Can anyone give me (us) an idea of what we're getting in Fabinho? When it comes to the French league I'm absolutely clueless. I'd love Harry's opinion cos he's a legend and he'll say the absolute extreme of what we'll get, and mk's cos he's an equal legend but we'll probabably get a more rational answer. And if anybody wants to wake up tris, to get his opinion, that would be okay too.

Ha ha ha ha. Fabinho is a very good midfielder who will protect our Defense much better than any other player. He will most probably play the sitting role ( currently occupied by Hendo ) .

Solid in the tackle, breaks up play well, reads the game well, presses high up on the half way line, great in the air, very powerful striker of the ball, takes a good penalty, very powerful runner, very ambitious passer.

He's world class already in my opinion. After we lost 4-1 to Spurs I wrote an article on our midfield needing more steel and Fabinho was the player I finished it off with saying he was my pipe dream to resolve our problems. He is everything we need in midfield and more. I don't believe there is a better defensive minded midfielder in Europe.

Kante. But I do agree this is a fab-ulous transfer for us and at the price could be a potential bargain. Time will tell but a 6 footer in the midfield is fine by me. We could actually become a real set piece threat when a few seasons ago that was our Achilles heel.

I remember that MK. Good shout mate. I hope he is as good as you say.

I think he is a more complete player than Kante but to be fair Kante is on par as a defensive minded midfielder, Frankly. Fabinho is less efficient in the tackle for sure, and has less energy, but Kante is anonymous in aerial duels and wouldn't consistently hit the target from 6 yards out.

I am still trying to believe that we've really signed Fabinho. We never sign the players I really want 😲 my other dream signing is Oblak so fingers crossed 😂.

{Ed025's Note - for me kante over fabino every day of the week MKS, thats not to say that fab is no good because he is very good, its just that im a massive kante fan mate..

MK, I'm not sure Fab is world class yet cos he is not a very good tackler even tho he makes a lot of them and is a bit susceptible to getting caught up field and on the press and can be a bit slow to react in this respect. He is a very good player due to the multiple positions he can play in BUT still has flaws to his game that of course, can be improved upon. As for the comparison with Kante, Ed25 has it nailed on. If I had to pick btw Fab and Kante, it would be Kante. Imagine a CM of Naby and Kante as a double pivot in the high press. Now, that would be LIT.

Not sure how you can call someone World Class when they didn’t make the National squad for the World Cup? Not knocking the player as I don’t know much about him other than what most of us have seen on YouTube, but surly if he was World Class then he would be on the plane. Think you yourself Adam did a long post about how the term was used far to often.
Anyways, don’t mean to be be negative as I am over the moon about this signing as it is the sort of player we need. ever if he plays at RB tbh! Hope he turns out half as good as you say MK. I like most of your posts and are usually very knowledgable, so if you have watched him and speak this highly of him then that re enforces my happiness 😁.

As the Eds have explained on numerous occasions, Gold Stars, getting into the Brazil side is not a meritocratic process by any means.

{Ed001's Note - that is one of the reasons why he had been looking to leave Monaco.}
