Seeing as the Fabinho signing came as a bit of a shock, do the Ed's know if he was a Klopp '1st choice' signing?

Also, if Fekir is considered the 1st choice Couts replacement, do we know who may be on the list of alternatives if it doesn't work out?

pompeyred, per an article I read yesterday on the Mirror (I know! ), Klopp was apparently interested in Fabinho last summer and was prepared to wait for 12m to get his man.

Ed001 replied to my question on the thread (see my last postings, I think its on page 4/ 5 of banter now) saying that Klopp is quite fixated on the players he wants unless convinced otherwise by the scouting team (as he was with Salah, who appears to be the exception to the rule of Klopp getting his way)

Fair play Ed. Macca, is there any info you can share? Either way, everyone seems pleased with Fabinho and I like the fact Klopp and the recruitment team can still surprise us. Sure I’d be happy with Fekir, but seeing how Salah worked out I’d love to know who is on the reserve list - maybe another shock?

Cheers Zed. I love the idea that Klopp is sure what the team needs but is still open to suggestions from the management team. Sign of a good leader in my opinion.

I think the CL title was a little too soon for us on reflection but the journey was fab and I don’t regret a thing.

People have said on here about Klopp promised this and that but I never took any real notice. I’m very happy we finally have a Manager and owners that are committed to improving and I’m enjoying the ride. We have a World Cup to look forward to and then the challenge of another crack at the elusive PL title. Life is good. If you think differently you should try watching Pompey every week!

Wasn't a bit soon for me. We are the better first 11. We were winning that game till HE took out salah. Even then we were in the game. We all know what happened to lose the final. but we are ready. Strength on the bench is needed.

Magico, not sure we would have won after Salah came off cos tho we put up a good, spirited perf., RM were slowly turning the screws and we prolly would have conceded eventually. Frankly, no one really knows. Also, we were 2-1 down and had Karius not made the second mistake and we don't mount a fight back, we lose.
