With the French league being heavily scouted (assumed with both Fekir and Fabinho), I am surprised there has been no mention of Alban Lafont to solve the gk position. Young and highly rated. His stock will rise over the next few years.

Good young keeper with buckets of experience, he has been in the first team since he was a teenager.

I asked about him a couple of weeks ago and Ed002 gave this reply:

"Ed002's Note - Yes it looks like he is moving but it is nothing to do with Liverpool. }"

Upon probing, the team in question is Crystal Palace, although the deal isn't done yet.

I asked about him mainly because I often get him when playing CM16 and he turns into a great keeper!

I’m surprised we’re not looking at him. It would be negligent not to, particularly if we aren’t prepared to pay for the likes of Oblak or Becker. As he’s miles ahead of the likes of Pope and Butland and light years ahead of the likes of Trapp, Cillessen and Navas. I have this sickening feeling that we’ll waste a bucket load of money on someone like Navas or Cillessen and end up with the same problems next year and be stuck with a 30 something keeper who is incapable of playing in the premier league.

Can’t disagree with you there Frankly, although I tend to ignore the rumours and see what we actually end up doing as Klopp in the transfer market with us hasn’t had many misses.

I actually can see the merit in Butland, as he is young enough, and imposing enough to be mouldedto got our system, albeit anecdotally I don’t have much faith in our GK coach. A couple of years ago he was a clear No 1 prospect for England and I liked the look of him. If he comes to us and can rediscover that form, I think he could do very good things.
