Maybe TAA will have a blinder tomorrow? All I'm seeing is lots of worried people. The 2 main times he was caught out was against teams that sat back and hit it long. Do City do that much?

{Ed0333's Note - I feel so sorry for TAA, most people are expecting him to crumble if he plays, including me. I truly hope for his sake he plays a blinder and rams the criticism down our throats.

Yeah I feel for him Ed0333. He's a defender at the moment and mistakes are analysed to death. Not much mention of him coming out at half time v Palace and really getting on the front foot, helping drive the team forward to an eventual gritty win. Klopp can't possibly start Clyne surely, and I can't see Klopp changing his set up to incorporate a back 3, or playing a midfielder in there, so let's be supportive, positive, and hope for the best.

{Ed0333's Note - I would be horrified and aghast if Klopp played Clyne in a game of this magnitude. Admittedly he’s been training for a month but is he match fit? I’m not sure he’s up to speed and I’m not sure he would repel Sane more than Trent. I mean he’s not very good when he’s 100%.

His defensive awareness is extremely poor at times, looks a top full back going forward and with the ball at his feet he's excellent but really needs to improve on the positional sense at the back.

Clyne was always a poor defender so him being out will not suddenly make him better. It will make him worse. Personally, I'm not worried about TAA as the kid is a very smart and intelligent person who knows his flaws and actually apologized for his play at OT even tho IMO, he had nothing to apologize for. I am more worried that there are no senior players there to guide him thru games, get on his back when he's not doing his job and encourage him. That is my main issue and I hope Klopp puts a plan in to rectify this and not leave him isolated vs Sane.

Trent pushing on and making Zaha 'defend' is what improved his game last week. Not sure it will work against Sane but he needs to do similar tonight. Maybe less often. Hopefully Klopp will set up with Vvd right sided and Milner to give Trent protection. Not because he's that bad, just because city are that good and both our full backs need help when they are asked to be so attacking.

If Rashford and Zaha can take the lad apart, a proper top class player like Sane will crucify the poor lad. The definition of insanity is repeating the same mistakes over and over again expecting different results.

Dennis on the flip side, if the CB's and his team mates had also done their jobs in those instances as they did with helping Gomez shut Sane (yeah, the same guy) down in the last game vs City, then those players would not have had a sniff. Just saying.

Ed0333, even if Clyne is “match fit” is he mentally fit to jump right back into a champions league quarter final?

My guess would be no.

Red Sandman.

{Ed0333's Note - Im opposed to Clyne playing against City in either games in any capacity so let’s hope it doesn’t come to that. Trent is the way forward but the lad clearly has limitations but as someone alluded to earlier in the thread he’s being let down by his colleagues. Van Dick, Lovren, Matip and the midfielders should be helping him, covering him and at least doing what Carra used to do so well by giving him a bollocking and telling him what to do if he’s not doing what he’s meant to be doing.
