See some reports and though I don't believe them for a second. I'd be interested to hear people thoughts on the Ayew brothers at Swansea, and whether they could do a job for us. Neither are brilliant, but Jordan is very pacy and could offer cover for Mane, Salah and even up top. Andre also can cover all foward positions and even in the middle foward positions, is strong on the ball and a bit more creative. Both work very hard, would likely be happy to be part of the squad/ rotation system, seem better than cover we have, and Andre especially is a big LFC fan.

Maybe i'll get shot down, but I think it would be a shrewd bit of business to get both for say 10-20mil?

{Ed001's Note - I do not think they are good enough for a top half team in the Premier League, let alone one that wants to challenge for titles. They tick one box, of hard work, but everything else leaves a lot to be desired.}

Fair enough ed, I’m just searching for options as im a little concerned about our depth and cover options even with the names being mentioned to come in, especially in terms of cover for the front 3.

{Ed001's Note - I am more worried about the lack of midfield options personally.}

People need to stop with this Ayew brothers, Craig Dawson and Alfie Masson crap. They are light years from the ability we need to push us over the line of title contenders.

I like Andre, is a very hardworking player with mane like techniques (though slightly at lower level) and is also a liverpool fan. I believe he could do well on our bench for the front three most especially in bobby's absence. You will hardly get a top class player willing to sit on the bench and see out games or waiting for an injury to get a game.
But that being said i hope harry wilson works his ass off in preseason to be the front three substitute. There is something special in that kid. He looks like these kids who find themselves right even when they intend do wrong (such people are God given and you just don't let go of them) .

I personally think Sturridge will still be here, next season. Who will pay the asking price and match his wage demands?

Why would Sturridge take a wage cut? The way his career is going, he will be retired in a few years, so if I were him, I'd maximise my earnings whilst I still could, even if that meant being a sub for the last year of my contract at Liverpool.

He is a really good guy to have around the training ground (read what Curtis Jones said about him recently) so i doubt we'd bully him out, and I just can't see us finding a willing buyer. If he left I would think it'll be a last minute loan deal when someone starts to panic. I think It's more likely he'll go out on loan again in January though.

I'm not in the know at all, this is all just my opinion. After this West Brom experiment, who here can honestly say that they would gamble £20-25m and £100k a week on Sturridge? Imagine getting lumbered with that wage for 3-5 years and then getting relegated? The lower clubs should learn from Leeds, Portsmouth and Sunderlandand who soent beyond their means in wages and look like they'll never recover. No secure Premier league side (City, United, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs, Everton or Leicester) will want him because they all have the spending power to do better nowadays.

I just hope that if I am right, Sturridge performs a minor miracle and sorts his injuries out. It is easy to forget that this is a guy who can score 25 goals a seasons. In 13/ 14 he was undeniably in the top 10 strikers in world football. It saddens me that I am now relieved he has just a year left on his contract, because I feel like we have missed out on something that could've been truly special.

Sturridge should look to move to France or Holland. A league where the league isn't too physical.
That's my opinion anyway.
Draxler is the player I would sign. You just can't predict his behavior/ attitude. But he'll be a good option for either a midfield role or an attacking role.

MK, sorry to burst your bubble BUT Studge won't be here and in fact, his being here is why Origi left (which I did not like cos we could have used him this season) . His injuries have destroyed him and any sports scientist will tell you that you don't sort out your injuries the older you get. It actually gets worse cos it takes much longer to recover and for a relentlessly injury-prone player like Studge, it takes way longer. I personally, want him gone so we can move on with our lives and get someone in here who can do a job and accept his role w/ o worrying about him pulling a hamstring getting out of bed.

As for Ayew or any of them, They are not good enough even as back ups, IMO. Might as well give Ojo and Wilson the game time instead of wasting wages and squad space on two average duds.

I know Sevilla were interested last summer realtofel, but I'm just thinking about it from the perspective that if it was my club, or even my money, I would not be interested at all. He's not had a good season for 4 years now. How long can you live off of the reputation of 1 and half great seasons at Liverpool?

I hope he does get a good move abroad because I agree that it would suit him better. I just can't see who will gamble on him now. His injury saga has gotten to the point it is now ridiculous. 2 goals this season. 3 goals the season before. 8 goals two seasons ago. And 4 goals three seasons ago. You have to go back 4 seasons for the last time he hit double figures in the league, with 21 league goals in that title challenge.

31 league goals in his first 18 months, followed by 17 league goals in his next 48 months. That is a decline of epic proportions. Why would anyone want a striker who averages about 4 goals a season? On his wages, that is about £1.5m per goal!

Hope you are right buddy and there is some interest, but I am struggling to see where it comes from after another bad year; the worst yet.

I agree with MK. I can't see any team coming in for him, why would they? what does he offer? I think he'll see out his contract with us too.

I love Sturridge but injuries have buggered him unfortunately. By all means if a team is stupid enough to come in for him we should snap their hands off but right now it's hard to imagine a team doing so.

Brover, what you say about injuries kind of supports my point though, doesn't it?

He has a year left on his contract so we are stuck with him unless someone else is prepared to take a huge gamble (which I can't see happening for all the reasons you explained) or unless Sturridge is prepared to take a wage cut and Liverpool reduce the asking price (again, not likely to happen! )

I'm not saying he should stay or that I want him too. I'm just pointing out the fact that it is unlikely anybody will gamble on him again. Your post doesn't exactly sell him to other clubs, nor does it counter my point that nobody will want him.

The only scenario I can see him leaving in the summer is if he goes out on loan and Liverpool pay a significant chunk of his wages. I know Pardew agreed to pay a loan fee and his salary, but the way it turned out at West Brom will just be another black mark on Sturridges CV. He's cost the Baggies a fortune and given them nothing in return, other than keeping their medical staff busy.

Can anybody here come up with any reasons why someone might be prepared to invest in him? 🤔.

MK, I'm not disputing your opinion that it would be difficult for teams to sign him. Truthfully speaking, as a club owner, I would probably not sign him on a free transfer.
I'm looking at it from Sturridge's PoV. If he "humbles" himself and realises that the French/ Dutch league will suit him cos of the tempo/ lack of physicality, he might get a good move. But he would probably want one of the top leagues and I don't know if that will help him.

11.) 10 May 2018
10 May 2018 14:23:16
Maybe a newly promoted team might take a punt on him? Wages are the hurdle though and I see no reason why he would leave and take a pay cut.

12.) 10 May 2018
10 May 2018 14:51:54
We'll probably be able to sell him for spare parts to any club with a rusty old striker lying around that needs fixing up. Surely there must be some bit of him that hasn't been injured? Thumbs maybe?

13.) 10 May 2018
10 May 2018 16:30:23
I can't think of any reasons why anyone would invest in him at the price MK - I do expect both ourselves and Sturridge to significantly lower the demands though which will likely pique a few teams curiosity.

At least The Ayews could have a good song.

From Who Are You? by The Who

Oooooooooooh Ayew ooh ooh Ayew

The simple ones are always the best.
