I would go a get Butland and give him a chance with karius.

Just reading between the lines with Allison etc and I hope we don't go after navas.

I think Butland could be a good catch!

Nope. Wasting money. Can’t get Alisson, go for Oblak. Can’t get Oblak, get the third GK in their level. Not possible. Keep the money until it is.

Rather keep Ward and Karius than Butland. Butland is bang average and will cost a lot.

Ya know, I think butland is a good shout. He would be an improvement. Simple. He's got to go to someone.

This is a priority posotion for us so getting Butland makes Zero sense! Crazy to think our targets are Alisson or Butland. Both at very differant levels and ability. Surely there is better than Butland available out there!

had to laugh, Butland would be a good catch .

Oblak. Almost 30 years we've had keepers short of quality (bar two seasons of Pepe before he went average)
Let's just go and buy a top class keeper for once.

Hope Butland signing doesn’t slip through our hands.

Leno, Areola, Donnaruma, Leno, Horn plenty of names but we could be here all day, if Klopp picks Butland he is better placed than anyone here to choose so he would have my support.

YNWA.

Might as well stick with Karius if Butland is the guy cos on the whole and regardless of what happened in the final (only one game, btw) . Butland is not a patch on Karius. If you can't get the GK who will solve the issue long term, might as well stick with who you have. Getting another young GK (who may be inferior to Karius as Butland is) is just putting a bandaid on. So sorry, if any bandaid needs to be put on the GK issue, it should be Karius.

the point though rover is if Klopp and his staff have looked and want Butland btw nothing to say they do. what makes anyone on here more qualified to say he isn't up to it?

Sorry brover, you talk a lot of sense mate but butland is better than Karius. He has more potential and is less arrogant, will fit in with the liverpool vibe better. I don't think Karius is the most loved player in that dressing room, even before the ucl final. And just look at that game, we can't feel confident with Karius in the sticks. He only has a decent record because he has the world's most expensive defender in front of him. And liverpool defence was pretty good last season. Karius made a handful of saves all season and on t one that was amazing and that was the quick reaction in the final? Semi final?

Butland IS better than Karius and behind our team with Fabhino as well I think we will be pretty solid.

Gareth Bale took that long distance shot because he knows he is not a strong keeper. Don't you remember in football matches your coach saying "shoot from distance, their keeper is poor"? He wouldn't have tried that rubbish with de gea or courtois or loris. And it went in. He's poor, average at best, everyone knows it.

We want to win the title? We won't win it with an average keeper, we don't win it with Karius.

I would describe butland as a good keeper.

People go on about the bang on the head, what about the roma game where he stormed out and tripped their player dzeko I think. Should have been a pen. He was lucky but he is a liability.

Before you have a go about me not having the YNWA spirit, (and I'm addressing this to all posters, nothing personal brover lad, good bloke) look back at your posts about charlie Adams and benteke and traore and Markovic.

Bobby, it is not about being qualified to say if Butland is better than Karius or whoever. We are all giving our opinions here and you are free to give yours as I am free to give mine. That is the essence of debate. By your logic, we might as well end this forum cos NONE of us are qualified to say who is good enough for LFC.

Prince Hendo, I don't know where you got this idea that I was referring to Karius' concussion (not a bang on the head as clearly, you have never been concussed) cos I never mentioned that. As for the Benteke, Adam and the other stuff, Those guys were lazy and their attitude stunk at that time and STILL stinks hence, they have gotten worse since they left LFC. If you are lazy, selfish and could not be arsed, you will always walk alone, IMO and you just made my point for me.

IMO, Butland has never been good enough for a big club. The guy is older than Karius and was at Stoke for a reason. No one would touch him at big club cos he is overrated, error-prone and injury prone. Karius got the job full time and kept 10 clean sheets in 19 PL games, had the most clean sheets in the CL, FACT (and pls, let's not do the "it was down to VVD" nonsense as cos every GK benefits from a good defence), and with him in goal, the defenders knew what he would do and when he would do it cos they trusted that he would come out and sweep behind them whenever they messed up. Also, Karius is tailor-made for our system, one which Butland cannot play in.

Now is Karius perfect? No. Did he make mistakes? Yes. Did he improve us over Migs? Heck, YEAH and the nos. bear that out. See, multiple things can be correct at the same time. For me, he had earned the job for next season as there is still some improvement to be made until Kiev happened so it is up to Klopp to decide on his future. As for his error vs Roma, that can happen as he is inexperienced and STILL helped get us to a CL final in his first season. Lloris and Courtois made more mistakes than Karius in the PL this season BUT who cares, right? All in all, you have an opinion and I respect that cos in the end, that is what it's all about.

Debate is fine yes but again if Klopp and co decide he is good enough for LFC then they have my support and acceptance as he hasn’t steered us wrong much up to now with signings.

All healthy chat btw not having a pop.

Brover, I wasn't directing the bang on the head thing at HOU dude. I tried to make that clear, and the YNWA thing wasn't aimed at HOU spe ifically. But it has been used against people who talk about karius's weaknesses. When on fact this site is for people to talk about players and the strengths weaknesses. We do slag some liverpool players. Or ex liverpool players, Markovic got it coz he was poor and Karius was getting it coz he was poor.

I agree, Karius was a big improvement on migs and actually I have been a bit of a Karius supporter this season and last. (mainly coz I just wanted migs out) but after that final I can't trust him. Yes he kept a lot of clean sheets but he didn't make that many saves did he? No he didn't. So my theorise about being behind a decent defence does hold some water.

And dude, I have been concussed a lot of times. I played football for years, I was a left winger, forward. I was small for my age then and used to get clobbered alot. I would say someone gets concussed in nearly every premier league game. Mild concussion. If someone head butt's you hard in the head you are likely to get concussed. It is serious coz it's the head and we have to take head injuries serious. But it was only mild concussion. 4 doctors said it wasn't rven that. You can still play. I mean look at rugby, or boxing even. Mohs mad Ali took dome massive hits from joe frazier but he still had the skill and awareness to win.

I know its no comparison, boxers hit slightly harder than ramos but my point is, you cxn continue with mold concussion and if he really was wobbly then he should have been honest and said so and we might have won the european cup.

Butland wouldn't be my first choice but I'd take him over Karius. That's just my opinion. I'm sorry if I came across a bit personal. Truly. I wasn't aiming anything at you personally brover. You're a great poster and I respect your opinion but I don't have to agree with it.

Brover, lots of fans had doubts about Karius before the final, that just cemented a lot of opinions.
