Hello Ed's Banter please

Going along the lines of Macca

1. GK - Butland
A big no from me. He is no upgrade on Karius and probably would demand first team football which will take Karius back to the bench role and eventually move out in 2020

2. CB - Trawkowski
Surprise inclusion. Probably spell the end of Gomez at CB and TAA to play the RB for the whole next season.

3. DLP - Ceballos
A big no again from me. Watched him,
Know him, asked about him and he is not even close to be a playmaker let alone a sitting midfileder. He is a Lallana and Lallana doesn't play the deeper role.

4. ACM - Fekir
Absolutely love him! World class. Would walk into any team in Europe. Technically first class. He is a cross breed of Coutinho and AOC. He is a fine fine player

5. CM - Kieta
He is world class and that's all you need to say! He could do anything.

6. Winger - Dembele
Good player, but I would have looked at Bailey or Malcom for the flanks.

Ceballos is better than Jorginho 🎣.

Don't MK, he'll have a panic attack mate lol.

Good summary Harry to be fair. I would agree with most if not all of what youve said, apart from Ceballos. I think he will be a good addition. I just can't see how everyone will fit in so some must be leaving. Ed001 do YOU beleive we have a realistic chance on Fekir and Dembele?

{Ed001's Note - not on both no, I can't see us doing that in one window.}

I thought Trawkowski was more of a reflection on Matip and Klavan's future rather then Gomez. Though his injury may be a factor.

Dembele is more versatile then both Bailey and Malcom and can cover both flanks. (though admittedly both players, especially Bailey are coming off better seasons) . Dembele as a transfer target has caught me a bit off guard, but if it happens, great. He's got a fantastic future and really showed his talent at Dortmund.

I'm surprised Macca didn't mention a RB, but his suggestions aren't the be-all and end-all. The Ed's have thrown out some RB suggestions and have made it known the club are looking at a large list of possibilities.

Didn't Harry say signing AOC was pointless as well? I think cebalos could be a very good player given opportunities.

Cheers Ed, my thoughts exactly. Totally differant players also so it can't be either or. Confused.

Henderson with one leg is 10 times better than Ceballos at the holding role and I am not even a fan of Hendo the DLP. To play the deeper role you need excellent ability to read the game and you are the creator and protector. Ceballos strength’s lies elsewhere.

AOC doesn't control the midfiled hence Klopp wants to bring a DLP in this window. AOC was and is a B2B player who was inconsistent at Arsenal.

Regards to Dembele I can’t comment on his form from Dortmund. But he’s been very hit and miss at Barcelona mainly miss, whether that has much to do with his injury and struggling to settle into a new team, but some of his performances have been truly woeful. But he’s young and I’m sure Klopp would turn him into a world beater.

Dembele’s stentgth lies in pure pace and why he was a big at BVB. They play counter attacking football compared to Barcelona who loves to pass a thousand times before making an attempt on goal!
He will be a good addition coz of our style of play. But I would stay away from him the way he acted at BVB to secure a move to Barca. Refused to train and went on for a strike to force a move.
Klopp kinda likes him and he eventually gets his man. 😁😁😁. I was hopping Klopp to check Bailey from leverkusen. What a player he is! The Usaain bolt of football!

{Ed002's Note - Van Dijk did exactly the same after being tapped up - and that doesn't seem to bother any of the fans.}

I did not mean to tap up Ed02. My point was to check the progress of the player over the season.

I’ve no issue with the way Dembele conducted himself because we’ve gained from a player doing the same. I have an issue with him being very hit and miss and his recovery from an injury that is likely to reoccur. As for Ceballos, to say he’s a better midfielder than Jorginho is pushing it. Jorginho has been playing at the top level and is being looked at by a lot of top sides whereas Ceballos hasn’t been able to get games at Madrid, I still think Neves would be a smarter purchase than either. Tarkowski though, it’s a straight no from me. Not good enough and a United fan.

12.) 18 May 2018
18 May 2018 18:50:34
So the biggest issue with Dembele is that was hit and miss in a season where he suffered a serious hamstring injury and has only just turned 21?

13.) 18 May 2018
18 May 2018 20:13:28
He has been having serious recurring problems with his hamstring, Dembele suffered a reoccurrence almost immediately as he cane bacm. Remember Michael Owen? Or Danny Sturridge more recently? Could barely play two games in a row at one point once he started getting the injuries. Given the price they’re asking, it’s too much risk for a lad who appears to be made out of crisps. It’s only worth considering as a potential loan to buy with a fixed price. We don’t need another sick note.

14.) 18 May 2018
18 May 2018 20:19:27
Alderweireld
Neves
Fekir.

15.) 18 May 2018
18 May 2018 20:24:34
Actually Ed002 no one will complain if they gain. They will only when they are in receiving end ;)

16.) 18 May 2018
18 May 2018 21:00:39
Well Dembele did play 49 games in the season before at Dortmund, so it's hardly recurring, and he's hardly made of crisps. Maybe he injured himself early at Barcelona, was out for a long time, rushed himself to get back and re-injured himself. I would hardly write him off as injury prone at this stage.

17.) 18 May 2018
18 May 2018 21:11:02
Klavan and matip are both a lot better than the Burnley lad. I see zero point in signing him, it won't happen.

18.) 19 May 2018
19 May 2018 00:20:36
Dembele seems to be hugely reliant on pace.
After serious hamstring injuries he will never be the same player, just ask Michael Owen 👍.

19.) 19 May 2018
19 May 2018 00:41:15
Is this the same Michael Owen that tore his hamstring in 1999 and won the Balon d’Or two years later?

I seem to remember a lot of people including myself tbf questioning the signing of robertson and look how that turned out.

Not saying all klopps signings will turn to gold like robbo and salah and mane and vvd and well you get the picture. But i am willing to give his targets the benefit of the doubt until i see what his plans for them are.

Cellabos is a very good player and i see people making a lot of assumptions about where and how he will play. Had it occured to some that keita will be the dlp. maybe not but i will not assume either way.

Dembele, top notch, not a pulisic but close in terms of potential. Fekir is dreamland stuff and the one i see as the most unlikely. Trakowski, never seen him play so no judgments. Butland is a good keeper with the greater potential than karius to be very good just needs time to regain the form of a couple of seasons ago. People forget keepers bloom late and he has time on his hands. Good signing for me, two young keepers helping to raise each others game.

For me depth has been our downfall in terms of the prem, these players add that and if they come off will actually make us real contenders for a change. The key for me would be keeping salah and adding fekir, with keita coming in too my mouth and loins are positively moist.

21.) 19 May 2018
19 May 2018 01:59:13
I think butland and cellabos will definitely happen. I think we could do with another player who can play both on the front line or in midfield. And then we are pretty good. Another high class cb would be luxury but lovren is okay with me. If we saw a summer of

Butland
Cellabos
Keita
Dembele/ fekir/ suarez

Would be amazing. I had this de ja Vue thing about deli Ali in a liverpool shirt? I think once spurs lose poch and rose it's going to implode there. I think we are definitely in the running if Ali wants to leave spurs.

{Ed001's Note - not on both no, I can't see us doing that in one window. }

Ed001 if we get Dembele on loan with an option to buy do you see posible to get Fekir as well?

{Ed001's Note - it is possible anyway, just difficult.}
