On this site for 10+ years - first time poster.

It staggers me to see the rubbish that gets written on this site nowadays.

So many people think they can do the job of CEO of multimillion £ companies (and that is what our great club is) . There is a reason the market works the way it does. Only the best get to do it and normally for a short time. CEO's of British companies last 4.8 years on average (global is 5 years btw) . Even the best cannot last in the role. What makes fans of football think they have the answers?

Words like 'joke', 'laughing stock', 'feel sorry for player A', 'shambles', 'circus'. seriously?

Given how big the fan base of this wonderful club is, I would think that the fans probably represent a good cross section of society. That means that only 1% have been anywhere near a deal and negotiation in excess of £1m never mind figures up to £140m. The factors to consider are so diverse and complex - please acknowledge that and show some respect.

These owners are building a sustainable business for the long term. It takes time. It is multifaceted and the leaders are investing all over the place to see a return. And they make mistakes! Please resist the temptation to throw naive and stupid opinions out there that help no one other than to stir the emotional outbursts that bring the quality of this site down.

I would love to see us sign great players. but don't forget we have great players that got us to the Champions League final. It's now about using limited resources (and yes they are, despite the idiotic maths some of the posters here keep quoting), wisely.

If we cannot reach agreement with Lyon for example - it will be for good reason. The guys who own this business and the ones they have trusted to run it, are not sitting there dreaming up a scheme to piss fans off and to lose money.

I post this with the genuine desire to see people be more thoughtful and respectful. Like football games you can win or lose in business all the time. Sometimes its even a draw! We don't suddenly not support Liverpool or believe in the intentions of the players cos we lose to Man U - well maybe a little moan ;-) .

Well said Birdsfly. The last million+ deal I did took beer part of a year and had more twists and turns than a bloody labrynth.

Full respect to the team at LFC as they know what they are doing and we need to trust in them. Much like the Ed’s, they know what they are talking about so maybe we should ignore the twatter hype boys and just be patient and grateful for the info we get.

Brilliant post, OP. The nonsense that people post on here or on SM makes you wonder if you are dealing with actual people who are well aware of the stark realities of not just football, but of life in general. They make these small-minded, unrealistic comments about the owners and runners of the club, cos that is what they would do should they be in charge of the club. "Just pay the money" or "Why are we lowballing Lyon" or "Just get Fekir and to hell with the rest", is small-minded nonsense you read, as if it was that easy. They say these things cos that is what they would do and when things go south, they will blame someone else for it. SHEESH!
