What happened to the team page? I enjoyed reading about Harrys flavour of the month player, I really did.

Anyway if you could pick 3 players to play for LFC next season, who would it be? (that would be players within our reach)

Winger: Daniel Caliguiri
RB: Ricardo Pereira
Coutinho replacement: Nabil Fekir.

Fekir
Ceballos (based on what ed has said about him and our interest)
Benjamin Heinrichs (Bayer Leverkusen RB)

I think we need a LB more urgently than a RB. TAA's only proven position at the moment is RB, and we have Gomez and Clyne as decent back up. At LB we don't have any decent back up to Robbo. TAA may become an excellent midfielder but he will have Keita, Ox, Hendo and others to complete with.

We need someone to challenge Lovren for the first team. Surely Gomez cannot be relied upon until he's been tested at CB for numerous games.

We need a Can replacement as back up for Hendo.

And someone to challenge Ox for the third midfield position but also with versatility to be able to play up front.

I think all four of above are more critical than RB and GK.

I don’t want to buy backups.

I’d rather buy players to improve the current 1st 11, and use the players they replace as ‘backups’.

And/ or use our academy players to backup (or backup the backups! ) otherwise how will we know if they are ready to step up - like TAA (who was himself a backup last season.

Still trying to work out why we need a coutinho replacement, aren't we a better team without him? or is that term a new on pitch position like right back or goalkeeper?

Cb and couts replacement for me. karius can get another season unless replaced by top quality like an oblak.

I would try and tempt dembele who is not signing a new contract at spurs too. If not him i would go for seri who would be an excellent partner for keita.

Cb i would go for someone tough like koubilay and couts replacement ideally fekir or malcolm.

But likely we will get none of the above.

Johnny, ita not about replacing couts like for like. Its about replacing the versaility he bought to the side. We need someone who can cpme into the attack if we need to rest one of them and still be as effective. And someone who can play behind in midfield and create against the more defensive teams. So yes its not about him just about the roles he filled.

Apparently every team needs a Coutinho replacement, Jonny.

I think it’s in the Premier League Charter, or something like that!

I understand the questioning of buying backup players.
If we were to buy a winger, surely they would know their chances would be limited. Would a Pulisic or a Dembele (barca) want to join us to sit on the bench? Caliguiri is at the end of his career, he fits with our playing style, and he would be joining a title challenging team. I still believe Wilson would benefit from another prml loan.

Our current midfield, Henderson, Milner, Lallana, Wijnaldum, Chamberlain and Can are all players that possess similar traits (bar Chamberlain) . The coutinho replacement were to add something else, more creativity/ directness. At the moment our midfield looks lost when playing a stubborn defence, and perhaps a Fekir could help us in this department.

That's my point, RedFuzz. I don't want us to buy ANY player who is happy to sit on the bench.

Pulisic isn't coming to sit on bench at any team, he will join someone (hopefully us) to be in the First 11. If that means he displaces someone else in the First 11 (even if we regard that player as 'untouchable') then great! We've just improved our First 11, even in an area (potentially) where we didn't think we could.

Those players who only join (or stay? ) if they are guaranteed a certain number of games are players, no matter how good they are, who I (and I believe Klopp) don't want in the squad. Give me someone like Ox anyday as he is prepared to fight for a place and has the confidence and ability to get it!

Interesting listening to some debate on, I think, the Monday Night Club on 5-live earlier this week (Monday, I think it was, lol) saying that one of Pep's greatest achievements is keeping so many players happy at Citeh. Even the subs and those outside the 18 were happy to be part of the team and the journey. That's what I think, and hope, Klopp is building here. Combine great team spirit with energy, great ability and add a pinch of 'Klopp' and we can look forward to many successes to come :)
