Ed 001 has there been any player at this world cup who has surprised you or you have thought have been brilliant that's not like an obvious shout just someone under the radar.

The Iranian goalie has looked the business. Commanded his box made a few big saves and his long throw has been something to marvel.

{Ed001's Note - but he had an absolute mare for the first 20 minutes or so yesterday.}

I think it's been a strange one Ronaldo and Kane top scorers but neither have played particularly well. Kanes all round game I think has actually been pretty poor. I have had a soft spot for that big mean bastard Russia got up front tho!

Only seen the 2nd half of that match Ed 001 was cooking burgers on my BBQ at that time lol. The lad did catch my attention though probably him being unknown to me and us looking at keepers.

{Ed001's Note - he was good after that but it could well have been too late as he dropped a simple catch and made a few other mistakes that could have been costly on another day.}

If you score 5 goals in 2 games, as a striker, it means he's played well. If a striker touches the ball once to score the winner then he has played well.

Do you understand what all round game means? It is very possible to score a winner and still have an otherwise poor game. He scored 2 penalties and deflected a shot which he knew nothing about for his hattrick. Granted they were good pens but his hold up and link up play were shocking.

Who cares, if Kane scores hat tricks I don't care about " all round game ". If he keeps it up and scores two or three a game England will win the World Cup.

Luka Modric has been the standout player imo. Keisuke Honda has also looked very bright and has had significant impact in the cameos he's been given.

You right nobody has really stood out. No team has even set the world alight. Croatia and Belgium have probably been the pick of what I've seen and I'd love Croatia to win it.
As an outsider who doesn't actually mind England I wouldn't be getting too excited the 2 teams yous have played are very poor and when England come up against a team that keeps the ball and has any quality at all in attack they will concede goals. Those 3 at the back are terrible. Walker is too cocky and makes crazy decisions like tring to faint by a striker square in front of the goal. Stones is okay but shakey and Maguire is just a poor footballer and defender. Great on attacking set pieces though.

All the other poor teams in the other groups are playing well and drawing/ beating the top teams, but England beat their opposition and they’re poor.

I like the New England, they look fresh, a threat, creative, fit and positive. We’ve had a ‘golden generation’ in the past, how has that worked out? I like watching England now because they’re playing with no fear.

I think they have a chance of winning it because they’re a team. Not the most gifted bunch on paper but a team.

There is a striker in Brazil, not Jesus but the other one, he looks class.

Also I quite like the centre back for Croatia, the one who plays along side Vida. there is a 19 year old right back who plays for England, he looks like he will be pretty good one day, should give him a chance.

The Jordie who plays in midfield for England is not to bad either and of course there is the Senegalese left winger and the Egyptian right winger, they would be great in a team along side the Brazilian striker.

I agree though Bledd Kane has looked bang average. 2 tap ins in the first game from set pieces 2 pens and an extremely lucky deflection in the second game and he’s suddenly the best striker in the world.

Let’s conveniently forget the fact that he couldn’t trap a bag of cement in the other 179 minutes and 55 seconds he’s played!
That’s what we do though don’t we? We build him up so when he misses a sitter and we go out we can push him off from an even greater height!

I don't know but I have actually been surprised by Rakitic, in this World Cup. A sort of "comeback kid".
