Right lads been thinking and I am trents number 1 fan even after United and palace I wanted him to start over Gomez

So here's my question is he a victim of his own success

By this I mean is he going to be a full back instead. of his preferred centre mid position?

Here's a though play Gomez and clyne right full next season (or but a right full and move Gomez centre half) and make Trent our second midfielder coming in

He has the abilities to play centre mid

Love a opinion of everyone.

It might depend on who we get as a right back, if we get a top right back, Trent might be able to have games at centre mid, but if they are dodgy he might have to stay there. Whilst I think he has the ability for cm, I think he will have to work on his physicality and working surrounded by players, he seems a little panicked under pressure and only seems to run with the ball from space.

Just leave the kid develop where he is. That is my opinion.

Most important thing for him is game time, if you push him into midfield now you have him competing with Hendo, Kante, Ox and Milner (and either Gini or a. n. other) .

I’d rather see him start every week possible at RB next season, and maybe play the odd game in midfield to cover rotation or injuries, and then look to move there permanently the season after next when Milner will likely retire.

Are we signing Kante 😳.

We can't put Clyne back in the team, it'd be a step backwards. I'd stick with TAA/ Gomez for now, if we're looking at putting Gomez to CB then I'd hope we can bring in a RB in the summer and sell Clyne, he's just no good.

I can't wait to see TAA as a regular midfielder but right now I think it's risky to do so, I think he needs another season at RB regularly before changing things.

Just leave him be. its this continuous assessment of a young player that managers try to protect youngsters from. I'm as guilty as others for it but I'm trying to just not get too up or down on the lad. Let him develop as he is a talent!

{Ed001's Note - he has 5 years before he needs to be worrying about settling into a position.}

TAA's strengths are whipping balls in from the right and he's enjoying all that space in front of him. Putting him into the centre of a compact midfield might hinder those strengths.

Good to see a contrast of opinions maybe I'm thinking to soon to move him for now he is fine where he is for experience and gsme time but in a cup game next year maybe try him out cm see what he is upto

Playing there for the youth few months ago only.

I remember a young Steven Gerrard played a few positions in his youth, including full back. Not going to compare the two players; just noting that it did Stevie no harm.

I'm not saying that he's nailed on, but after the City games and another two games minimum at the highest possible level (Champions League), you'd surely hope that Southgate is thinking about taking him to Russia.

Here's a trivia question. When was the last time as young player went to a major tournament to play for England in what is not their natural position?

No idea on that one epic

Would let taa develop at rb next season and move him forward into mid for the last 30 mins when we are a few goals infront and sub a mid for rb.

It's hard to tell with that trivia question, dier player cm for England a bit, and stared mostly as CB at the time of the euros.

How can a 19 year old have a natural position? He is young enough that he can be moulded into a top quality right back or midfielder, his natural position will only become apparent with age.

I really don’t understand why people are pushing hard to play him in the midfield. This is ridiculous. He could be a dang alves in the making and some here are desperate k turn the wheel and make him a midfielder.

If only he was competing with Kante. Kante, Keita, Ox. Hendo Gini milner and trent. I'm hard 🙈.

Spot on Harry. If he moves into midfield, where would Kovacic fit in?

People, he has not long turned 19. NINTEEN!
he has probably 5 years before needing to be concrete in a position. I think from 22 he may start playing in midfield more then by the time he is 24/ 25 he'll be set in whatever position suits him best which'll probably be a few positions - RCM, RM, RW?, RB.
He has a lot of talent AND a lot of time to find the perfect position for his potential talent.
