Ed002,

Was just wondering, where exactly does Liverpool stand in terms of players wanting to join the club? It seems like players feel there is a level beyond Liverpool (Coutinho, Suarez to Barca; Emre wanting Bayern or Juve; Salah possibly wanting Real) . Having made the semifinals of the CL and showing progress in the league, how long until LFC stop losing their best players to "bigger" clubs? Are their steps they can take to get further? I remember you recently posting 6 bullet points on what the club could do to improve, but will players ever want to stick around if that happens? Basically, what is LFC's reputation amongst Europe's elite players?

Thank you and the other Ed's for everything y'all do!

{Ed002's Note - Players will always want to play at the highest level and challenge for league titles and the Champions League etc.. Players will also want to play at the "elite" clubs, hence Salah having his agent approach Real Madrid before Christmas and more recently Barcelona. Coutinho did the same, the runt fought hard to leave etc.. It is a problem other sides have with the likes of De Gea, Hazard, Kane, Courtois, Alderweireld, Kante, Alonso, de Bruyne and others all courting or being courted by the likes of Real Madrid, PSG and Barcelona. Liverpool have a great opportunity to win the Champions League this season but that won't stop the likes of Can leaving and Salah looking to leave.}

Thank you for your response. It’s hard for me to understand why players want to leave, but I suppose I could’ve chosen a different club to support as a kid if I wanted all the elite players.

Top tier is probably Real, Barca, Bayern and maybe PSG. Next tier, is City (wants to be top tier), Utd, Chelsea, Juve and Athletico. We're probably in the next tier with Dortmund, Arsenal, Spurs and Napoli.

Coutinho is having a shocker tbh. I wouldn't worry about Salah leaving just yet mate.

Lets be honest, this is our first CL semi-final in 10yrs, and let’s not talk about the PL.

While can argue about the tough competition in PL, and how well we’re playing now, it still takes a fair amount to stay if Real or Barcelona come calling, as those two pretty much guarantee titles to those who are tapped on the shoulder to join.

I truly believe we’re building something special, and right now everyone fears us as a genuine threat, but we’re some way off of being able to offer the same near guaranteed medal haul.

The problem for Salah, I think, is that he's found his level at Liverpool.
And seeing how Coutinho, Suarez and to a lesser extent Emre Can had to damage their reputations with LFC fans to leave, I'm not sure if Salah would go that far to damage his image.

Can is not an elite player. He is leaving because he will not be first choice at Liverpool next season.

Salah on the other hand is a big worry - no way we could replace 40 goals with one player.

It hurts to see Salah aproached Barcelona agent recently. Seems like he doesn't see his long term future here. : ( Anyway I feel like if Salah leaves he will never be the same, Klopp way and the teammates suits him so much that I belive he will never achive such numbers somewhere else, but who knows.

Salah has a long term contract and I can’t imagine Klopp it the board or anyone around the club will let other clubs even consider approaching him.

{Ed002's Note - It is not other clubs approaching him but him approaching other clubs.}

Thanks Ed02. Good to know that we are not the only ones having this issue cos the way some of our fans run their mouths, you would think LFC are the only clubs where their players get cherry-picked by the elite clubs. Salah may well leave at some point, but I doubt any of those clubs can afford what we would want for him esp. right now cos it is safe to say that the Cou fee will be dwarfed as that won't even get you to the table, IMO.

Who cares about tiers and elite clubs? We have a chance to add to our FIVE European cups. "Elite" clubs like PSG clubs would love to have one as would City. Chelsea and United would love to add to their total.

If winning another European Cup doesn't encourage you to come to Liverpool or stay if you are already there then you are purely after money.

If Mo Salah wins us the champions league he can leave with my best wishes for all I care.

a world record fee won't be enough this summer! He can approach whoever he wants! He ain't going anywhere yet.

I think LFC will hold on to Salah this summer by asking for 200 Million and insisting on it (which we know FSG know how to do) . But by next summer, there will have been enough acrimony and disturbance with "gentleman" Salah (as there was with the other "gentleman, Coutinho), that FSG will let him go at a high price anyway. As they say. When you want to go, you have to go.

Ed doing the dirty with his bubble bursting of Liverpool fans. Salah ain't going nowhere. Simples. Not for at least 250mil starting bid. 4 year contract on the pfa player of the year and probably 3rd or even runner up in the balon d'ore.

And the club has shown yet again that we are much better equipped in the transfer market and that where not reliant on someone leaving.

For every coutinho there is a salah.

200 million? for the player he is i hope you mean for his right foot! Because that would be a joke. Twice the player neymar is!

Think Salah won't go anywhere next year because don't think anybody can afford him atm.
It may be short sighted and he needs to do it over a far longer time period but right now at this very moment he is doing everything Messi does. He's up there. only his career is only starting.
