Brilliant read mate. Got feeling whoever takes gamble with Donnarama could end up with an absolutely fantastic gk at a stupidly young age. But as you say its a gamble as unfortunately he seems to have a flaw in his attitude. The hope being is take him away from milan and fresh start in different country with new people to focus him could be what he needs.

I agree Coco9. Somebody could get a bargain there. However, they could also end up with a disruptive underperformer on high wages! I hope It's not Liverpool who take the gamble either way. Looks like we're going to struggle to get a keeper Klopp really wants. I hope they do take a look at Sommer though. No doubt he'll be prematurely written off for only being 6ft tall, but the bloke soars like a bloody Falcon when he comes out for crosses. Ray Clemence was 6ft too!

Good read,

Can’t see Sommer being a success in this country, he would get bullied like our current incumbents.

its not donnarama's attitude that's the problem, its his agent. keep away from anything Riola is selling. he is looking to make money and for that he would turn heads of his clients showing them brighter and richer pastures at places that won't suit them.
Donnarama cannot play outside Italy just like balotelli cant.

Ron, you'd be surprised mate. He is very physical. Don't be deceived by his height. There are some very big strikers and centre backs in the Bundesliga and he stands up to all of them no bother. Winning the ball in the air is as much about timing and agression as it is about height. Just ask Tim Cahill or Carles Puyol!

Riola doesn't help matters at all, ak. Donarumma has much more ability than Balotelli but I understand the comparison. Both are players who should be doing much more than they are.

{Ed001's Note - he is a problem in that he wants to move his players to a club that can actually afford to build a team to challenge. Milan are in trouble, yes he wants his client out. He certainly does not want to move players where he thinks they cannot perform, quite the opposite and it is idiotic to suggest otherwise. The better they perform, the more money he stands to make.}

Good article mk. I like sommer, except he makes me question my sexuality. Always been impressed with him and I've never noticed he was shortish. Who does he play for? The werder bremen keeper sounds good too.

I don't personally have any issue with Raiola Ed001 as I'm sure he just wants what is best financially for him and his clients. I do have doubts whether he would look to place Donarumma with us? I always got the impression he'd rather put his clients at clubs who can offer more lucrative financial packages. We are not exactly paying wages and signing on fees that can match clubs like City, Arsenal, United, PSG, Madrid, Barca, Juventus etc. Apologies if it came across as me questioning his integrity, as I was just trying to avoid the conversation with ak if I'm honest. I don't like discussing agents. He wouldn't have so many clients if he didn't get players good deals. I don't think he has the best record of getting players in at clubs which suit them, but I also don't think he intentionally funnels them down the wrong path for his own benefit.

Prince Hendo, he plays for Borussia Monchengladbach. They rate him as one of the best keepers in the league nearly every year. He's so consistent.

Really good read, especially as someone that doesn’t watch much of the bundesliga.

Ok Mk but Karius did well in Germany.

It’s a completely different level of intensity over here.

Omeone just said clem was 6ft! Didn't hold him back too much. I guess the plus side is more agility and he must be pretty special to make it at a high level being only 6ft. I'm surprised we haven't looked at him. He has always impressed me for Swiss. Anyone know how old he is?

I'd be happy if we took a gamble on Donarumma. Nothing much to lose if we are not going to go for an established keeper like oblak or Alisson, Donarumma is better than Karius and younger. Worth a gamble for 30-40 mill imo.

He's 29 Prince Hendo.

Jordz, if he knuckles down then I really think he'll be the best in the world one day. To be fair to him, the uncertainty at Milan that Ed001 mentioned, perhaps isn't helping with his focus. He is only 19!

No worries Salah. Zeddicus asked so I did my best. Sorry I didn't include Scuffet by the way, Zeddicus. It took so long to post this because I was trying to find the time to watch some of his games from last season buy I've not had any time at all. I didn't want to base an assessment on YouTube. I'll try and watch him next season if I get a chance.

Ron, Karius has been just as good for Liverpool as he was for Mainz. Maybe better. The difference is that German fans don't turn on their young players as quickly. Hence why England are going to start losing a lot of their young players to the Bundesliga.

Didn't Markus win the "third best keepee" award in Germany in his last season? So your opinion might be that he has been better, but it is only your opinion. Also when will these young English players start leaving for Germany because I haven't heard of too many if I'm honest.

{Ed001's Note - there have been quite a few, they are just youth players, so only the big names like Jadon Sanchez actually get coverage.}

He think he was voted 2nd best by the Bundesliga fans, Rover. But he was playing in a weak team where he had to make lots of saves. He's improved a lot at Liverpool, but you are right in that just being my opinion. I never declared it as a fact though.

As Ed001 said, it is mainly youth players so far. Brewster was very close to moving there. Oxford and Burke have gone there on loan deals but may go permanently. Sancho went to Dortmund. It is getting to be much more common, mainly because German fans aren't as spiteful and volatile so the club's can take risks on younger players without the risk of a backlash.
