s not a one or the other scenario.

If England win the World Cup it brings a togetherness across the country between fans who are usually bitter towards eachother and I think that’s brilliant. But I’m still a passionate Liverpool supporter and will have the banter with them again come August.
