Full on knee jerk 20 minute World Cup cameo.

Loftus-Cheek anyone? 😄.

The only other time I've watched him was against Germany and he was excellent that day. Not sure where he'd fit in our squad but I think he'll end up at a competitive club, Chelsea should give him a chance.

Reminded me of Emre Can when he first signed. Terrible at keeping the ball under control on the run, and ran down blind alleys with his head down. He has a great first touch and when he gets his head up his passing is very good. I'm not sure he is an upgrade on Wijnaldum, Lallana, Milner, Keita or Chamberlain on the side of the midfield three.

Give us a bit more height against hoofball merchants - like ManU 🤣.

Really, Loftus-Cheek in the same sentence as Wijnaldum, Lallana, Milner, Keita and Chamberlain would only be okay if was underlining how bad he is, compared to the others menitoned.

RLC is streets ahead of Wiji and Milner.

Only player I've not really seen before and have been impressed by in this tournament so far was one of the south Korean CB's, Kim Young-gwon. I thought his positional play was exceptional all game against Sweden when his partner kept going off for a little walk, put his body on the line for the team and generally played an excellent game. Looking forward to watching him in the next game now.

Putney, those two players were part of the team that knocked Roma and Man City out of the Champions League. They are good players. If RLC is streets ahead he must be at least top class? Which begs the question, why Can't he get into a torrid Chelsea midfield ahead of only decebt players like Fabregas, Bakayoko, Barkley or Drinkwater 🤔

I usually agree with you mate, and I appreciate RLC has a lot of potential, but he wouldn't even make our bench if everyone was fit, in my opinion. Milner creates way more goals, yltakes better set pieces and presses better. Gini is miles better at protecting the ball, scores more, creates more and is by far superior tactically.

There is a tendency every transfer window to crave change for changes sake. RLC is flavour of the month but in truth he only made the England squad because Chamberlain was injured and Milner has retired from international football.

Really surprised he has impressed you that mich hjikle. He does exactly what Lallana does to a lesser standard - dithers on the ball, throws in a few fancy turns for the camera, and then realises the pass is gone and tries to draw a foul. He did one (sort of) good thing last night and that was his pull back for Rashford. The pull back was too awkward for anybody to get a clean strike away though, and he'd have been better off standing up a cross to the back post than fizzing a cut back into a crowd of 6 or 7 players.

I personally think he is over rated just because he looks the part. Good looking, tall, muscley bloke who looks good on highlight reels? Very fashionable in modern football's celebrity culture. Fact Is, he's not good enough for the highest level (could be one day to be fair) which is why he'll probably go on loan and fight relegation again next season. Never judge players on international performances even if you do think he has been good. That is how we ended up with Diouf, Swansea with Sanches, and Real Madrid with Rodriguez. He needs to improve a lot before he's ready.

Think you skimmed my posts MK, mine was about the only impressive unkown I've seen being a South Korean CB! Loftus-Cheek looks like Chelsea's answer to Jack Wilshere to me - capable of class moments but not capable of promising them with anything like the regularity to win a place in a top team. Sort of player that's worth investing in if he came through your academy to see if he settles down and starts doing it most games, not worth spending money on if you don't already own him.

He has talent and I think he will be a great player one day but I agree with MK, he is not champions league finalist stuff.

MK, yesterday we were being linked with dacoure and Richarlison of Watford. I remember you saying months ago that you would take dacoure (spelling) . Would you still like us to sign him or does signing fabinho cancel that out. What are your thoughts on Richarlison?

If the eds have any thoughts on those two I would be grateful. Sorry to bug you mk, eds.

Apologies hjikle. I misread read the first line. I thought you meant Loftus Cheek and the Korean centre back had impressed you. I did read your whole post, I just misinterpreted the very first line.

Prince Hendo, I like Doucoure a lot and think he has the quality to play further forward behind the strikers so Fabinho wouldn't have to be an alternative. He'd be great for us but I don't think he is the type of player Klopp wants. If we want a powerful runner in attacking midfield then Ox or Gini can play that role. I think Klopp wants someone with a bit more craft and guile, who poses a threat from set pieces to give him more options.

Richarlison is another in the same bracket as RLC, for me. He is not a bad player for his age, but they won't improve on what we have so if we want kids to make up numbers, why not give our own lads a chsnce first? If Wilson doesn't impress in pre-season maybe Richalison would be okay. I am at a point where I just don't see why we keep selling our own youngsters and replacing them with players of a similar standard from other clubs. In Fact, I'd rather give Trent a chance in midfield because he has far more about him than RLC.

Great, informative answer mk, thanks buddy.

I think if solanke played as many minutes as Richarlison he would have out scored him. I'm really excited about Wilson too. On Richarlison defence, he does seem older than he is, doesn't seem to get bullied. I thought lingard was too easily bullied last night btw
That said I think Troy deeney's has bullied Richarlison at Watford, didn't like him getting the limelight. I remember him saying "in training our players try to kill me"

Mk, the fact they played in the final is a bit ingenuous, they're decent players and have worked hard for us but neither are top class. If RLC was here he'd be above them in the pecking order (but behind the other players you mentioned) .

As for Chelsea it would be a waste of talent if he wasn't in their team next year, he's better than a lot of the players they have there.

What is ingenuous about that, Putney? Based on what I have seen from RLC, he would not even make the bench at LFC and would definitely not be above Milly, Lallana, Ox and Wiji and them having played and impressed in the CL does prove something. It proves they can hack it at the highest level of club footie vs teams and players who are supposedly better than them, something RLC cannot do right now as he needs to develop more cos he is still too raw and has to fine-tune his decision making especially. Chelsea need him more than we do cos he would help them and their midfield cos the only good midfielder I would take out of that lot is Kante. He would get games there for sure. At LFC? NOPE!
