I'm hearing on here that Butland could well be happening and I see a few negative post's (shock, horror) on here about him maybe joining us well I learnt the hard way not to judge a player too soon. When word that Ox was joining us I went on a bit of a rant about him joining us and boy did he prove me wrong, thankfully. So I said from here on in that I will never ever judge a player BEFORE he signs for us and I think a lot of people on here should do the same.

Very true that Barry mate. If we do sign the lad then we should welcome him with open arms and make him feel welcome not destroy him before he plays a minute for us. After moaning about Robbo joining last year, I just sit back and believe now. If the club wants him then bring him in! He'll get my support 100%.

The problem here is he is not at the level we need. If Butland is the Keeper we bring then again next season out of the top 6 we have the worst keeper. The time is now to buy the best keeper we can get and stop this mincing about with 2nd rate keepers. It is a serious weakness and has been for a long time.

Thing is that goalkeeper is a position we have skimped on for years and years and it has cost us dearly, so we are repeating that mistake again if we waste the thick end of £40m on him, given that the difference in quality between him and Karius is marginal if any. (If you ask me they’re no different in their level of quality) So this is throwing good money to bad. If the club aren’t going to bring in absolute top quality for the position then there is no point wasting money in Butland and we should stick with who we already have.

Well if that’s the case then why did we buy Fabinho or are linked with Fekir? We could look at all substandard players from championship and league one and expect them to be another AOC? Sorry Barry but I don’t get this argument. We all want the best for the club and the best players to join us! Now do you remember Wijnaldum? Why did he not become a Kieta?
Butland is a gamble while Allison is a sure bet! That’s why I want an established keeper!
I don’t know if Klopp would improve him or not, but he is a human and there are players he simply couldn’t improve and one being his own signing Karius why we are linked with a new keeper.

Before/ when AOC joined us he was slated on here by me and many more and when he got injured the same people including me where saying how much of valuable squad member he turned out to be and how much he'll be missed. that's the point I'm trying to make, give players a chance.

That goes both ways Barry. We are in a great situation to mount a serious challenge at the top! We have secured one and if we get 3 more ( very good players ) then that’s set for the next 5-10 years! I doubt Butland would come in for less than £40 mill either.

Harry you have gone off the dep end. How about we sit back and let the club handle it. They will get the players that they (the professionals) feel will improve us and that we can afford. The Eds have said there is little to no shot of Allison or Oblak so how about we see what happens before we get out the pitch forks. It is clear we are looking to invest and it is not like Karius was a steaming pile of garbage all season.

Dunno why people keep saying alisson is a sure thing. I've seen him play a lot and he's no buffon.

His distribution is good (it's why I suspect we want him) but he gets beat at near post all the time and is indecisive in 1 on 1 scenarios leading to goals. This doesn't happen as often in Italy due to pace of league and the fact so many teams play high lines.

We'll quickly see those weaknesses in prem. He's def a good keeper but people saying he's world class haven't seen him play enough.
