Evening Ed's. Maybe not strictly LFC related but do you see any big transfers between premiership clubs this summer? There seems to be less rumours floating around. The last few summers there's been players like Walker, VVD, Lukaku, Vardy (to arsenal never happened) . I'm presuming Rose to Man U is still possible. So is there anyone Liverpool could be looking at. Or for example if Chelsea, Spurs or even us were to miss out on CL football next season could any expect any high profile departures. I would love us to snatch William from Chelsea and Alderwielder from Spurs.
On another note we'll done to Brighton. Unfortunately I think Huddersfield won't be able to follow them in staying up.

{Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest in PL players from PL clubs so something may well happen.}

I posted the other night my dream 4 summer ins would be

Naby keita
Toby Alderweireld
Leon bailey
Wilfred zaha (cash plus ings) maybe not a popular choice but he would suit the way we play way more than ings ever will. And i like ings but its just how i see it personally.

Both bailey and zaha would allow some much needed rotation up top and allow us to challenge on all fronts. Alderweireld and van dijk together would be a brick wall at the back.

The kid bailey looks like he's going to be something special if he makes the right move. And the way he plays suits our attack. In a few years he could be a ready made replacement for salah if he gets tempted to leave. I would pay the 70 million and put any spare change all on black a few turns to get the money for the other two scripmed up.

Zaha although still rough around the edges i think would run riot in our side if klopp got in his ear. He may be a little wasteful but so is mane on many occasions and he still thrives in our attack.

We need two signings up top that when rotate don't comprimise our attacking threat and the trait of unpredictability that we have going foward. One or two bad injuries up and our potency severly diminishes. Our front three are injuries waiting to happen at the moment. Even 1 quality signing that could cover either flank would greatly improve things.
Football is very much a squad game in todays world and after the season we have had it would be a shame if we don't add some serious quality to our squad to bulid on the momentum.
Lots of factors come into play in signings. Im aware of that but we are seriously thin up top in terms of title winning quality more than anywhere else.

Snatch Willian from Chelsea? Where would he play? he doesn’t play every game for Chelsea so would have no chance getting in our front 3. He seems to have won the media over but not the Chelsea fans or managers which says a lot. I think he’s a decent player and stood out the season when Mourinho got sacked and they did awful but I’m not sold that he’s this top player the media think he is, he doesn’t score enough or get enough assists either which for his position isn’t great.

In response to Willian, he’s been one of Chelsea better performers this season but doesn’t look happy if they miss out on CL football and with a new manager most likely coming in they may have a few players available. I look at Willian as a player that won’t cost excess of £50 mill which is becoming an average price tag at the moment. He could cover either flank for Salah or Mane or either side of midfield. We clearly need more strength in depth we’ve had a great season but the midfield needs more quality Can looks on his way out, Milner has been superb but for how much longer and to be honest only since Xmas has he been performing. Lallana can’t stay fit. And we can’t expect mane, salah, firmino to play 60plus games a season. Unfortunately it’s not quite happened for Ings, I know he’s young but I’m been very underwhelmed by Solankes brief appearances and who knows if Origi will return.

Willian would be a massive upgrade on ings and solanke i terms of cover up top.

The way some fans talk Mane and Salah only score and are successful this season because of Firmino, so does it matter who we bring in as a reserve forward. We could bring in fat Nige from the dog and duck and he would hit double figures next season because of him.

Alderweireld seems likely to be off but United are interested and the brutal truth is they can offer him a bigger salary than us - it would be a good signing but seems very unlikely to me. Leon Bailey has had an excellent season and is highly regarded - I doubt he will move to us to be a rotation option. Zaha is over rated in my opinion and I think we should be aiming for a higher calibre of player.

Seano

With the amount of games we will have next year i don't just see new signings as cover so to speak. Front 3 can't play them all and injuries are bound to happen. Bailey would be my top target because he could play just as many games as the other 3 and not comprimise our threat going foward. In that regard i don't think in his mind he would see it as coming to be cover if it was sold right to him. But he might have absolutely no interest in us whatsoever but like i stated he would be a dream signing for me.
What attacking player wouldn't want to come play for liverpool at the moment though.
I think zaha could vastly improve in our side. We are set up to suit all his strengths and he would have far more chances in our side. If we could get him for a somewhat cheap price compared to other attacking players i think its a no brainer cause in my opinion i think he would improve our squad in terms of what we have currently.
They way im thinking if we spend on a cb and an attacking player like bailey. Zaha might be one of few options left for the money we would have in the kitty. Plus we could possibly get him cheaper if palace were to be interested in the likes of migs or ings. Like i said before they way im thinking although zaha is not world class quality, after salah mane and bobby he would be better than what we currently have and i think his unpredictable style (even if its because he may not know what he's doing himself at times) would suit the way we play.

Highly unlikely, Jayden. Fat Nige is off to Everton.

Fair points Wolverine. I agree that Bailey is an exceptional talent - I just don't envisage him signing or ourselves making the move, it would cost a lot (in both wages and transfer fee + the usual add on's) and there would then be tension within the squad. Who plays, Bailey or Mane? Salah or Bailey? etc etc - I just think, for the likely price, we will not make a move in a position that is fairly low priority.

I think Zaha's cost, in comparison to his role, wouldd probably rule him out. Palace will ask for a bumper fee off of anyone sniffing around and I just don't think we'll spend the money it would take.

I would like us to sign a CB too but of course this is contingent on the right one being found, for the right place, etc etc. I really do not see us signing any wide attacking players, there are simply too many other areas of greater importance to focus on:

Ed's have already hinted at it but I would say at least another midfielder on top of Keita (Ceballos the one in favour - personally I'd prefer 2 more midfield additions on top of Keita but seems unlikely) .
A right back - god knows who though my football knowledge is awful, I remember one of the Ed's saying we have a look at Leipzig's right back but don't know who that is.
And likely a back up keeper (Navas the favored choice) .
If we offload Ings and Origi and Sturridge in summer perhaps another forward as a squad.
I don't think a wide attacking player is something the club will be particularly focused on this summer.

You could most certainly be correct seano.
And there was me looking to sign two wide players!
Im of the opinion that after cb signing which is probably of most importance i would like to see at least 1 wide/ central player up top to come in. Preferably wide for me. As salah or mane could play central when bobby needs a rest. Bailey just has my eye bigtime. I read this morning city were after him. And they have jesus aguero sterling bernado silva and sane up top. Even with just 1 of our front 3 missing up front we don't look the same threat. I really think we need at least 1 quality signing in that department.
If we win the champions league it would be a real statement of intent to sign 3 quality signings on top of keita if if its the right player on a free.
Surely there must be at least a 150 million kitty this year plus cash from any sales.

We probably do need to free up some space in the wage budget.

Competition for places is like a new player in itself. It can only have positive outcomes in my opinion.

I haven't seen anything at all of ceballos. If or when can leaves we do start to look pretty thin in midfield also.

I think taa and gomes have rb sorted between them. Taa could even possibly cover in midfield nect year too. Back up left back is more important than right back at the present time. Id rather see any big spend going to a starting cb rather than a starting rb.

We are heading into a very important summer in terms of recruitment. There are some pretty good prospects in our ranks. But it may well be a season or two too early for some of them.
Harry wilson could be an interesting player to watch in pre season. Havent seen 1 second of anything he's done at hull but the reports seem to be good. By all accounts he seems hungry to make something happen for himself in his career so if he does come into the squad next year we may have a very determined player ready to prove a point.
Woodburn i would like to see given some 20 to 30 minute spells at the end of some games in the midfield 3. Could save us a fortune in the long run. Looks tidy from what i've seen of his games. Bit of a teachers pet look about him too. Being around henderson and milner can only be good for the kid.
On an end note it was awesome to see bobby put his name on the guest list for all future gigs in the foreseeable future. At least that's one load off the mind.
