Good morning Ed mate!

I think Aulas has just put the Fekir rumour to bed, knew it wouldn't happen, I know it's still early but I can't see it happening and never did. If we do sign the lad, it'll surprise me, fingers crossed of course.

I stumbled across the Trivia site last night Ed1 I'm guessing your behind that? don't know how new or old it is but I love trivia would be great to see more. Here's one for you all. How many Scotsmen have managed Liverpool?

Have a great day Eds/ reds.

{Ed001's Note - I didn't even know that was still there. I love trivia. Sad I know, but I do love it.}

Salah I get what your saying now mate, I didn't associate the name with lyon at first. Tbh doesn't mean much him saying that does it.

He said something like there has been no contact, we don't want to sell and he wants to stay and play champions league with Lyon.

Kloppsreds17, we've been hearing for weeks how the Fekir deal is 'done' and how it's inevitable him signing from these so called people 'in the know', none of the eds ever said it was done or ever said it was even close, it's people been gullible mate as per usual in transfer windows, too many people see newspaper talk as truth. The eds so far have said it is a possibility and that's as far as it's gone.

Macca predicted it, he didn't say it was done or close either. Aulas has come out and said Liverpool have not even made contact about the player not to mention stating Fekir is happy to stay with them, on top of saying 'You will have to be very, very rich to sign Nabil Fekir this year'.

I do think we'll make an approach for him but I think they'll out price him. Personally I think we should stop thinking about such a signing because it's not going to happen. Just my opinion of course, I hope I'm wrong because I rate him highly.

Next summer? maybe. But as I said yesterday, this is far too similar to Lemar last summer, remember how he was a done deal? it's just the same old media BS imo. If the Eds tell me a deal is close then I'll start believing it but I can't sit here and believe all these news outlets and people saying they know because they know somebody involved, it just doesn't cut it for me.

Me too Ed1, I could talk about trivia all day long mate.

Not that it matters, because everything is a rumour until a player signs, but the Fekir-done rumours came from Canal+ in France. They had Sakho on a TV show talking about how Fekir would fit in at Liverpool even while Liverpool were playing the match against Chelsea a few weeks ago. Almost all Fekir rumours came from the French media and got repeated on LFC social media. No one I've seen has said it's 100% complete. The French media who reported it said 99% complete.

Personally, I'm relaxed about transfers because neither Salah nor Mane were first choice and they turned out alright. So Fekir or no Fekir I think we'll get the right player/ s.

Mornin', Ed. Couple of things. Firstly, Salah et al; Aulas is a nightmare to negotiate with. All he is doing there is trying to strengthen is hand when it comes to striking a deal. There is no definitive talk of it not happening, with us or anyone else.

Secondly, why did they decide to give Martinez a new contract so soon before the World Cup? I can only assume it is to warn other employers off but what happens if they bomb again with this squad of worldies and they want to get rid? That's quite a payoff.

Thirdly, I am all for doping bans, probably lifetime ones for definitive cheating. However, I heard he drank tea from a flask that may have once contained coca leaf tea and trace amounts of something were found in his system. Not only that but his mother then blamed his ban extension on Claudio Pizarro, saying he fixed it as a way he could get into the squad. What do you make of all this, Ed? The ban seems extremely harsh to me, seeing as there should be no performance enhancement and that coca is legal in Peru.

{Ed001's Note - I don't know enough of the circumstances, but it is irrelevant what is legal and illegal, that is nothing to do with what is against doping rules. Most over the counter cold remedies are perfectly legal but include ingredients banned by WADA.}

Yea fair enough, Ed. I suppose they don't have the capabilities to distinguish the sources and just rely on testimonies for that sort of information. I just find it weird that he was banned by FIFA, then as his ban was coming to an end WADA waded in and got him an extra 8 months, though they wanted longer. England would be up in arms if Harry Kane or someone got the same treatment. It's like going to jail for robbery, then a second judge coming in and giving you longer because he'd had his car nicked recently. I hope FIFpro are successful, on his behalf, anyway. The story goes that there were two identical flasks, one had had coca tea in it at some point and the other (his) hadn't. He accidentally drank normal tea from the one that did have and so produced the dodgy sample. FIFA were convinced he was telling the truth so gave him a nominal ban because it was still a banned substance and he had been careless. Seems a dumb thing to have to miss your final chance at a World Cup for, especially as you had originally believed you would be eligible.

{Ed001's Note - actually he appealed which got the ban reduced, then WADA appealed and the ban was increased. It is standard in these kind of cases for appeals from both sides to happen.}

Ah, I see. I was just repeating what I had heard. That makes far more sense though, thankfully. Still seems harsh to me, however. Cheers for clearing it up for me anyway, Ed.

{Ed001's Note - his story sounds ridiculous though. Difficult to believe.}

Did you see that the French, Aussie and Danish Captains have written to FIFA asking for leniency with the Peruvian capt. As the captains of the group opposition in the WC, i like that spirit. And as an Aussie, we have some credibility to be restored in Sportsman like behaviour.
