You can almost write down Hughes' interview before he says it, it's that predictable. Maybe if Bertrand had hoofed it out in the stands and not passed it to an Everton player, the result would have been different too. He's the sort of bloke who lasts 2 minutes with his wife and blames the milkman for her not being satisfied.

{Ed001's Note - to be fair he does have a point, the decisions were abysmal as always from Moss. The guy has the fitness regime of Jimmy 5-Bellies and should be nowhere near a professional sport unless it is darts.}

Yes, to be fair, in this case I have to agree, but when you throw enough defactum at a wall, some of it is bound to stick. The standard of refereeing is at its lowest ebb in a time when fitness, technology, training should be at its best, it's just that Hughes is the only victim of it in his own eyes.

{Ed001's Note - I don't disagree that the problem is not the refereeing, as all teams suffer with them, but just saying he does have a point with his comments.}

What was the excuse for throwing away a 2 -0 lead to lose 3-2 against Chelsea?
Hughes is blaming all around him for his own teams results he needs to man up and admit he has failed southampton who have a much better team then 4th from bottom
Liverpool had their own version of Hughes in Rodgers.

Yep fair enough, Ed. It's weird that that they can be so self governing and clubs, fans etc have to put up with it. I thought they had fitness standards they had to maintain and would have to answer to the FA for such dismal performances this season. Are there any plans afoot to improve things with strategy rather than hope?

{Ed001's Note - they do have to pass a fitness test at the start of each season, and they train regularly, but they need coaching just as much as players do. Sadly that is unlikely to happen.}

Cheers Ed. I was at the A-League final and saw my Jets lose to that shocking offside decision. It was from a set piece delivery so I don't know how the assistant missed it in the first place. Hard to swallow but football can be cruel.

{Ed001's Note - it is bizarre that they just happened to lose the feed at that moment.}

Such a shame that damn near everything improves but not the standard of officiating. They know it as well because they can't even be confident they be able to use VAR correctly. They just seem terrified that admitting mistakes makes them seem weaker, but without mistakes, you have nothing to improve on. Whether they like to admit it or not, accountability is what will improve things. Thank you for your replies, Ed.

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

Yes Ed. 30 seconds before the goal the feed dropped out and came back 2 minutes after - just enough time for the game to restart and the decision couldn't be reversed. It's what conspiracy theories are made of.
