I saw a stat today in a friends phone don't know if it's legit tho


But Firmino is the only player in 130 years of football history to create 50+ chances and make 60+ tackles in a season
Add 25 goals and 13 assist to that so far



Shows how hard working the man in and I wasn't a fan last season but now he is the man.

I doubt people were tracking tackles and chances created 30 years ago let alone 130 years ago.

No. No it is not true.

First off, stats like that have only existed since 2003-04. That’s how long Opta have measured them anyway. So before then, and certainly not as far back as 130 years ago, there’s no way those kind of stats were monitored.

Secondly, in the last 15 years of the Premier League where we have that data, there have been 134 instances (including Firmino this season) of a player making 50+ chances and 60+ tackles in the same season. 134. In fact, two players (Fabregas and Arteta) have made over 100 of both in one season before.

So the fact could not be further from the truth.

Firmino is having a phenomenal season. There is absolutely no reason for people to lie and make up stats like this to make him look good.

But hey ho, it got likes, clicks and page views, so why let the truth get in the way of a good story?!

Reid the red firmino is the only forward to achieve that, whereas fabregas and arteta are misfielders.

Unfortunately, he's not even the only striker to have made 50+ chances and attempted 60+ tackles in the Premier League in that time.

Kevin Davies did it in four separate seasons alone! Dirk Kuyt was the last to do it for us (08-09). So no, unfortunately it's not even true for forwards!
