So just my take on the aftermath of tonight result because that’s really what’s important now. I believe the feeling around the club will be somewhat similar to the feeling after we came second in the 13/ 14 season. Costly error/ s cost us a major major honour, our best player having a similar type of season and potentially leaving at the end (which I don’t think will be the case this time around) and the World Cup fast approaching. We went out with a whimper just like we did then. My concern is how detrimental it is on certain people within the club. Those people being Klopp and his management team especially since Buvac has left, along with players like henderson and Karius.

Klopp has now lost his 6th final in a row, I think mentally he’ll start to doubt himself tactically if this happens any longer and that’ll cause him to leave before he’d ever get sacked in order to achieve personal goals at clubs that can bring him such success like Bayern or Madrid. He’ll think he’s been completely found out and can no longer build teams up to the highest level, so like many other top managers he’ll have to go to clubs that already get success regularly. When Klopp arrived I made the statement that I didn’t think we would get the very top honours with him and so far I think everyone can see why. I think his style is too erratic and not pragmatic enough to win a 38 game a season league, unless you have world class players across the spine of the pitch to make up for certain weaknesses in management. Klopps style is great for knockout competition which is why we’ve almost won 3 of them but he falls at the very last hurdle. Moving to the premier league was a rude awakening that I think Klopp as a manager needed, he understands more now that football is more pragmatic than a ‘rock and roll style’. Today’s result had very little to do with Klopp, injuries are a big concern as we constantly get a whole host of injuries within every season but I don’t think that would have made much difference today, this was not klopps fault.

The detrimental affect it’ll have on the players is major self doubt, and to be honest, waking up and smelling the coffee. Some players are not good enough to take us to the very next level, we have to work within our means but we can work within our means and sign players like Keita and Van Dijk for £60m+. That excuse doesn’t hold the same weight for me anymore. I also made the statement that I wasn’t convinced by Karius even though he had been pretty good for us since coming in. It just shows how low our expectations had dropped for this position suffering years of depression with migs in goal, only to find out Karius is just as bad. If Mignolet has made the same errors he would cease to exist. Both are not good enough and please spare me the whole ‘it was only one game’ it’s been far more than one game with Karius, don’t kid yourselves. To go to the very next level we need better in certain areas, namely gk, cb and cm. I fear how the players will bounce back, some will not have it in them anymore and one of them might be our captain. I like him as a player but I think he’ll be done mentally after this, that’s the same with a few others within the squad.

The last thing I’ll say is, as with Rogers after his second season the expectations have risen subconsciously, football is very dangerous nowadays, there’s more at stake and more impatience. Rogers couldn’t go back to mediocrity after coming second in the PL and it costed him his job and rightly so. Now the expectations will have risen, whilst another 4th place finish will suffice next season in keeping klopps job, I fear we might think we’ve hit a ceiling if we don’t achieve certain goals next season I. e actually winning something. If we end up outside the Cl spots and not winning anything next season, is that over for Klopp? Probably not for the owners and most fans but for me it would be. You only have to have some knowledge of football to understand where things are going wrong and how far someone can take you. Next season will be the making of Klopp at Liverpool.

Incredibly proud of lfc to have got to the final, our fans once again proved to be the best in the world. I thought the build up to the game mentally broke us down as it was similar type of pressure to how we build ourselves up for a United game for example. It felt exactly the same, we seemed to pretend to puff our chests out and I think we should have been more tentative, at least then there wouldn’t have been as much pressure and such a hard fall if we would have lost. Now we have to face the world for a few months till next season.

{Ed0333's Note - You sir.

So in summary the end is nigh for both us and Klopp? Any other gems you'd like to share with us?

You put a lot of work into that but You've lost your head after one result.

Was last season a improvement on the one before. Yes.

Was this an improvement on last season. Yes.

It's a process. Rome wasn't built in day.

Klopp is a fantastic manager and will lead us to great things. There s no magic switch that some people seem to think there is.

Also this klopp final thing is crap. Once we get the squad together we will win one.

Can't be having this

Our best player isn't leaving, went out with a whimper? I have absolutely no doubt it will not have a detrimental impact on Klopp or Henderson. As a human being and on a personal I hope Karius doesn't suffer too much.

The whole of your second paragraph is so riddled with nonsense i will just address one. "When Klopp arrived I made the statement that I didn’t think we would get the very top honours with him and so far I think everyone can see why" - everyone cannot see why - we just nearly won the European cup with a squad riddled with injuries.

Don't worry about the players, worry about yourself - there is a team there on the up, full of potential, full of belief instilled by their manager. I don't think any outfield player in my eyes had a bad game given the circumstances after Salah went off and against the calibre of opponent.

I thought the game might have been overwhelming for some of our players but did you not see how we started? "mentally broke us down"? Not in my eyes.

Of course we have the best fans in the world but You sir are not one of them.

I’m struggling to see exactly what you are proud of when you are writing the most negative post possible just hours after a defeat that hinged on two things, our best player getting injured and our goalkeeper having a horror show. If this is you showing pride I’d hate to see you running down the team.

Under Klopp we’ve gone from not being in the champions league, to getting to the final. That’s big progress. We have made Anfield a fortress.

I appreciate your response Davey, I think what I was trying to do was look at the bigger picture which a lot of people don’t like to do. It’s not just one game, I’m looking at klopps whole tenure here and putting it into perspective after arguably the biggest game of his career. I didn’t say that as a result of this, these things will happen, I said if things do not change and we don’t win trophies this will be the mentality of some people within the club. Much like poch at spurs, he’s threatening to leave after being close to winning silverware because maybe he doesn’t feel like he can personally do it at Spurs, with the resources he has there. I think if fortunes do not change for Klopp, he might start thinking the same way. Not in a bitter way but more in accepting defeat. Klopp has taken us forward ten folds since coming in but there’s always a limit, and I reiterate that I think his limit is just short of the major honours (PL and CL) . I haven’t once said it’s the end of Klopp, I definitely want to give him a chance to succeed with us as obvious improvements have been made.

Lemuel your response suggest to me you have difficulty understanding the premise of what I was saying in my original post, so sorry about that I can’t help you there bud.

Tony87, we did go out on a whimper, that was a very ordinary match, Madrid never had a problem winning that match. Yes we were severely handicapped but ask yourself why is it we have so many injuries every season? There’s nothing we could have done about the Salah injury, and our best player going off gave them total belief and total control. Our keeper costed us two goals, that sounds to me like going out with a whimper. That was competitive in the first half and they completely dominated the second. Maybe check the definition of ‘whimper’. Apparently real fans can’t criticise the club they support now, fans like you are the complete opposite side of the spectrum. I’m proud of the club, I never even really mentioned the game in my post but you wanted to highlight that for some reason, maybe you take your frustration out another way, or maybe you just want to see people say ‘I’m proud we got to another final but lost again’. I want to win, I want this club to win, getting second best and saying I’m proud doesn’t always satisfy some fans. We are going forward though that’s about the only thing we’ll see eye to eye on. And yes in my second paragraph I said I don’t see Klopp winning the major honours which is a post I shared on this site before his appointment, and sadly I haven’t been proven wrong. Hopefully next season I will be.

After the initial dissapiontment we will take positives that we got so far, we didn't fluke it either, we battered everyone up to the final. We can do it again, I think Hendo is the type of pro who takes positives out of bad results and the team will have experience next time we get deep in the ucl. I think if salah h had stayed on and Karius hadn't m a de the mistakes that we we old have won it.

Next year we will be regarded as one of europes elite again and that confidence will push to a trophy I think.

We will attract good players this summer and if you ask most pundits who will challenge city next year they will say Liverpool.

Of we got this far with this team then with keita, fekir and dembele we have a massive chance.

We don't have an old team, this is not the end of an era, it is merely the beginning of one.

I don't get the whole Klopp can't do finals thing at all. Before Salah went off Madrid were struggling big time so the tactics weren't wrong and the players were up for it which is surely the managers job. Then the 1st and 3rd goals can't be blamed on Klopp, unless you maybe say he should've bought a better keeper - one thing I would say to that is that Karius is a good enough keeper to stop those goals, he just had a shocker (not saying that he's good enough long term cos i don't know about that but he's definitely good enough to stop those two goals) . The 2nd goal is just a worldie and I think everyone should just stand and applaud it. The game definitely wasn't a mismatch and Klopp is the right guy to take us forward 100%, so people need to stop saying things without properly thinking.

Also on a different note, Karius had a bit of a shocker but everyone needs to get behind him so that this doesn't affect him long term. He might not be the right goalkeeper for the club but he's still a good lad and doesn't deserve abuse cos he made some mistakes. This night could kill the guys career if people start abusing him and nobody should have to go through that. Maybe he isn't good enough for the highest level, I don't know, but he still deserves everyones respect, kindness and sympathy.

Are you not aware that you contradict yourself almost on a sentence by sentence basis? Ask yourself why do we get so many injuries? There was nothing we could have done about the Salah injury.

It is a waste of time going through the rest of your nonsense, obviously you aren't a Klopp fan - who would you prefer?
