I'm from Northern Ireland but like to see England so well in tournaments but
Cannot believe how negative the commentary and Keown in particular was about Hendo. I thought he was

Never know. Ridiculous. Thought England were good and hope they line up a second round game against Senegal or Columbia.

Hendo got slat d for not playing the ball forward enough

However- most of the time after the 1st 10 mind but before 80minsvthete was little movement for him to play into.

Time and time again since Italia’ 90 we’ve heard pundits saying how crucial it is to keep the ball at International Tournaments.

Hendo keeps the ball = criticism
Hendo plays ball forward and gives ball away = criticism.

There’s a reason why there are so many forward thinking foreign players in the EPL - and it’s not just money.

Their movement, ability to take the ball on the half turn, awareness of space around them and above all their patience - is something sadly lacking in the English game.

Much rather “get it forward quickly and early” and run about like idiots for 90mins.

That’ll be the way to win the World Cup won’t it.

Hendo has Firmino, Mane and Salah all making intelligent runs off the ball- and it makes a huge difference.

I personally think Alli should of been subbed as soon as he felt the knock, once that happened we lost our momentum and it became a slog. Nice to see them find a way to win though.

Great to see them win and hope they progress, but how have we gone from the era of scholes, Lampard, Gerrard, Ferdinand, Terry, Cashly, Beckham, Owen, God to this, they're not legends in their mams and dads house's.

Is it the influx of foreigners in the Prem?

Young team I guess idllk. I think the guys after this crop will be the most exciting, we might even win something.

It's so like England though. "no pressure this time, we aren't expecting them to win it" we won our first game and now it's "we can win this"

I am excited when it's world cup but my buzz for today's game was ziltch compared to the ucl final. Hope the lads do well, I don't see us going further than 1/ 4 finals.
