I don't really understand this we can beat anyone over 2 legs but are worried about Playing teams in a 1 off game. Surely to win it over 2 legs we would have to win at least one of the games or are we that unconfident we only think we can win on away goals. Roma have won 1 in their last 4 and that was a great performance against Barcelona but it was 1 performance. They are currently 4th in a not great Serie A. Competing with Lazio and Inter for 3rd place. Out of the teams we could have faced they are the least strongest as Real and Bayern are 2 of the best teams in the world.

Anything is possible I believe now and we should be confident, not arrogant, but confident playing in the semis, we deserve our place.

If we get to the final, I'd love to beat Real, that would be one of the most satisfying victories in 30 or so years of me personally being a Liverpool fan and we've had some satisfying victories down the years.

Real Madrid are only 3rd/ 4th in Spain. Roma are a good side 3rd/ 4th in Italy. We’re likely to finish 3rd/ 4th in the Premier League. So you’d say Bayern have got be favourites. But it’s knockout football and there’s fine margins between them, after all the Champions elect of Spain, Italy and England were knocked out in the quarterfinals by the 3rd/ 4th placed teams above. Think the intriguing thing about the games against Roma will be how they approach playing us at Anfield. At the Nou Camp they attacked looking for the away goal but left gaps at the back. At home they switched to 3 at the back which worked against a very narrow Barcelona attack. Will they attack again at Anfield looking for the away goal, think that might suit us but could be a crazy game 4-2 or similar. Or will they play defensive and look to get a 0-0 or take a narrow defeat 1-0, knowing that they haven’t conceded at home in the whole of champions league this season? Think Bayern should beat Real as I think they are a better all round Team, but Ronaldo will be a factor no doubt. Bet Klopp would love Heynckes and Bayern again in a Champions League final!

The problem we have is the squad dropping like fly's with injuries, we need too win in the league just as much as compete in champions league, hope our squad is strong enough too balance both league and champions league.

Caister some interesting points mate. I agree that Roma are a good side, I just think they are the least strongest of the 3 we could have faced. 3rd in Italy is totally different to 3rd in England or Spain. The 3 Spanish teams have dominated the CL for the last few years with at least 2 of them normally getting to the semi's. Real have been crap in their league this year but they have won the CL 3 times out of the last 4 years. Regardless of how they are doing domestically you cannot turn a blind eye to that. And for me I'm glad we have avoided them.

It will be the truest test of how far we have come.

Attack verse defence. Can we break down a team that can really defend.

Let's see.

Oh btw I think we should start a moincottonwool campaign. Be doing with any injuries.

Pack him off to the Caribbean for the next 2 weeks. He can meet us in Rome.

Can they really defend though. They've conceded 2 to Athletico, 3 to Chelsea, 2 to Donetsk and 4 to Barcelona in CL games this season. I think we are giving Roma far too much credit after 1 fantastic performance at home to Barca. Let's not forget Man City scored 1 against us in 180 minutes. How about we can now really defend and we also scored 5.

Roma are no pushovers so they deserve every ounce of respect. GThey have a rich history, a mythical stadium and brilliant fans, just like us (even if we dwarf them in trophies won) . They have very good players in Manolas, Dzeko, Florenzi, Emerson and the Kolarov is still getting it done. It will be a tough tie and we need to focus on that instead of some of us talking about Real or Bayern, who we don't even play against in the semis.
