If we are unable to land Alisson or Oblak which might be, then we should keep Karius and Ward. Need not to waste money on Butland. Between Burnley had good season and their defense looked top notch for a club which is expected to finish bottom half. How is Pope then Ed001? Is he good enough?

{Ed001's Note - no, he is a very good shot stopper but does not have any other qualities required. His distribution is dreadful.}

This is what MOTM and YouTube videos does. Thanks Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - welcome mate. I do have a player profile on him here if you want to read more.}

That's a good read Ed001. I know 26 isn't a big deal for a GK. But can he be coached to be a sweeper? Just curious. Can a player be coached now?

{Ed001's Note - he can't kick, so it would mean him making huge improvements that are unlikely at that age.}

Just as a follow up Ed, would you think the technical attributes are easier to coach as compared to physical/ mental? Not just gk but players in general.

{Ed001's Note - no, physical are the easiest, you can work on that at almost any age and make improvements to a degree. Technique you really need to learn early to make major improvements.}

Thing for me is that signing Pope would be repeating mistakes we’ve made in the past, ie signing a very average player off the back of one half decent season. Charlie Adams, El-Hadj Diouff, Stewart Downing, Jermaine Pennant to name a few.

Agree with Ed001. I also said the same thing about Migs a couple of seasons ago. Teaching a GK new tricks is easier said than done, especially if you have already been playing at the highest level for some time. We are seeing the best of Pope right now. If his kicking's bad now, its unlikely to be anything more than adequate even after world class training. Look at Migs, was bad with distribution and is worse off now in spite of KLopp giving him so many chances and time.
