With a lot a talk about penalties this morning and VAR not coming into the prem next season. What are people’s views and VAR thumbs up or down please. Would interesting to get as Meaney votes as possible I am 👍🏻I don’t want the the game slowing down BUT the ref decisions are so poor at the min it’s driving me crazy.

Refs are human of course they are going to make mistakes and miss things. Us fans get to watch incidents as many times as we want and will still have the biased opinion in favour of our team. Refs have a split second to make a decision. Var slows the game down and takes out a certain amount of the entertainment. Since football began players, managers and officials have always made mistakes it's part of the enjoyment of the game. Fans who believe it is just an agenda against our club and no other team gets referee mistakes then they live on cloud cuckoo land.

I think it should be used maybe the manager can have 3 uses per game. If the technology could be used the same way as other sports, I think a lot of games would pretty much not be interrupted too much.

We have the best league in the biggest most popular dramatic sport in the world. Why Change it.

To me VAR is simple. The current format is there to protect the referee, not the game. In my version each team gets one appeal. If it is upheld, you keep your appeal, if it is not you lose you're appeal. It would makes teams think hard about appealing decisions and referees would be absolved of extra blame.

Secondly, instead of one VAR, you have three per game, in separate rooms, with no communication. They watch the same videos at the same time and have a vote. The decision is made. There would be more consistency as they would learn what is considered a correct decision and once again, no blame at the match referee's door.

The current system is whack, but designed by a referee, so what do you expect?

VAR works just fine in Rugby union without appeals etc. Most of the issues with VAR in football have been down to poor referees misusing it, with more training/ the better refs we need anyway VAR will work just fine. I for one hope they keep using it and make it work because the current level of refereeing goes beyond just being part of the game, it’s sheer incompetence which is spoiling games week after week.

Most of the time the refs have a clear view of the incidents like the ings penalty shout, the foul on ings where he ended up getting punched but got given the other way despite the centre half only letting go of ings to punch him. The decision not to book Herrera against spurs for a clear rugby tackle. The harry kane offside where they made up the rules some them up best. It's their interpretation that's the issue and the same refs you can't rely on to make decisions in the game will be the ones making the call using the var. I would use it just for offside as it's either offside or it's not.

I think it is a good idea, the only sensible idea, and it just needs tweaking a bit, with maybe a voting system or a system of challenges like in tennis being implemented as sepecified above. Ultimately people can moan about the negatives but, as far as I am concerned, if football is not played by the rules, then it is not football. I am sick of poor decisions ruining games across the world.

Rugby, Tennis etc. It's not football, we're killing the game. The World Cup will be a shambles. Football is bigger and better than any other sport because of the fans, please don't kill the excitement because that's all this VAR does. Celebrating is paused, it's all stop start, it's too slow!

Rugby is more physical in the contact area but it is also very stop start with lineouts and scrums so video replays does not really affect the game as much. Football is far more free flowing and any kind of stoppage is more noticeable.

I don’t buy into this football is better/ different than other sports, surely we all want the correct result from matches? VAR (when done properly) should allow this to happen and stop miscarriages of justice.
The other change I would bring in would be a stop-clock, this is probably an unpopular call, but teams regularly start time wasting early in games and it ruins matches. A stop-clock would stop teams wasting time and stop all the stoppage time mess we currently. I’m sick of seeing players flopping to the floor and playing injured to waste time.

IMO officiating has heavily declined since VAR was first brought into the game. And the premier league refs somehow dropped the most - Relying on technology even though it isn’t in the league yet.
Relying on technology makes people sloppier and lazier in any form which is one of the reasons i’m against it.

But i’m also coming round for it now because officials have already resigned to the idea of VAR and have let there performances dip and unless VAR suddenly disappears from every aspect of the game, I can’t see them improving unfortunately.
