Shaqiri was good tonight goal, nearly a wonder goal, effective passing, and showing strength an pace in the 90th minute too score, I thought it before the Brazil game an now still after Serbia, he is an excellent back up and would b good in rotation.

For the reported 12 million I think he would be a good squad player and better than what we have on the bench currently I've seen loads of people say he is lazy and doesn't run so they must have been to a lot more Stoke and Switzerland games than me to back that up. I'd be interested to see if anyone actually had access to his average running stats whilst playing premier league football.

There is simply no other option than to sign him for me if it is truly for 12/ 14 million. Even to buy him and flip him in January we could make 25 million.

{Ed0333's Note - Why would we buy now and sell in January? You realize we’re a football club not one of these real estate shows on American TV.

Kloppsboss these are human beings with lives and families to settle in new homes you can’t just ‘flip’ them after 6 months to make a profit. With that attitude what players would want to sign for us in the future?

While im divided on shaqiri myself the question does remain, is there a better player in world football you could get for 12 to 14 million?

We need squad depth. that's obvious and although he doesn't tick all the boxes he does score goals.

Its a head scratcher.

In an ideal world he would sign for 12 million take 70 grand a week and be happy to be a squad player. If that was the case what's the problem?

He would suit our squad way better than lallana. So ship lallana out and sign shaqiri And actually save a few pennies.

Im divided but in that case its a no brainer when you think about it.

{Ed001's Note - sorry but there are lots of better players you can get, if you search around. We don't need squad depth that isn't good enough, but is cheap. That is the kind of idiocy that Rafa employed that destroyed the team he was building. You only buy those that are good enough.}

But Salah and mane weren't ripping much up ed before us.

Chamberlain certainly wasn't.

Wijnaldum had just been relegated as had Robertson. Loren was on the outside. Taa was in the academy.

Shaqiri has all the tools you literally just need to see if klopp can get into his head like he did with the others and switch it all on.

As for being a reality tv show that is a pro the fact that it's a transfer that would make us money if it failed. What's wrong with that. Basically it's risk free.

He flops and worse case is we sell him to West ham for 25 million next summer.

The problem we have is is there anyone better than Salah?

But we still need cover there. Shaqiri is perfect.

{Ed001's Note - oh here we go ridiculous comparisons to try and suggest the stupidity of signing the crap is a good thing. Done talking about this, it just brings out lunatic comparisons that have nothing to do with it.}

I don't disagree with what your saying ed001 i wouldn't be moaning if we didn't sign him but at 12 to 14 million i wouldn't be getting angry if we did.

Its a meh one for me.

Although there may be younger players out there that you could pick up for around the same price it would probaby take them a few years before they are ready and develop fully.

I don't think there are many senior players out there for the same price cause the market has gone crazy.

Its probably a debate other fans are having about sturridge albeit for different reasons ofcourse.

Like i said before im divided on.

Not fond of the attitude at all but im pretty sure klopp wouldn't sign him if he didn't think he could sort that out.

Maybe he has no intentions of signing him at all. Who knows.

{Ed001's Note - I don't care about the price, even if he is paying 12m to come he is not worth having. He spends 85 minutes strolling around the pitch, hands on hips, with the odd arm throw into the air when the ball isn't handed to him on a plate even though he is making no attempt whatsoever to show for it or to help win it back. He is all that is wrong with football. Crap player for stupid money.}

People saying shaquiri is cheap and you won't find a player of his calibre for 12mil. there is a reason he is 12mil, cheap, coz he ain't all that. If I watched Liverpool I would cringe twice a year when shaquiri scores, crosses his arm and makes a proud face like a 10 year old. He's a knob, we all know it. Matip was free and Is probably a better player than shaquiri so of course you can find good players cheap, look at robbo, by the end of the season he was pretty good. Shaquiri is a lazy rumour, has legs coz he is controversial. I'll be really surprised if klopp signs him but like ed01 says, if he does I'll support him (and cringe twice a year)

100 shots, 26 on target, 3 goals. Ed01, why would anyone sign a player with those stats for Liverpool. This is liverpool right?

{Ed001's Note - because they are clueless. That can be the only possible reason. They usually justify it by saying he is cheap. I am sure Dirk Kuyt would be cheap as well, may as well just bring him back if that's the thinking.}

I can see what side of the fence your on ed lol

Theres no argument from me to anything your saying.

Theres a lot about his attitude that would need to change. that's clear for all to see.

{Ed001's Note - it is not just his attitude though and his workrate, there are the regular thigh and calf injuries because he has the wrong type of fitness. He carries too much bulk and does not do enough stamina work. There is his ridiculous tendency to just get the ball and shoot, his shooting is abysmal. He misses so many that the ones that go in are as much down to fluke as skill. He has all the football intelligence of a boiled cabbage, after it has been chopped up, eaten and come out the other end.}

Yeah exactly ed01, shaquri's name shouldn't be mentioned in a sentence with dirk kuyt! Unless it's "shaquri cleaned kuyt's boots"

{Ed001's Note - with his tongue...}

He's only that cheap because of a clause.

How on earth is comparing him to oclade not applicable? He was woeful for arsenal. The last words Henry said is I still don't know what he's good at. 1 season under klopp and he's winning the best goal of the season in the champions league for liverpool.

Were getting a reputation for signing under hyped players. Shaqiri is not wanted like Robertson wasn't, oclade wasnt, mane wasn't, Salah wasn't in fact it was how does he get into the team.

Shaqiri does have a lot of issues I just think for 12 mil it's a gamble worth taking to see whether he would thrive with us and klopp!

Why would say West Ham pay 25mil again, surly logic would dictate that if they won't want him now for the suggested 12 mil the surely wouldn't want his later when his worse for 25 mil. Could be wrong than again.
