Milner played Kev off the park in two legs. Player of the year? Can't remember him touching the ball.

Milner second half of the season has been quality and fair play to gini, his recent form has picked up loads. All found form at the right time. even Lovren.

As Klopp once said in his younger days, "We used to believe that if the other team has better players, you will always lose. With tactics however, you have a chance". Sometimes, nothing can dwarf good coaching, desire and the right tactics and that is why our midfield outplays City's almost every time even tho they have better midfielders like Silva and KDB over Gini and Milly.

{Ed002's Note - I think "nothing can dwarf good coaching" has gone out of the window as he has made it clear the club will continue to spend in order to buy success.}

Cant beat em join em Ed2 utd and Chelsea more so have "bought success" for years and city do it now aswell.

{Ed002's Note - I think you will find that Chelsea has been better than self-sufficient for many years. Manchester City has rather distorted finances, but money is available. It is not the same atLiverpool. It seems rather sad you want to make it about others, but at least you get the sugar daddy owners you have craved - but they will be continuing to borrow against future success. This is not good news for the club, it is a pity you can’t rationalise and discuss it. But there you go.}

The only team not to buy success is Leicester, but buying success is relative compared to the spending of your rivals. We aren't spending on a Manchester level, accumulatively speaking, but we are spending the same or more than the Londoners. It's what we've always done and its brought no Premier League titles thus far.

Though, surely buying the title would mean spending more than you're nearest rivals. Therefore, 3rd seems about right at the moment. Higher is exceeding expectations, lower is not. Then you have to take contracts, loans etc into account. We're competing at the top. No more and we cannot afford to buy the title in a Manchester type fashion. I do think we are being coached on par, however.

I didn't realise it was so bad Ed the reported figures for those that have left seem to weigh up with the ins. I know there are a lot of added costs but we just had our best financial figures and expect next years will be better still.

{Ed002's Note - so how much did Liverpool getfor Coutinho last year?}

Not “making it about others” simply using them as a comparison to your comment. It’s something that has gone on for a long time in the league and Chelsea where the worst for it when RA first arrived. Man Utd can in fairness get away with the vast amounts they spend as they make a lot but I do agree LFC are now also spending.

Don’t take it personal Ed2!

{Ed002's Note - I guess you you don't really understand.}

We pretty much broke even this year with Vvd, Aoc, Robertson and mo coming in and Coutinho as well. I don't think that is buying the title, it's just doing what needs doing to compete with our rivals, the net balance is about +10 mil for this season.

Is that actually true though SS? Taking into account all of the vast financial information not guessed at in the papers, I mean. Theoretically, if we are spending the 3rd most and only earning the 5th most then either the other two are not spending 'enough' or we are spending more than we can afford. If, however, we achieve success by spending to exceed our previous level and then are able to maintain success on an even financial footing then I'm all for it. 'You've got to spend money to make money' (or trophies), right?
