It's obvious we have made a lot of improvements this season but we could as well undermine them ourselves. It is natural for fans to vent after a poor display by their team. It doesn't make them any less of a fan. I am quite disappointed at the level of display we have put up in the last three premier league matches. I wouldn't want our qualification for the UCL next season to rest on winning the final, that will be too much pressure on the boys and I know we don't do well under pressure judging by recent results.

Secondly, while it is obvious that we need squad depth, I think our players will have to raise their game, because if they want to challenge for trophies both in Europe and domestically they have to be prepared to play a lot of games over the season. I mean is that not how other clubs do it?

My present worry is our right side. TAA looks to be making a lot of mistakes recently and I feel it could cost us against Madrid. And coupled with the fact that we do not have any creativity in the midfield, we just pass the ball sideways and backwards and leave the creative burden to our front three.

But nevertheless I have nothing but hope in my heart that this season will be one to remember for all the right reasons.

{Ed0333's Note - Excellent post mate thoroughly enjoyable read and you make some salient points.

The lads have put everything into getting to the champions league final. I’m not bothered that we’ve sacrificed a few league games to get to the final, that’s why we’re in the competition.
If we can’t beat Brighton, who are already safe, at Anfield then we don’t deserve top 4. That being said, Chelsea have to beat Rafa’s Newcastle which won’t be easy.

Great post and thread altogether. Ron and the OP are absolutely correct. We had injuries come in the most unexpected of times and all in one position bar Matip, which is in midfield. How do you plan for that? You can't.

Our boys and Klopp have dug in deeply to get us into the position we are in namely: an improbable CL final and control of our destiny going into the final game of the season. Had that been promised us after the Spurs debacle last Oct., we would all have taken it at the time. Well, here it is.

We have gone through this season and the CL w/ o fear n with a level of bravery that very few teams, players and managers can even begin/ imagine to emulate and despite the ups and downs, WE ARE STILL HERE, STILL STANDING. Time to finish what we started, lads. On to Brighton and the crowd should treat it as a CL semi final. BRING THE NOISE!

I would say I’m most disappointed in the manager and Klopp over the handling of Mo Salah’s game time. The last few games he has looked exhausted and his explosive pace has not been there, to sacrifice his fitness in a attempt to win the golden boot is both unprofessional and irresponsible by them both.
Klopp should be protecting our prize asset and Mo has changed his approach and attitude to team play, he is shooting from ridiculous positions with the team seemingly trying to put him in all the time rather than prioritising the result first and foremost.
Salah is usually a selfless player who is happy to assist his team mates but that has gone out of the window in the last 3 matches.
I would suggest he has had more than enough gilt edged chances this season to have over 50 goals by now so he shouldn’t be risking his fitness and the teams top 4 position by going for the golden boot at all costs.
If it was any other player Klopp would not risk the UCL final for the sake of an individual honour.
Should the worst case scenario arise what would have been an incredible season would result in disaster, we must win one of these two games to qualify for next years UCL, I hope we win both 🤞🏻.

TAA will be ok, he seem to do well when under contstant pressure (like he will be at Madrid) it’s when he has the time to let his mind wonder that he makes an error.

As far I am concern, I already write our beloved team off next year UCL. We are not winning the Final with this midfield and we are not going to be top4. Creativity Zero. Only the front 3 creates but they can only create when they given space to break. Once you shackled the front 3, it's a game over as none of the midfielder can come in to disrupt the opponents.

{Ed0333's Note - and the doom and gloom merchants are all out tonite.

Lfc lover? We have suffered with injuries to the midfield these last few months Can Ox and a fit lallana would have made a difference playing 2 games a week. We will see a big difference next season with Keita arriving, as the 6 midfielders we have at the moment don't score enough goals. I can see why we are linked with the likes of Fekir. calling out for a Souness Case Molby Alonso Gerrard player who can strike from outside the box.

LFC Lover (not sure how you can claim such a name with the negative dross I just read), As Ed333 once said, "You must be a real joy at funerals".
