Anyone for Clyne on Wednesday? Experience over youth?

I know what you mean geri. Taa does get targeted. He's great going forward but is not strong enough to be a serious defender.

Nope nope nope.

It’s going to have to be. Sane will destroy TAA it Zaha and Rashford are anything to go by.

I’d rather have your namesake, Geri Ginger spice.

This again? Come on guys, last season wasn't that long ago, have you actually forgotten what Clyne's performances were like? Not to mention how long he's been out injured. Do you really think he'll do any better against Sane than Alexander-Arnold? Cos he won't. Not in a million years. Not to mention that he'll kill every attack down the right hand side because his maximum passing range is 5 yards.

Why don't we just go ahead and recall Mignolet whilst we're at it? After all, he's more experienced than Karius, isn't he?

We complain that no youth players come though, but when we actually get one we want to drop him for a poor player who hasn't played a senior game in nine months in a CL Quarter Final.

Just a thought. TAA got destroyed in the first 30 minutes today. He grew into but I think and it's only my opinion Clyne might be a better choice Wednesday.

TAA is young so will forgive him, although he is making the same mistakes over and over again and being targeted however I would still choose TAA over Clyne.

I would like too see milner play there as he done great on the left last year for us, considering milner is right footed he would be on his natural side an it would b an option til the end of the season were we can strengthen that position, failing that if clyne is 100 percent fit an ready would prefer them 2 in front of Trent AA at this crucial stage of season, as he being targeted by teams an goals are coming from his inexperience at this level, I really like him but he and Gomez are so young and bound too make mistakes they got plenty of years too improve.

I would play Milner at RB.

I think I'd play Milner there. If Gomez was fit I'd be saying its time to pull Trent for a couple of weeks. Young players form goes up and down and they sometimes need protecting. Hopefully he's got a big future and he needs to be handled properly. There's a danger of him becoming a target for other teams to exploit.
On the other hand it could.

Milner's never played right back to my knowledge, isn't known for his defensive capabilities in midfield, and has played 30 minutes at left back all season. I'm not sure why we'd trust his defensive sense more than Alexander-Arnold, either positionally or in terms of him being able to stop Sane running at him. Although at least his crossing would be potentially dangerous.

As for teams targetting Alexander-Arnold, you think they won't target Milner or Clyne at right back either? I certainly would if I was in the opposition dugout.

Alexander-Arnold should play unless Gomez has a miraculous return to fitness. I really do not see the advantage of trying Milner and definitely not Clyne.

Klopp will pick TAA, just like he did today, yes he will be targetted, yes Sane will get lots of ball,
but our front three will do us proud .

I think it's a case of protecting TAA for the future rather than a one off (all be it very important) week of games. We've seen Karius benefit from a spell out of the team even if the team was arguably worse off for the inclusion of Mignolet.

Milner hasn't played right back for us but he has earlier in his career? Yes I'd target him too and to be honest whoever plays there I think it's an issue.

My previous post was supposed to end on the other hand if TAA can come through this period it will be the making of him but my fat thumbs cut the post short!

Is Gomez definitely out? No question he goes in if fit. Klopp to pull a shock formation out and go 3 at the back. Get Trent and Robbo flying up the wings again.

Did nobody see the difference in the second half? Klopp ensured TAA moved further forward, Zaha was pinned back!

No milner at RB please. Love the guy for his effort but if you think Trent will get burned by the speed of Sane then milner is gauranteed toast. Trent's struggle is positioning not speed. Not saying that is good but milner is so easily run by I would risk Trent with another player assisting. That appeared to happen a lot the 2nd half of the palace game.

Match sharpness is not made up. If a player can come back after a year out and perform to an elite level then why do teams bother with pre season.

Talk about rusty he will probably be at league 2 level till he gets some games under his belt.

{Ed0333's Note - he was League 2 level when he got injured.

TAA for me, if it was upto me Clyne would never get a game for us again. You think TAA might have a hard time, god help Clyne then. He's useless and the sooner he's out the better. Some of you have short memories of how bad he actually is.

{Ed0333's Note - oh my memory is crystal clear and vivid when it comes to Clyne. I would play him in the Derby though as we need to get him match fit in case of other injuries.

What an awful suggestion, Klopp should not even consider playing Clyne over TAA for a number of reasons:

1) Clyne is a bad, bad player.
2) Clyne has been injured for what? A year? He is nowhere near ready (even if he was good enough - which he isn't) .
3) How would that affect TAA's development going forward if he was, out of the blue, dropped for one of the biggest games of his young career? Sure he wasn't the best against Zaha but the lad is learning - don't forget at Anfield is was Gomez who was partially responsible for Sane's goal. Young players need to be afforded the time to make mistakes.

Instead of calling for him to be dropped fans could perhaps try supporting a young player instead, just a thought.

TAA has been, according to ye olde stattos, one of the top 3 defensive players in this year's champions league. That may be largely due to his attacking prowess but that may be the point in the end. We aren't going to win by keeping clean sheets, we need to create and play to our strengths, not theirs. Trent is doing fine, make Sane worry about him just as much as the other way around.
