Afternoon Reds,

Seems like we're in for a beating on Sat night according to most of the experts.

I'm OK with that. Not much has been expected of us throughout this CL campaign and it's served us well so far. We seem to like being the underdog.

With regard to Vincente Del Bosque saying this week not a single LFC player would make the RM 1st 11 - that may or may not be true - but I'm surprised at the simplicity of the statement coming from such a well experienced football man. Agreed, our midfield 3 looks a little unfashionable compared to Modric, Kroos and Casemeiro BUT our 3 are there to do a specific and simple job. If they can close down the RM midfield quickly, not give them a moments peace and then release the ball early we have a good fighting chance of a result. A lot rests on that midfield contest for me.

And credit now to Klopp. As Del Bosque will know, a good coach maximises and plays to the strengths of the squad at his disposal. Additionally, every player needs to be sure of their role and exactly what is expected of them. Add to that an inbred willingness by the manager for every player to give everything for his team-mates you have a proper TEAM. That's what Klopp has achieved this year - and if we play as well as we all know we can then Real and all the 'experts' could be in for a shock.

So good luck to the boys on Saturday but most of all I hope they give a good, honest account of themselves.

does anyone remember what the "experts" were saying in 2005?

Nobody is giving us a chance mate, not just the pundits!

Apparently our team is awful apart from Salah. All I can say to that, is Klopp must be the best manager in football history if that is the case!

I can’t agree with you more there. Del Bosque also said we were psychologically weak, which again I found to be nothing but a throw away comment and disappointing coming from somebody who has achieved so much in the game. Both comments seem to be indicative of somebody, looking a little nervously over there shoulders of what is coming down the road.

I read a few extracts from Jerzy Dudeks book yesterday about Ronaldo.

He went onto say that Ronaldo‘s mind set is that he sees himself as the only superstar on the planet, and that the other 10 players on the pitch in Real Madrid shirts are only employed there to assist him achieve greatness, like his little minions (the minion analogy is mine, not Dudeks)

Real Madrid are Ronaldo plus 10 others where as you say we are a TEAM fighting for one another

As great a player as he is, he can also be a weakness with his selfishness and individual obsession. I’ve seen him stamp his feet and cross his arms when a team mate does not pass to him.

Personally I think Del Bosque will be crying into his Paella and Rioja come 10pm Saturday night (uk time)

Also, I’d like to say good luck to all the supporters who are getting over to Kiev for the final. great effort, stay safe and sing Ol big ears back to where it belongs

walk on

Allez allez allez.

As disliked as he may be by most Liverpool fans, say what you like about Ronaldo, he is one hell of a player and more. Hopefully he has an off day as he normally pops up on the left and will therefore be mainly Trent and Lovren's problem.

Hopefully Trent can have as good a game or better as he did against City.
