Hi Guys,
After a week of recovery I am nearly over the defeat to Madrid. I believe Karius has lost the trust of both the fans and the players, as when he was crying after the game no player in red went to console him. The defeat seems hard to take because of the way it happened, but we are a work in progress and should take the positives from the season. If we were to sign Allison, fekir and another cb ( or give Gomez a chance there, as he's a natural centre back) I believe we could become even better next season.
Any news on any of the players above or a new cb Eds?

It may be a controversial POV, but I think if we can keep them both fit that VVD and Lovern would be fine to carry on. They seem to work well together, so if signing a new CB meant we couldn't improve elsewhere I would carry on as is and see if Gomez is capable of bedding in there.

I am of the belief that we need to push to boat out to get a top keeper. However, if we are only going to be signing mediocrity (Eg. Cillessen or Butland IMO) I would rather back Karius to continue until we can get a top level keeper.

Mrsox, as you can see we can observe a trend of increasing cost of not rectifying issues with team.

1st season, Klopp fail to strengthen in Jan window when we should have due to injuries, we lost Europa cup + League cup

2nd season, Klopp persist with 2 mediocre GK and we lost UCL

Next season, if we fail to find a gd stand in for front 3 and a good GK, we will lose the league title by slight margin.

Lovren probably isn't the long term solution, but Klopp may deem it unnecessary to replace him immediately, particularly given his solid performances tail end of the season.

This window I'd like to see us make a deal for a young, very good up and coming centre back. E. g sign De Light now, loan him back to Ajax for the season and next July he joins as the long term replacement for Lovren. Would be a win-win for everyone.

But it seems like Spurs are more likely to complete a deal as we probably aren't even interested.

Got to remember, RBL, we don't have the bottomless pockets of City or Utd. We need to focus the money at our disposal on improving our matchday squad, and ideally first 11, for next season.

Whilst I would be de-lighted with De Ligt, spending c£50m on a player who won't play for us next season, instead of, say, a new No 1 is not a great move.

Fekir and Alisson and I am happy. Another extra forward (over and above Fekir) would be a bonus.

I would agree that looking at CBs in Jan or next summer would then rise towards the top of our list. But right now, given limited resources, I would de-prioritise unless an absolute steal presented itself.

Tibo to athletico. Allison to Chelsea. Oblak to Liverpool?

Every time I see the acronym 'POV' it makes me feel like I'm on a site my girlfriend wouldn't approve of.

1st season = inspired signing of mane saw a decidedly average liverpool make it to the final of europe's second tournament. Unlucky to the lose the final. Top 4 finish. Utd and arsenal miss out.

2nd year = another inspired signing in salah and a massive one in Vvd saw an unfancied liverpool make the ucl final, gave Madrid a decent game but lacked a 2/ 3 top players, in midfield mainly. Top 4 finish (should have been 2nd but ucl run took it out of us) Chelsea and arsenal miss out.

3rd year = win the league or have a good crack at it. Top players signing for the club. Very exciting for us fans.

With your own words do you damn yourself liverpool County, we made two major finals, 3 finals in 2 years.

{Ed002's Note - You seem to have forgotten a season.}

What’s your point Ed002? George Best forgot more seasons than he played in, he was still superb!

😬.
