Im not sure the MTV style video Lauris Karius has posted about his jollies in L. A. will help make people think he's anything more than a champagne Charlie. I read that some former players of very successful Liverpool teams of the past were not impressed with the way he carries himself in the City and this won't help. Keep your head down, train hard and don't post your pop staresk videos. Surely the best way to win people round.

05 Jul 2018 11:45:54
It was Didi who commented on his lifestyle. I don't think enjoying your down time and having a personalised number plate makes you a "champagne charlie". As long as Karius trains really hard and listens to his coaches, I couldn't care less about his Instagram career or his Range Rover. Anybody who has a problem with footballers for trying to enjoy themselves is a complete knob. Maybe if they were allowed to have lives without being dissected by pathetic journalists or hypocritical ex-players, their wouldn't be so many footballers battling mental health issues. It could be worse, he could be down the recreation grounds behind the bushes with media darlings Rooney and Wilshere smoking crack and drinking lager in secret. That would be much more appropriate than posing for a photo with his beautiful dog 🤦‍♂️.

I agree with you kimuraking. He hasn't done enough in the game to go about with LK1 on his number plates. At least the video shows he has not dwelled too much on his mistakes and is in good cheer. Give me a confident keeper over an unsure one. Still, I'd rather he was in the sticks facing Bale type thunder shots ALL DAY LONG.

3.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:07:43
I’m also with kimuraking. Didi is not someone who lived a 100% professional lifestyle (I’m led to believe) so I don’t imagine he’d criticise without justification.

Enjoy yourself, great!

Don’t post a video about it, people saved for months to go to Kiev and he ruined that for them but it’s ok because he’s enjoying himself spending that money in the USA.

It’s about self-awareness. Fans pay a lot of money to the club and players should respect that. He’s rubbing people’s noses in it IMO.

4.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:10:56
Oh god, not the personalized number plate on his car rubbish again?

5.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:11:28
I think most of us said at the beginning of last season that mignolet would cost us games and I'm thinking the same the start of this season I think karius will cost us games it's only my opinion but I do think we need to get a keeper in.

6.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:15:08
Yeah he is allowed to have fancy number plates brisbane but I think people were expecting a more humble Karius this season.

7.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:23:45
Its getting made out that only the those who are famous can get personalised number plates. Christ! I work in a call centre and there is at least 3 people here with them. Just leave the lad alone!

8.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:25:46
So now our players get stick for enjoying their off season break? Seriously?

9.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:29:42
Personally, I think anyone with a personalised plate has too much money or else they'd actually spend it on something important. LK1 would cost more than I'd see in a year. He should take a leaf out of some of the more generous players and show people his obscene wealth is doing something useful, then fans wouldn't think he doesn't care about anything but being a spoilt rich twit. And no, having a personalised plate worth thousands is not enjoying yourself, it's just plain showing off.

10.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:33:01
He earned the money and can spend it the way he wants. Like Floyd Mayweather says, "I earned it, I didn't steal it".
If he keeps works hard in training and performs superbly everytime, I don't care if the tiles in his bathroom are personalised.

11.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:33:45
Mmmm, he is a pro footballer though lamborini and copying cr7 who is undoubtedly one of the finest players around, won tonnes and tonnes of major titles. As far as I know Karius has won absolutely nothing. Perhaps he should concentrate more on achieving his goals than running around like the big I am. It's his fellow professional footballers, people who have won European cups, who are calling him out about it.

In a weird way it kinda says he is already happy with what he has achieved, playing for a big side and that kinda makes me think he is not hungry enough. I'd prefer him to say "when we win the league I'm going to get a personalised number plate. "

12.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:48:45
Number plate - don’t care
Enjoying off season - don’t care

Posting videos about it - I’ve got a problem with that. It sends out the wrong message to fans IMO.

13.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:53:25
Really? Moaning about someone enjoying themselves on their time off in pre-season? Think you guys really need to get a grip.
Social media is part of the younger generation, its pretty normal every day life for them, if you don't like it then don't watch it, pretty simple. Its got embarassing the way our so called support use anything to have a go at some players. How would you like it if everyone around was criticising your performance in your job and then giving you dogs abuse in your spare time as well?
As long as he busts a gut to improve in training and gives his all to improve then surely he deserves to be treated with respect.

14.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:53:42
I don't really care what Karius got up to on his holiday. After all he is a young millionare, who wouldn't be flash? I only hope that he learned his lesson and never ever in his career rolls a ball out to an opposing striker ever again. I'm pretty sure he won't. If he does my only hope is he does it playing for someone else.

15.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 12:59:54
I have to be honest Ron, you have really wound me up over Karius. After the final you posted really patronising fake messages of support and pretended you were worried about his career because of how "easily he got concussed". It was a blatantly insincere backhanded message of support but I assumed you were just hurting. Now you are twisting the knife and bleating about him having "springs in his palms" etc.

I'm sorry mate because I know you are not the only guilty party here, but I like you and I have come to expect better from you. I've really tried not to rise to your comments but you need calling out for it now because it is completely out of character and if I've noticed it, believe me when I say that others have too. It has gone too far and has turned to vitriol.

We only get about 80 years in this hell hole so expecting Karius to waste months of his life not living because of your petty jealousy and inability to forgive is just downright disgusting. I'm too much of an opinionated sphincter to keep my mouth shut any longer, so I'm sorry in advance, but I don't think you realise how bad you are coming across.

16.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 13:09:25
How has he not been humble Prince Hendo? Im not getting it. Personalized number plate? Big deal. I have them too. Im not arrogant. Post videos while he is on holidays? Big deal. Millions of people do that everyday on their holidays. Are we really suggesting he can't have personalized number plates because he " hasn't won anything like Ronaldo" and doing so somehow makes him arrogant or less humble? Someone needs to explain to me like Im dumb because Im just not understanding it.

17.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 13:10:43
MKS - I repeat : number plate (don’t care), enjoying himself (don’t care) posting videos about it for all the world to see. - I have a problem with that.

If it was a video of him doing extra training - like Keita - he would get praise from me.

Please don’t pretend you speak for me by your interpretation of my posts. I was worried about Karius in the immediate aftermath - it seems, from recent evidence- my worries were unfounded. I still worry about him playing again and I’d prefer he retired. I don’t want him playing for LFC again because he’s simply not good enough for us to succeed.

I won’t hold this unnecessary criticism of my posts against you 🤝.

18.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 13:39:28
Just another stick to beat the guy with. It's pathetic. We are ment to be supporters not life coaches or social media judges.

19.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 13:43:33
Who are you trying to convince, Ron? Because It's not me.

20.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 13:44:43
Flying Meerkat, if I make mistakes in my job people die, so I can't make mistakes as the concequences are dire. I never once critised his work just how he presents himself out side of it when it really is not justified or warranted I have nothing against anyone enjoying themselves but this incessant need to show it off is what annoys me. Richest man in Britan James Dyson, don't see him doing it. It's about humility and an understanding of how to behave. Getting a drone to take aerial shots of your rented L. A. hillside Mansion is decedent and pretentious, and what has he done to deserve such leeway. I support any player as a footballer wearing my teams shirt, does not mean I have to like, agree or accept how they act out side of that.

21.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 14:12:04
Kimuraking, why does it upset you when you see others doing well for themself or being happy? It makes me happy seeing these things. I love his house, I love his car, and I love his dog. Who here has never bought a new car, pair of boots, house etc and no put a post online about it? It's completely normal.

I rather think some people aren't cut out for social media. The whole purpose of it is to share your day to day lives with other people. For me, that is a picture of my son and a Shepherds pie the Mrs cooked. I'm not going to think twice about sharing it just in case I upset someone who can't have kids or doesn't have a loving partner to cook them dinner. If they're offended, they can always be the adult and scroll past my posts 🤷‍♂️ in fact, if they're not happy I'm happy I hope they pipe up so I can cut them from my lives like the toxic tumour they are 👀.

{Ed001's Note - I worry about the inanity of a world where people feel they have to share their day to day lives with everyone else. It's your life, I don't need to bloody well share it with you. No offence but I don't care about your dog and shepherd's pie or Karius's dog and shepherd's pie. The internet is being destroyed by this kind of crap. Just keep it to yourselves.}

22.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 14:26:45
That's fair enough Ed001, but you are not accusing me or Karius of being bad people for wanting to share these things. It doesn't make you arrogant if you are proud of what you have; be that emotional or materialistic wealth. What people have to remember is that for every 100 people who Don't want to see it, there is a friend, a member of family, or maybe a fan (in Karius's case) who do want to see it.

If nobody wanted to see it, nobody would like comment or share the post. If nobody did that, Karius wouldn't post it. You don't like seeing this stuff but I suspect you are therefore mature enough to just not use Facebook or Twitter.

It is very easy to avoid these posts after all. You are also not being a hypocrite. You hate the sharing of anything about other people's lives, not just the rich people doing it. If you want to see Keith's paddling pool, but Don't want to see Karius's Range Rover, that smacks of jealousy. If you don't want to see either, you're a grumpy old man but
at least you're consistent 😉.

{Ed001's Note - I don't have any of those sites because I would rather not waste my time seeing what somebody had for dinner. I am a grumpy old man, but that is not why I don't want to see it. I just don't give a toss what you had for dinner. I am not Barbara Royle, I have a brain and don't want to waste it on inanity.}

23.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 14:32:35
I couldn't care what karius does on off season or anything beyond game time tbh BUT Im actually embarrassed for him! The levels of vanity and self indulgence ooozzzing from that video was nauseating. honestly this kind of video would make ronaldo blush! Focus on catching a football struck from 40yards and not striking a pose all over hollywood. CRINGE!

24.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 14:33:28
The amount of bitterness and needyness is this post is ridiculous.

{Ed002's Note - Maybe the bleating Liverpool players should look at the grief caused to the club by the likes of Flanagan and Firmino.}

25.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 14:39:06
I thought it was one of those USA holiday adverts, where they get the beautiful of LA to promote it. On the other hand it’s his money and he can do what he wants with it, I just thought after the turmoil he’s had to endure I thought he might have kept his head under the parapet a bit, but if he can prove me wrong and come back mentally stronger and a better keeper, I’m all for it.

26.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 14:57:52
Firmino might have been arrested for drink driving Ed002, but at least the vehicle he was illegally driving had the factory spec license plate! 😉

Some people eh!

27.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 14:45:40
Exactly my point though 001. You have a brain so you used it and just avoided seeing things you don't like. These moaners are shooting themselves in the foot and blaming the guy who made the gun!

I would also like to add to everyone that Karius is the same age as me and whilst I still use the same photo from 2015, most people my age are uploading new selfies from Thailand then Australia then Prague, every few days. Karius is not unique with this behaviour. It's just what my generation do because we Don't know how to tie our shoelaces and therefore leave the house 🤷‍♂️ unless you're 'smart' like me and buy Velcro trainers 😁.

{Ed001's Note - it gives us old people something to moan about.}

28.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 15:14:51
You're not old Ed001, you are vintage 😉 besides, you and the rest of the Eds have created a place on the internet where we can all escape the pictures of shepherds pie and just argue about football; the way the world should be 👍.

{Ed001's Note - good point, I mean what would life be like without footie? Unbearable! However we could all live without shepherd's pie.}

29.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 15:25:21
Oooooooohhh Ed2, do not take Firminhos name in vain on this site or there will be meltdowns all over the place.

30.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 16:02:37
I’m not trying to convince anyone MKS, if you don’t like my posts, that’s unfortunate. No need to write an esssy about me, when you don’t even know me. 🤝.

31.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 16:02:54
Life without football? Bloody hell. We'd have to watch them Rugby lot cuddling Each other and only playing negative backwards passes 🤔.

32.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 16:45:46
'I am a grumpy old man'

You said it Ed1 ;) you old bugger you!

lol I'm not taking any sides in this debate and not getting into it but for the record I'm the same with Social Media, I just don't see the need for it because there's many many issues with it and so many people are unaware of half of them as well, I've said it 100 times before and will continue saying it, it's poison.

People share their life publicly and it's a problem believe me, it's a real problem. People can easily use it against you at some point. It'd make my job a hell of a lot easier if people didn't use social media. I could go on and on about it till I'm blue in the face but will shut up there because it's taking this off point, instead I'll grab some popcorn and sit back :) .

{Ed001's Note - I know of people who have been rejected for jobs or lost jobs on the strength of things posted on social media. The worst of it is that you can never truly delete what you post on FB, for example, as they will never allow you to. It is their property, not yours and you sign away your rights when you join.}

33.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 16:58:24
Never mind charity football match we should do a white collar night and get MK and RON in a ring to kick the night off. we will make a fortune for charity lol I’m up for it 👍👍🤣.

34.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 17:00:25
Wasn't an essay about you was it, Ron. It was 3 short paragraphs about 2 months of your snide digs at Karius. If you didn't mean them how they read, you'd have apologised for the way they came across instead of spinning it all on me to cover the fact you've been called out.

I like your posts in general for the record and I have already explained that I like you. Otherwise I'd have dismissed you as another troll.

35.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 17:09:38
Unfortunately Ed, you are 100% correct. If I posted something right now on there and deleted it later, it's never gone, people may think it is but it's not lol you can only request your data from them but you can't fully erase it, they own our data, not us. We're just puppets to their system.

I know what you mean regarding the employment side of things too, many employers are looking to social media to check a person out before offering an interview/ job or if they're employed already an employer may follow/ friend you to keep an eye on you. With Social media nothing is private even if your profile is set to private it means bugger all so it's always baffled me why people are so hooked on it?

Then, it's the new form of bullying nowadays which has proved to be a huge problem especially with teenagers and young adults. I've heard of cases, children as young as 10 years old taking their own lives because of cyber bullying. So yeah, I'm 100% against the whole lot of it. If it was up to me it'd be all shut down.

Every single day I'm at work I have to deal with something social media related, at least once a day, maybe more sometimes.

{Ed001's Note - sadly people are addicted to it and struggle to spend even an hour without checking it to see if they have had a like or other response to their post.}

36.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 17:15:33
MKS - stick to football analysis and stop getting personal please. 🤝

Who are you to “call” anyone “out”? Remember your history 🤝.

Ouch no on the ropes lol.

38.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 18:47:09
Ron, if you think I'm questioning you as a person then I apologise for how my posts on this thread appeared to you. Of everything I've said, I have only intended to question the way your recent posts have come across. I felt I made it very clear that your posts seemed out of character to me (I don't think you're a bad person) but clearly not.

I apologised for things I said when I was suffering with depression by the way, so That's just another unnecessary attempt at deflection. This isn't about me thinking I'm better than you. This is me challenging your posts, not your personality.

All i wanted was you to explain what you really meant when you accused Karius of being 1) susceptible to concussion, 2) too mentally weak to come back from the mistakes, and 3) having springs on his palms. How else should I interpret those comments?

Why are you refusing to take them back if your only problem with Karius is that you "don’t want him playing for LFC again because he’s simply not good enough for us to succeed. "

1. Concussion is not a simple condition. A glancing blow can cause anyone to suffer and it does not mean they should "retire".

2. Karius has already proven once that he has what it takes mentally to come back from being written off by the fans.

3. Karius is a Premier League goalkeeper who played every game to get us to the Champions League final so he clearly doesn't have springs for hands.

I agree with you that we need a better keeper. I've just written actual essays all about it! That isn't what you've consistently said though. You've essentially accused Karius of being completely inept physically, mentally and ability wise. That for me, is grossly unfair.

I've explained why the comments annoyed me and I can't do anything else but I'm not going to be made to feel uncomfortable every time I log in without at least having my say. Again though, sorry if you thought I meant this as any slight against you as a person 🤝.

39.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 18:56:37
Hmasson2, I think I'm too young to fight a man who moans about social media 😉 (joking by the way! )

40.) 05 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 19:11:28
Ed I thought there was a typo when you wrote inanity of it all. perhaps Im losing intelligence by the general decline of society . personally believe it should be insanity. Back in London 2 weeks ago I had to avoid being in someones selfie of some girl on the tube. she was telling everyone she was on the tube. Who the f wants to know that?! I too am a grumpy old man, its come far too soon that I am saying I remember, or before fb.

{Ed001's Note - both work I think, inanity can lead to insanity. I mean people die every day taking selfies ffs.}

41.) 06 Jul 2018
05 Jul 2018 23:42:46
Relating to the above: I don't know if many remember the movie The Devil's Advocate, but there is a small speech in it which depicts brilliantly how so many of us would become self-obsessed, narcissistic and vainglorious individuals as we embrace the digital world.

How prescient it was, and Karius is yet another exemplar of this phenomenon. Maybe he should show some humility rather than a ignoble pride, as it works better to address the underlying inferiority complex which underpins his and others need to broadcast their banal existence as a form of self-aggrandizement.

42.) 06 Jul 2018
06 Jul 2018 11:00:38
I'm 33, not old, not young. All I know is I was the age that MySpace and Facebook was aimed at when they both came on the scene and even then, as a teenager I didn't like the change it brought in my social groups and society in general, almost overnight. Then twitter came and just emphasised that social media has created a generation of arrogant, self absorbed people that don't realise that no one gives a ship what you've had for dinner, where you ate it or who you ate it with and, more importantly, how happy you are PRETENDING to be. The world is worse off for social media. Facebook are aware of that or else they wouldn't be admitting they're facilitating evil within their new TV adverts (using photos and videos that they didn't have to ask permission to use) .

To be fair to Karius, all he has done is become the person he is expected to be in this world right now. It makes me sick, but then again, I realise there's more to life than telling everyone how awesome I am.
