Watching Mane yesterday he does seem to be playing the "coutinho " role now which is something MK alluded to a couple of weeks back. Dropping deep and letting the full back have the width. So with Salah playing the mane role of last season, we've probably improved both positions.

I agree Mané looked good and lively yesterday.

I'm not sure I want Mane to be playing that role on a permanent basis. It'll work only if the fullback who is taking up his place, hasn't left a gaping hole on our defensive left side, and is being covered by another midfielder or Van Dijk. It's working okay thus far, considering we were not able to replace Coutinho last January. But I'd much rather have Mane on the receiving end of passes near or in the penalty box, rather than making them.

Mane provided my favourite moment of the match with his layup to Salah for his 3rd goal. Despite being in a better shooting position he passed in order to give Salah the chance to score his first hatrick for the club.

That should settle the "Mane's sulking because he's jealous of Salah debate".

Ra1969, there is nothing wrong with Mane expanding the role in the team. Obviously, Klopp has giving him more responsibility cos he trusts that Mane can do the job even if it is temporary. This is the strength of our front 3 cos either of them can drop into the no. 10 roale and do the job there. Mane was at the origin of the first 3 goals.

The pass he put in for Robbo for the second goal, was sublime. Had a no. 10 like Cou, KDB, Silva or even Bobbie done that, we would be hailing the pass as world class and great vision. What is wrong with Mane being able to do that? To me, I think it's great that he can do that cos that will make our front 3 even more deadly and make them more unpredictable and versatile.
