Chuffed we made final. I have one concern for the final (injuries aside) . Marcelo v Trent. Marcelo can be a liability defensively which I hope our front three will utilise but attacking he can be a game changer (see his control and pin point cross for Madrid's goal against Bayern in semi) .

I hope Trent learns from the experience last night as he has a bright bright future - just hoping he can turn in another City and Sane performance rather than last night.

I know everyone is (rightly) protective of him but last night he wasn't looking around enough for danger IMO. Madrid are def a step up from Roma.

I think it will be a shoot out final and whoever scores most will win - 4/ 3 us!

Bring in Chelsea!

"Whoever scores most will win". That's not exactly rocket science mate.

Jokes aside, yes Trent will need to be 100% focused and concentrated. He can't afford to misjudge the flight of the balls or miss interceptions like he did last night. I'm confident he'll learn from his mistakes and bounce back.

Up the Reds!

Just pop the ball over where Marcelo is meant to be and Salah will have a field day. don't worry about TAA as Marcelo's head will be doing 360's after about 20 minutes.

I really think TAA will be a great player but my God Madrid will attack him senseless as he is our weak link. I said all this after the United game an got absolutely slatted but I am just saying how it is.
I just hope we get the TAA that played against city not the one that played against United.

This trend felt the pressure and I think we were confused as a team weather to attack or defend end of the first half we could of killed the game but played to keep the ball second half was a lot harder.

But whose going to mark Marcelo when he gets forward? He may be bad defensively but he is good in attack.

Trent kept PFA Young Player of the Year Leroy Sane fairly subdued for two legs of the Quarter Final, so he obviously can defend.

He just has to be given the correct preparation on the training ground, and be on his toes from the first whistle and he'll deal with Marcelo.

RAAAA! He was not on it last night, granted, but just look at the protection Robertson is given compared to Trent. Mane (of the match) was up and down covering all the way down that side which Salah wasn't doing/ doesn't do on our right. I know we're set up that way, but he needs more help from the mids. I felt we were a bit lop sided at times and it really didn't help Trent whilst having an off day.

Bardzo don't forget mane and van d

Salah and lovren I know who'd I'd rather from a defensive point of view.

TAA got NO help from his midfield last night until Klopp put Wiji on the right side of CM to counter act Kolarov bombing forward. Apart from that, the boy battled hard, never backed down and gave as good as he got. The fact that we have a 19 year old kid who will prolly start a CL final and judging that a defender is not yet the finished article at least until 22-23, it is awesome for him. Those slating a kid for not playing beyond his years is quite sad and shameless, IMO.

{Ed0333's Note - if he’s in the team then he shouldn’t impervious to criticism regardless of his age mate. We can’t afford passengers it’s a European Cup final. So are you saying that we should keep forgiving his mistakes for another 3 years till he gets to 22-23. Same with Gomez. You can’t keep making costly errors in the hope that in two or three years he can iron out the wrinkles. Do you think opposition wingers are gonna go easy on them because they are young and inexperienced. We have titles and trophies to win. I’m sorry BRover it’s not sad and shameless. I wanna live to see us win another league title and if TAA is regularly making the same mistakes next season and it’s costing us games I wouldn’t have any problem with replacing him.

One problem with all this is TAA is not a defender. I am far more concerned about the errors Gomez has been making judging the flight of a ball in the air than I am about a player who will likely end up in our midfield.

I think TAA is fine against left footed left sided players. It is players who move into channels from the middle that give him and Gomez more of a worry.

Ed, I get what you are saying however if we believe in this kid then we have to let him grow. Also, no one is saying that he is immuned from criticism or or whether his errors should just be glossed over. What I have a prob with is the constant OTT battering on a 19 yr old kid learning the game and making him out to be some kind scapegoat all the time. Also remember, he is not even a RB so if we wanna help him grow as a RB, we should actually sign a RB who will compete with him and help him learn cos sorry, Clyne is NOT that guy.

{Ed0333's Note - I get in essence what your saying mate I really do but there are at least 4 teams that can outmuscle us financially which means if they are carrying passengers they will replace them with better players. We can’t afford to give these teams any respite or any free points as there’s no easy games in the premier league and points are priceless. I love the fact we have kids in our side but if they are incessantly making mistakes and losing us points then I’m not oppose to them being dropped or replaced. Times have changed we have to move with time, I’m tired of being 10 points ahead of the leaders at Xmas. I want to win the Premiership in my lifetime and I don’t think we’re that far away. If that means buying a stellar right back and TAA is benched then so be it. To be honest I don’t think he’s a right wing back and I think we’ll buy a recognized player for that position in the summer. But I for one second don’t want to demonize the kid for his mistakes, that’s not right or fair.

No prob, Ed. I totally understand your point and the nuances behind it. It's a tough sled BUT I agree with you that we need a true RB or RWB to play there so he can keep learning the position or just switch to midfield where he is best. Cheers, man.

{Ed0333's Note - I totally agree with you mate. He needs a tutor or swap positions.
